Gaslighting 1924

The 1924 Winter Olympics were nearly cancelled due to a lack of cold, snow and ice – but “The Conversation” wants people to believe the exact opposite.

  1. Winston Smith asleep on the job again.

  2. arn says:

Seems that global warming has been the scourge of humanity since dawn of mankind –
and the climate control knob (climatistas love alliterations) has been malfunctioning even during the most perfect co2 levels.

  3. conrad ziefle says:

Good to know that Tony is still here, along with variations in the weather. I hope the Visitec business is doing well.

  4. Robertvd says:

All that skating they could do on the river Thames not that long ago. So Global Warming must be real.
Life must have been so much better in those days.

    • conrad ziefle says:

I was just wondering whether the painting of the skating on the Thames was done because it was a typical day in the winter, or because it was so odd, the painter thought to memorialize it. Either way, it proves nothing about man’s influence on the weather, or climate.

    • Read Charles Dickens’ novels about how ‘much better’ life was in Victorian England, the richest country in the world. Everywhere else it was worse. I don’t consider a life expectancy of less than 50 years as an improvement, except of course, to those who follow the BS doctrine of Thomas Malthus. Whether there is warming or not depends on the start point. Taking 1350 as the datum, the planet has cooled, if we take the Holocine Optimum as our datum the planet has cooled 2 degrees (Celsius), although Wikipedia claims it was 0.3 degrees cooler, which tells us all we need to know about Wikipedia. Starting fro the Little Ice Age, of course there will be warming. It is called ‘cherry picking’. Climate science does it all the time, while accusing real science of doing it. Now, that is called projection.

      • conrad ziefle says:

I think Thomas Malthus and Karl Marx both received international awards (from Norway, perhaps) for failing to think outside the box, or should have.

        • arn says:

Hmm, Malthus’ Eugenics were so outside of the box 200 years ago as a thing could be I’d say.
The fact that Marx called Malthus’ stuff sensational and that Eugenics became mainstream amongst Billionaires(nowadays they call themselves philantrophs) in the early 20th century doesn’t make it a boxy thing in 1800.

What still makes Marx, Malthus and their Global Warming trojan CoRome child still so out of the box(for other reasons) is the
the deliberate ignorance of technical progress in favor
          of their narrative.
And ignoring reality is outside of every box.

Here’s your climate fear porn for the day. it tells us that Africa is becoming unlivable even though it’s doubled in population in the last 50 years or so. https://theconversation.com/heat-with-no-end-climate-model-sets-out-an-unbearable-future-for-parts-of-africa-274323

the Super bowl is over…. everybody’s in bed but me…. I have a moment to address the subject. anybody my age which is mid 60s, knows about the snow deficit at Lake placid New York during the 1932 Winter Olympics. I’m just going to guess but I think the CO2 level back then was maybe 330? (way way below today’s 420) “It was feared the 1932 Olympics at Lake Placid would be cancelled due to a lack of snow: January’s temperatures averaged nearly 13 degrees above normal. At one point, the entire bobsled run was washed out by heavy rain. Snow was hauled in by train to ensure the games would be held. A storm just days before the opening ceremonies helped, but warm temperatures caused problems throughout the games”.

    • conrad ziefle says:

330ppm? Desperately low for the continuation of life on Earth for the next 10 million years. What kind of planetary stewards would we be if we did not replenish the atmosphere with life-sustaining CO2, giving life to creatures millions of years after we are gone?

I was so much enjoying the 2026 Winter Olympics, held in Northern Italy, until I just found out that those Olympics are being held on “stolen land”. please somebody tell Billy Eilish. we need her to lead a boycott of the 2026 Winter Olympics which are clearly being held on stolen land. lol. “the Austrian Habsburg Empire controlled, occupied, or heavily influenced large parts of Northern Italy (including Milan, Venice, and Lombardy) for centuries until Italian unification was completed after World War I. Specifically, Lombardy–Venetia was a constituent crown land of the Austrian Empire from 1815 to 1866.
Key details of this historical relationship include:
Habsburg Rule: Austria (specifically the House of Habsburg) dominated regions from Trieste to Milan, with many areas like the Italian Tyrol (Trento and Bolzano) under Austrian rule since the 14th century.
19th Century Control: Following the Congress of Vienna in 1815, Austria solidified its control over Northern Italy, ruling the Kingdom of Lombardy–Venetia until1866”. Viva Austria! lol. But seriously for a moment, how was it that they … the Austrians, led by captain Von Trapp, could completely dominate the northern Italians and yet years later the Germans told them to jump and they said okay how high?

