I was just wondering whether the painting of the skating on the Thames was done because it was a typical day in the winter, or because it was so odd, the painter thought to memorialize it. Either way, it proves nothing about man’s influence on the weather, or climate.
Read Charles Dickens’ novels about how ‘much better’ life was in Victorian England, the richest country in the world. Everywhere else it was worse. this caught my eye. from The Wall Street journal. brutal winter in the Northeast while at the same time a dry winter with little snow in the West… so far. in fact, says the so-called news story, it’s the least amount of snow on record!!!! and how far back does the satellite record go? 25 years. I saw the same type of thing, except it was rain fall, I think, in Californicated, since records were kept-1987?! Okay, I was working utilities and had water conservation under my perview back before then. The current situation is not nearly as severe as then, when we are in a 6 year drought, and of course we had records back to 1900, formally, and through historical records back to the Spanish coming into the area.
