Past July 5 Heatwaves

When CO2 levels were lower, July 5th used to be a hot day in the US. As CO2 has increased the frequency of hot weather on July 5th has declined.

The hottest July 5th occurred in 1911, when almost the entire country was over 90 degrees, and 100 degree temperatures stretched from California to new Hampshire.

On July 5, 1936 South Dakota was 120 degrees. Montana was 113 degrees. Nebraska was 112 degrees. North Dakota was 111 degrees, Iowa was 110 degrees. Wyoming was 109 degrees.

I was shooting fireworks early this morning in Wyoming, and it was cold.

We went to the Rodeo in Jackson last night. Still up at the Grand Targhee Resort. Wedding today. Then tomorrow we move down to a Condo in Driggs and the fun really begins. Highs have been around 80 F. Lows around 50 F.

Picked up some literature at the Ranger Station on the local Geology. Never realized how extensive glaciations have been. During the last one major one to occur during the Pleistocene 80,000 years ago the ice sheet peak over what is now Yellowstone Lake topped mountains over 10,000 ft. That glaciations is called the ‘Pinedale Glaciation’.

BTW there are also terminal moraines marking the maximum advance of several existing glaciers in the mountains during the LIA.

During the early July 1936 heatwave, a station in North Dakota reached 121 degrees. To show it was not a fluke, a second station in ND hit 120 and yet a third one was 119. The heat was so intense that leaves curled up and died as soon as the blazing wind hit them. Makes Reggie’s blowtorch seem chilly by comparison.

There is no doubt in my mind, that if 1936 had occurred during the last 10 years, a totalitarian Soviet style dictatorship would already be in place in the US, under the guise of climate change. Sooner or later, some 1930’s weather is bound to happen again and I have serious doubts whether our democracy would be able to survive it, with the hysterical fake news establishment we now in place.

There has only been one July 5th in the last 60 years that has been comparable to several earlier in history. Anyone who believes there is a climate crisis is totally delusional. Dangerous as well, willling to throw away the Constitution and our hard won freedoms, plus diverting trillions to corrupt 3rd world dictators to fight warming that is not even happening.

It is hard to believe that we have one major political party and nearly the entire fake media behind these crazy schemes, but these are strange, sad and dangerous times.

Sorta off-topic, by can anybody respond to this graph from a warmists that he says shows “adjustments” cause net cooling? https://twitter.com/brandonrgates/status/882758475155202048

    • gator69 says:

Cooling the past, warming the present. Lots of past to cool.

    • AndyG55 says:

The adjustments also flatten the 1940’s peak.

That peak was a major embarrassment to the AGW scam,

and as Tom Wiggly said… it had to go… and it has!

So yes, that peak has received a large amount of cooling.

      Jl,

Brandon Gates, does this crap over an over. He stopped posting at WUWT after a number of real scientists destroyed his misleading comments many times to the point that we were laughing at him.

Here he will ignore the well known big change to the long known 1940-1975 cooling trend, into a flat trend after years of adjustments made to it.

Here Tony himself showed back in February how it was done:

On The Integrity Of The NASA/NOAA Temperature Record

This the definitive expose of data tampering on the internet,go read the entire 82 chart filled report.

Then YOU will know how to reply to Brandon “misleader” Gates.
