Celebrating Socialism

So much of left-wing thought is a kind of playing with fire, by people who don’t even know that fire is hot.

They’re patting themselves on the back over what amounts to unthinkable evil!
    Keep your powder dry!!

  2. Timo Soren says:

The Chavez’ family under Hugo and his family accumulated some 1/2 billion dollars, 15+ larges estates, over 100,000 acres of land. IF that is sharing the wealth…we now understand J. Corbyn. Fake care of the poor and massive selfish enrichment. Perhaps people should look at his finances just to check.

    • Kris Johanson says:

Western pseudo-intellectuals practically fell over themselves praising Stalin and Castro. Abby Hoffman said Castro was like an erect penis coming to life, and George Bernard Shaw slobbered over “friend of humanity” Joseph Stalin. These people are self-centered beyond belief…

  3. feathers says:

I love that Orwell quote, thanks Tony!

    • arn says:

The quote is indeed very good
as many of those “good doers”
live in an intellectualised primitive((employer=always good, worker=always evil))
and parasitic((cooperate with the bourgoise until you get to power tgen destroy then))
and dictatorial((that’s why they always end in tyranny by default,as one can not controle eg. prizes for a longer period and on a larger scale without controlling the entire chain from production to sales))

a bunch of nice slimey guys who know everything, want to rule the world and get violent whenever they don’t get what they want=
communism is the islam for the educated.

  4. Cam says:

And, as of August, Corbyn still hadn’t changed his tune. Surprising this was actually in the Guardian

  5. Mr Grimnasty says:

Corbyn gets jokingly heckled by a Conservative MP, so his pregnant wife receives vile threats and comments.

This is what the people behind Corbyn are really like. Mad and bad.

  6. annieoakley says:

The same thing happened in the Ukraine in the 1930’s. The NYT covered it up.

    • Kris Johanson says:

NYT wouldn’t even cover the Holocaust for god’s sake until nearly the end of WWII, even though the stories were leaking out all over the place

    • JPinBalt says:

And do not forget Mao’s Great Leap Forward in China where socialism lead to a minimum estimate of 30 million people starving to death. And we still have tons of leftie liberal college professors still indoctrinating this Marxist crap, and young people voting for Bernie Sanders who said very similar complementary things about Venezuela as Corbyn, something about how we should follow their their lead or they were ahead of us, but skip looking it up. None of them know history or follow the news enough between facebook posts and fake news feeds to see that Venezuelians are now eating their former pets and stray cats and dogs not to mention the zoo animals there which have been stolen and butchered. Still this pails in comparison to the socialist results of the Holodomor in the Ukraine where up to 25% of population starved due to socialism/communism/forces collectivization, but instead of eating pets and zoo animals, cannibalism was so wide spread in the Ukraine the socialist/dictatorhip government had propaganda campaigns against it and special prisons for those caught,
“Evidence of widespread cannibalism was documented during the Holodomor.
Survival was a moral as well as a physical struggle. A woman doctor wrote to a friend in June 1933 that she had not yet become a cannibal, but was ‘not sure that I shall not be one by the time my letter reaches you’ The good people died first. Those who refused to steal or to prostitute themselves died. Those who gave food to others died. Those who refused to eat corpses died. Those who refused to kill their fellow man died. Parents who resisted cannibalism died before their children did.
The Soviet regime printed posters declaring: ‘To eat your own children is a barbarian act.’ More than 2,500 people were convicted of cannibalism during the Holodomor.” –
And the millennial crowd and leftie politicians have no clue that these are the bitter fruits of socialism. Socialist government is the key to impoverish people as opposed to the utopia promised, but I guess if you impoverish more people you get more votes to “fix” things.