  8. Bob G says:

Today’s climate fear porn. soon will be too warm to have Winter Olympics. Really? why do they start their graph at 1950 when it’s well known that there was a distinct lack of snow cover at the 1924 and 1932 Olympics? oh yeah we know why. https://www.cnn.com/2026/02/10/climate/climate-change-snow-warming-winter-olympics-disaster

Breaking news…Trump decriminalizes plant food. But sadly that’s not how the left wing press described it. https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2026/02/video-trump-announces-termination-obama-era-endangerment-finding/. it just amazes me that half our country thinks Trump is the best president ever and the other half thinks he’s the worst. that poll is very disappointing to me as I think he’s the best. a smart woman I know insists that both parties are equal and the difference is just spin. Really? Really?!!!! open borders as opposed to closed borders is the same thing? lopsided tariff policies that hurt U.S. manufacturing is the same thing? changing subjects a bit did anybody see the richest man in Britain said having 12 million foreigners take residence in his country is not a good thing as most of them are on welfare? he was smeared almost from the moment he opened his mouth… and forced to backtrack. apparently if you are for common sense you are now labeled a racist. let’s be clear the left doesn’t care if they destroy Britain. four more years of Biden or Harris and we might be in the same boat… a sinking boat. just my opinion.

  10. conrad ziefle says:

The thing we have to face is that it takes only about 1/3 of a country to be fanatical enough to force themselves onto others for them to be able to do it. The Muslims know this; the Marxists know this, but we don’t know this. Our revolutionary fathers knew this. We may have to realize it into reality, or accept that they will do so.

  11. Bob G says:

this caught my eye. from The Wall Street journal. brutal winter in the Northeast while at the same time a dry winter with little snow in the West… so far. in fact, says the so-called news story, it’s the least amount of snow on record!!!! and how far back does the satellite record go? 25 years. What??? 25 years?! that’s all? oh yes the sky is definitely falling. lol. “The West recorded its lowest snow cover on record for the month of January since satellites began tracking that in 2001.”

    • conrad ziefle says:

I saw the same type of thing, except it was rain fall, I think, in Californicated, since records were kept-1987?! Okay, I was working utilities and had water conservation under my perview back before then. The current situation is not nearly as severe as then, when we are in a 6 year drought, and of course we had records back to 1900, formally, and through historical records back to the Spanish coming into the area.

  12. Bob G says:

Sadly …things seem to be slowing down on realclimatescience.com. we might have to switch…. and if that’s the case here’s a good alternative. wattsupwiththat.com. here’s an enticer…. somebody pointing out how big an idiot Keith olberman is. https://wattsupwiththat.com/2026/02/17/keith-olbermann-gets-whack-checked-by-meteorologist-chris-martz/. And in unrelated news Rosie O’Donnell has returned to North America. lol. those two… her and Keith… are two peas in a pod.

  13. conrad ziefle says:

Tony seems busy with the Visitech thing and maybe still on X. I hope the Visitech business goes well. I don’t like wading through the weeds at X. I’ve been following WUWT for a while. It seems to have a good collection of articles, fairly healthy group of commenters, although less personally satisfying. RealClimateScience always felt like home, or the country store where people gathered to talk. WUWH is more of a busy train station with lots of interesting stuff, but you get lost in the crowd. Maybe we’ll spot some of our friends there.

  14. Bob G says:

the so-called experts keep insisting that CO2 is an effective greenhouse gas despite the fact that the temperature can easily drop 30 degrees on a clear night. seems to me it’s a pretty ineffective greenhouse gas. nonetheless here’s more fear porn. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2026/feb/16/europe-climate-advisory-board-3c-global-heating. notice… it’s always going to happen…. in the future.
