China To Save The Planet

A senior U.N. environmental official says entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000.

U.N. Predicts Disaster if Global Warming Not Checked

Experts say we are out of time (again) to save the planet from global warming, and are turning to China for leadership on this.

China is the world’s #1 producer of CO2, and growing fast – while US CO2 emissions are down, due to fracking (which leftists want to ban.)

Climate Goals Pledged by China and the U.S. – The New York Times

The CO2 crisis is so critical, that Obama agreed to let China’s emissions continue to skyrocket for another 12 years. He must be really worried.

It is fascinating watching the thought processes of the left, or more correctly, the complete lack of critical thinking skills.

  1. Mr GrimNasty says:

This is the BBC’s idea of trustworthy news!

“………Argentina, Australia, Canada, the EU (including the UK), South Korea, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the US, are falling short of achieving their nationally determined contributions for 2030. Three countries, Brazil, China and Japan are currently on track, while three others, India, Russia and Turkey are set to beat their targets. ”

The people that are cutting emissions are failing, whilst those massively increasing are doing great work!

  2. DCA says:

Third sentence in the 1989 AP article:
“He said governments have a 10-year window of opportunity to solve the greenhouse effect before it goes beyond human control.”

So why the need for doing anything at all? It all went beyond human control nearly 20 years ago.

And “a senior UN environmental official” is never wrong – how could they be? The science is settled!

    • Disillusioned says:

That’s one of those 10-year windows that has built-in flexibility.

What did we get from that “greenhouse effect” was greener deserts and savannas – the polar opposite of the [failed] prediction of “desertification”.

      • -B- says:

That’s because desertification is caused by local issues.
Now Allan Savory in the following presentation gives the usual nod to the doomsayers but his point is that the problem comes down to the ground not being able to hold water. Proper land management by people can not only prevent it, but reverse it.

  3. Disillusioned says:

I remember when the insanity of the ‘Climate Goals Pledged by China and [Obama]’ took place. It was Orwellian, indeed. The idiots on the Left were mainly silent, although a few did criticize him for it. But they were back to worshiping him by the next news cycle.

    • Robertv says:

Nothing works as well as fear to keep the ranks in line. Progressives are not nice people. They want to control.

    • DD More says:

Dis, Insanity on China’s Pledge, because they didn’t here / translate what was said. They never promised a ‘Cut’.

From the FACT SHEET: U.S.-China Joint Announcement on Climate Change and Clean Energy Cooperation

At the same time, President Xi Jinping of China announced targets to peak CO2 emissions around 2030, with the intention to try to peak early, and to increase the non-fossil fuel share of all energy to around 20 percent by 2030.

In political spin talk, China will grow CO2 at the rate they want till 2030, then will increase the mix of non-fossil fuel (think nuclear power, thorium reactors & hydro growth of 3X the size of the Gorges Dam). Their planned growth doesn’t need what the West considers ‘renewables’. If you actually look at China Power future growth plan, Obama gave away the store to get exactly what China was planning to do anyway.

How are they doing on the 20%.? According to the last statistical data I checked from CEC, China’s nation-wide electricity generation reached 5550TW hours in 2014, for year-on-year growth of 3.6%.

In 2014, nationwide hydropower generation breached the 1000 TW hour threshold for the first time in history to reach 1070TW hours,
      1070 TW / 5550 TW = 19.23 %
Nationwide nuclear power generation in 2014 was 126.2 TW hours, for a year-on-year increase of 13.2% Usage times fell 385 hours year-on-year to 7489 hours on average.
      126.2 TW/ 5550 TW = 02.28 %

      Hydro + Nuc = 19.23% + 2.28% = 21.51% They have been over the 20 percent for years.

  4. TimA says:

The way that the media and politicians worldwide, autocrats, insane religious leaders (muslim and catholic), the misguided scientific community, hollyweird, most of academia propped that idiot up would have been laughable if it wasn’t so frightening and dangerous. Clint Eastwood’s “empty chair” summed obama up better than anyone. The same bunch have flip-flopped on Trump….I wonder why?….better pray…

  5. Anon says:

Other counties saving the world are:

Pakistan goes against the grain with coal power spree.