It has been well known for more than 100 years if you set up the mathematical equations for an economy, government planning as opposed to the market allocation of resources leads to an inefficient transformation of those scare resources into wealth or incomes or GDP or food. Ukraine, China, Venezuela are just the real life experiments proving the results. Call it Feynman applied to social sciences. Despite, people are still blind and taught that problems are blamed on capitalism, corporate greed, colonialism, and racism; and the solutions are multiculturalism, open borders, forced diversity, open borders, redistribution, government consumption of resources and socialism, only benefiting the sycophant academics, corrupt government officials and politicians, and only producing poverty for the rest.

  7. Joe says:

His brother Piers seems like a smart guy when it comes to the climate stuff, but he supports his brother’s socialist politics.

  8. CO2isLife says:

    The True Face of Fascism
If you read nothing more than this sentence of the article, the common denominator of almost all self-inflicted humanitarian atrocities requires a strong centralized Government that doesn’t respect human rights. Fascists don’t empower the individual, they empower the government over the lives of the individual.

  9. Redford says:

The standard for evidence just dropped down a few steps from the usual here. I won’t explain why this post is a gold standard for stating opinions as facts without evidence because I want to believe Steve knew he was at best just trolling here. If not… I don’t know, do your homework. You don’t have to be a Corbyn or Chavez zealot to acknowledge that yes, basically, what was in Venezuela prior to Chavez was so damn worse he’s been a blessing for a vast majority of his people, at least for a decade. And you don’t need anything more than intellectual honesty to notice that there’s nothing in the picture that shows what the statement says. It all comes down to believing the words of the articles. I.E… The New York Times. The very same press organ that is constantly dismiss as a bunch of liars (and rightfully so) here. So when they say something that fits your political opinion, they magically stop lying ?

You may think so. I certainly don’t. I suspect there are other like me. So I guess the question is “do you want to convince the world of your finding or are you just another blogger looking for his own echo chamber, exactly like a lot of the peoples he loves to flame on twitter ?”. You’re obviously a very smart man. I hope what I am saying here makes some sense for you.

    • RAH says:

You offer not a single fact in your rant about facts.

      • gator69 says:

I’d say Tony is over the target.

      • Tom O says:

And other then the Orwell quote, this particular article makes no sense at all. The second picture is so obviously a “photo op” that the whole thing makes the article look stupid. I am fully capable of reading media reports other than trash articles from the NY Times, and if you aren’t, that is your loss. Anyone that can accept 95% of the Times output as anything other than “all the filth we could contrive to print” has a real problem with telling fact from fiction.

      • Redford says:

There was no fact in the OP which was the point of my post. Starting to argue on fact would have given that OP a credibility it didn’t earn.

Also you forgot to explain why NYT is believable when what it claims fits your belief and not when it doesn’t.

  10. Tom O says:

I read a lot of stories about Chavez – most of them sound like they are made up to cover up what the west did to crush his efforts to change Venezuela. I won’t pretend everything in socialism is perfect, nor will I pretend it is perfectly bad. No form of governance is any better than the leaders enforcing it. Look at the state of governance in the west.

As for the picture of the 4 obviously not starving children standing near the small casket looking sad – except the boy that appears to look more like he would be glad when the “photo op” was over, all clean, neatly dressed. Rarely have I seen a more “contrived” and stupid picture to depict something; this one ranks right up there with the starving bear that can’t hunt anymore being passed off as starving because there was no ice.

  11. Many endorsements of socialism are by people, including Einstein, who ought to have known better. All socialists endorse altruism and self-sacrifice as a sort of basis for ethical values. In this, the “right wing” national socialists agree with “left-wing” soviet socialists. But German national socialists and Spanish & Italian fascists are determined to believe in a mystical Allah. Soviet and Chinese socialists (thank Minerva) harbor no such added faith and evidently worship altruism and the initiation of force for their own sakes. Both variants agree in writing that altruism and the initiation of force are “good” things, and express pity for all who lack this Revelation of Truth.

  12. Jimmy Haigh says:

For Redford. I lived in Venezuela before Chavez and it was much much better then than now. I still keep in touch with friends there and the dituation is hellish.

Redford? You don’t have a clue.
