Fighting Climate Superstition

A favorite superstition of climate alarmists is that glaciers are retreating because NASA’s fake temperature graphs indicate Earth is heating up.

Glaciers have been retreating for 20,000 years, when Chicago was under a mile of ice – and they were retreating during NASA’s coldest years on record.

In a 1960 visit to the Athabasca glacier in Canada we were told that it had been retreating for years.

Just came across an American Thinker article which independently confirms what Tony has been showing us for years.

Many thanks to Tony for your efforts.

“Just came across an American Thinker article which independently confirms what Tony has been showing us for years.”

      Neal,

Nothing American Thinker every publishes will “independently confirm” Tony’s work. The article you link to is just a “me-too!” from the peanut gallery.

They are wannabe’s. Everything their writer “found” has been provided by Tony for many years. This is not “confirmation” of Tony’s work. It is parochial and willful ignorance of the real-world, and attempts to take credit for Tony’s work.

“Independent confirmation” would involve the American Thinker “experts” doing research to discover Tony’s work, then independently exploring Tony’s open-source tools, and independently exploring the fake NASA databases, then comparing their analysis to Tony’s, with full credit given to Tony, and links to his analyses.

The American Thinker geniuses’ article is like them “independently confirming” the Law of Gravity by writing a breathless article in 2018 about an apple falling on their thick skulls, and their calculations that show gravity exists, without citing Newton.

Careful about where you hang around. Lie down with dogs, get up with fleas.

Just wondering if Kent had read the article before commenting?

Articles & Blog Posts by Randall Hoven

          Here is Randall’s bio blurb:

Randall Hoven is a retired Boeing technical fellow with a bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees in engineering, which is two more master’s degrees than Bill Nye the Science Guy has.  He teaches at a university now, not on TV.

I’m guessing Kent has some kind of axe to grind with American Thinker. I read the linked article. It wasn’t some breathless article about rediscovering gravity. It was a sensible comparison of saved “temperature data”. Has it been done before? Sure. Is it ground breaking? No. Is it important for more people to see? Yep. Why Kent seems to need to attack the messenger, and not address the message, only he knows. The attack does not make any of us better off.

Glaciers are retreating because more snow is falling? …. say whaaaaa????

Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve lies on the Pacific Coast of Alaska south of the St. Elias mountain range. The first recorded charting of the area was done in 1794 by George Vancouver, in which he showed the bay being a small indentation in the Icy Strait with a gigantic glacier stretching off to the horizon. Yet by 1879 when the same area was visited by naturalist John Muir, the ice had retreated more than 50 km (30 miles) inland.

That 30 mile glacier shrinkage by 1879 was 3 years before the worlds’s first coal power plant was built (all of 125 horsepower).

Is this site legit?….showing below average anomolies since 2015…also shows real time temps and averages….

      Andrew

This is not a knock on the cite because it appears to be a legitimate effort.

However no one can claim to be representing a global temperature average based on surface station data alone. There simply is not the coverage. Vast swaths of the land on this earth have no reliable reporting stations. Most of the interiors of Africa and S. America lack coverage as do portions of Asia. Actually even the much studied poles also lack coverage (Those in the Arctic ocean being a few buoys).

  7. GoFigure says:

When there are no glaciers retreating, we’re obviously into an ice age. Whether it’s a Little Ice Age or a great big REAL one, is all that remains to be determined.
