Only Two Left

I’m not seeing many birds anymore. The only ones I can consistently find now are the Owl and the Flicker.

Global Warming denying birds are the worst of all species.
Moving to the south just for the sake of denying instead of staying in the tropical superhot northern regions is pure provocation.

At least those 2 did not take money from the Koch brothers to move to the south.

    Tony,

You’ve gotta get on with the Christmas Bird Count.

Here’s the area for the Colorado Springs Count:

And here’s the folks who run it.

I’ve been doing this for 10 years in Virginia. They’re a great bunch of folks, interested in birds, and doing the oldest “Citizens Science” project in the world.

Your photography will be greatly appreciated. Many poor identifications are fixed with good photos.

It is a great event done on a 24 hour day between Dec 14 and Jan 5. I do it in Canada, but we get less birds and species than the Colorado Springs count.

Kent, the Christmas Bird Count is a great event. Have participated some in the past.

Has an interesting history, before there was a Christmas Bird Count there was a Christmas Bird Slaughter. Bored folks with nothing much to do between the fall harvest and the spring planting decided it would be fun to spend a day in woods and fields shooting all the birds one could find.

Aided in part with the extinction of the Passenger Pigeon.

And then someone said, “Hey wait a second, it seems wasteful to just kill all these birds and leave them to rot, how about we just count them instead”.

An early successful example of true conservation of natural resources.

      Cheers, Kevin

Is this weather, or is something environmentally unfriendly taking place ?
Wait – where are you ? I thought you were in DC. Is this near DC or are you back in Boulder ?

    I’m not surprised Tony.

They’re probably fed up having their pictures took, and hide behind the nearest tree when they see you coming!!