Why Japan finds coal hard to quit

COP24 host Poland sticking with its coal habit for the foreseeable future

India Coal output rises 10.4% in April-October period

Australia’s emissions continue to climb, reaching seven-year highs

  6. No Agenda says:

    Critical Thinking?

The author claims to hold Critical Thinking as a high moral value. Let’s take a look at that. CO2 is the basis of all life, as anyone with a primary school knowledge of botany and the ingenious, perfect inter-dependent cycle of life knows. As a child I worked to buy my dream bicycle by helping at a local greenhouse, an industry that buys CO2-makers to increase plant health, strength and growth by up to 30 percent.

Anyone with life experience and an ability to logically analyze and record true conclusions, knows that CO2 is a “movement” that belongs in the restroom, and to use CO2 data to further a “good” agenda destroys the integrity and value of any argument.

If a) NASA is a fraud and a mafia facade — like a pizza shop in Sicily — then b) we cannot use NASA data to push our agenda.

Like the author, last year I went out and bought a superzoom camera. But instead of taking photos for a “good” political cause, I went straight from the camera shop to a gigantic nearby lake, 45 miles long, and zoomed in on people laying on the beach 10 miles away, and sailboat captains 20 miles away, proving that they were not 50-100-200 feet below the horizon as NASA (and this blog’s author) propagate endlessly with photos and “models” and “satellite” data.

I have long ago realized that anyone with an agenda or specialty other than ABSOLUTE TRUTH… is a fraud and cannot be trusted. The author is either on someone’s payroll (avoids the truth to keep his contracts), or, his particular religion (world view) embraces dishonesty and precludes logical conclusions. For a 25 year-old, with no life experience and just beginning to discover the lies of this world, such a condition is acceptable. But for anyone over 50, this is raw corruption. In either case, top research which avoids major truths is, in the end, worthless and part of the Great Deception of a world full of narcissistic hearts and self-promotion. Narcissism is the opposite of truth (and love).

PS. Never trust anyone who writes software but uses a blog platform with Google and Facebook embedded in every page.

  7. arn says:

And in Australia “thousands” of children and their teachers who told them to do so are protesting right now to save the climate.
(of course their number compared to the population is as “big” as the manmade co2,but it has the impact co2 is supposed to have as media will make a big think out of it)

  8. -B- says:

China is the model for the world. This is where some of the newest innovations at managing people and society are being worked out. It has never been about CO2 induced “Climate Change” it’s always been about how to engineer and manage human society. CO2 being bad from the USA and acceptable from China is because for people in the USA to be managed they first must be broken down economically so they accept ever larger degrees of management.

    • rah says:

China has a problem though. Their society promotes the collective and not the individual and in doing so quashes individual creativity, innovation, ingenuity, and entrepreneurship. They make others products after being shown how. The technology they have gained they have been given or stolen. In short the China today has not advanced in many ways from the China of 200 years ago when they were known for being able to create fantastic copies of western articles and technology but were unable to create their own.

Wonderful article here about the state of China’s economy now that Trump has put on the tariffs and the rest of the developed world has caught on to what is happening and consolidating their efforts to thwart China’s illegal and overbearing ways.

  9. Bruce of Newcastle says:

China has been building artificial islands in the South China Sea.

Maybe all those islands in the Pacific who are supposed to be drowning could borrow their island making ship.

Then they wouldn’t have to be climate refugees!

  10. Zman says:

One of the more entertaining aspects of these stories that you post is how climate alarmist-scientist-senior environmental officials then pass them off years later as not being “mainstream” while then adding that the real catastrophe is 2-5-10-50-80 years from now.

  11. Sharpshooter says:

Lemme guess: huge technology transfers to China….free of charge, of course!
