The 100% Consensus Of Clueless Arctic Experts

Every single Arctic expert has failed with their Arctic sea ice forecasts. For the past 7 years they have been calling me “breathtakingly ignorant” for calling them out on their idiotic Arctic predictions

NASA climate scientist Jay Zwally said: “At this rate, the Arctic Ocean could be nearly ice-free at the end of summer by 2012, much faster than previous predictions.”

John Kerry: We Can’t Ignore the Security Threat from Climate Change

Because climate change in the Arctic region is occurring faster and to a greater extent than anywhere else, the Arctic Ocean may be ice-free for a short period of time as early as the summer of 2015, according to the 2009 Arctic Marine Shipping Assessment Report completed by the eight Arctic Council Nations.

Polar ice cap melting away in 2008 ?

The latest salvo comes courtesy of Xinhua, which reports that Olav Orheim, the head of the Norwegian International Polar Year Secretariat, is placing his money on this summer. Noting that its ice sheet had reached a historical low of 3m sq. km last summer – it covered around 7.5m sq. km as recently as 2000 – Orheim told Xinhua that “if Norway’s average temperature this year equals that in 2007, the ice cap in the Arctic will all melt away.”

In his speech, Mr Gore told the conference: “These figures are fresh. Some of the models suggest to Dr [Wieslav] Maslowski that there is a 75 per cent chance that the entire north polar ice cap, during the summer months, could be completely ice-free within five to seven years.”

2011

There are credible scientists who are now predicting an ice-free (summer) arctic by as early as 2013. The implications are mind boggling. The impact on wildlife, humans and the rest of the world’s weather patterns is impossible to predict for specific areas and to exact detail.

  1. They are blinded by their prejudices and the funds available IF they say the correct things. Hypocrites feeding at the trough of corruption. They are but paid hacks and nothing more.

  2. tom0mason says:

20 years I’ve waited and it looks like I’ll have to wait another 20 years before I can celebrate no Arctic ice.
The only thing that has been accelerating in 20 years of waiting, is the number of bad prediction of no Arctic ice next year.

  3. I predict that earth will be Obama/Kerry free in January 2017.

  4. bit chilly says:

you really need to have a look at this conversation steve http://forum.arctic-sea-ice.net/index.php/topic,778.2900.html it will provide much hilarity if nothing else. peter ellis is called a troll for providing accurate information regarding the massive reduction in melt rate ,whilst the frivoulous idiot is praised for posting modeled weather charts relating to 500mb g.p height, which even if observed and not modeled, matter not a jot as the near surface temperatures have been so low all summer.

it seems apart from one or two commentators the site is polluted by visually deluded alarmist clowns.to come to the same conclusions as the frivoulous idiot would require copious amounts of mind altering drugs.

  5. Eliza says:

This is the kind of posting that could really have a HUGE effect on MSM and mainstream warmists if they were able to actually get to it or have a look at it. There must be some way to get this out there. I suggest sending these postings regularly to all the mainstream media as a “BREAKING” or similar. Even BBC, NBC, ABC ect and the newspapers. Even if they BIN it one might take it up everytime. So far only 4 people (replies) here.

    • Gail Combs says:

Eliza, They would not “hear” you because it has NEVER been about the climate.

“We’ve got to ride this global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing in terms of economic and environmental policy.” – Timothy Wirth, President of the UN Foundation

Nat Geo: “ominous”, “much faster”, “screaming”. Is this science or a trailer for a disaster movie?

NEWS ITEM: NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope Construction Underway

SCENE: Sometime in the near future.

NASA breathlessly awaits the first report from the James Webb Space Telescope as it peers onto the maw of the strange monolithic object in the orbit of Jupiter.

Suddenly the robotic voice emerges from the ether, ?full of awe and wonder despite its electronic origin:

“My God! It’s full of HOCKEY STICKS!”

  8. Kent Clizbe says:

    Tony,

The alarmist global warmers are just repeating past generations’ failures. Those who don’t learn history are doomed to repeat it.

The De Long Arctic expedition is a great illustration of that maxim. De Long (expedition to the Arctic in 1879) believed that the Arctic Ocean was open at the poles. This belief was based on, wait for it…..predictions of “scientific” MODELS!

At least he had the courage of his convictions. He organized and led an expedition that aimed to enter the putative “Open Polar Sea” and explore it. Instead, his ship was trapped in the ice for months. He and his crew finally escaped by way of an epic 1000 mile cross-ice walk to Siberia. His model was wrong, and he proved it wrong! QED? No, clearly not.

Your quotes by sea ice “scientists” show that they have learned nothing from De Long’s marvelous sacrifice.

A recent article on De Long’s expedition said, “He discovered new lands, crossed a thousand miles of unexplored frozen ocean, and consigned a load of ridiculous theories—including the Open Polar Sea—to the dustbin.”

Well, the dustbin appears to be located in the Arctic sea ice community’s “scientific” journals now!

De Long, unlike today’s ideologically driven bureaucratic grant-mongering “scientists,” recognized his hypothesis as falsified, and moved on: “De Long had given up on the idea of the Open Polar Sea—the whole concept, he said in his journal, was “a delusion and a snare.”

If only they studied the De Long expedition in Global Warming boot camp…..

    • Billy Liar says:

Perhaps we could get Prof Chris Turney to replicate it? He’s got the necessary experience.

      • Kent Clizbe says:

        Billy,

        You’re spot on!

I think Turney already did replicate DeLong’s trip–except without the courage, fortitude, moral vision, leadership, science, data-gathering, and heroism that DeLong demonstrated.

Turney is to DeLong as a punk with a bottle rocket is to Neil Armstrong.

        • Gail Combs says:

Don’t insult the punk. At least he went out and got himself a bottle rocket and he probably has a heck of a lot more sense than the Chris Tmas Turkey.

I would not put that idiot in charge of a shopping trip to the local mall.

If you read between the lines, the reason they got stuck is because the Turkey was escorting a newly elected green party member on her Photo Op tour instead of returning to the ship as he was ORDERED TO. If I had been the Russian Captain I would have left his a$$ sitting on an iceberg.

  9. Gary H says:

Would be fun to see the 2013 extent line superimposed on the “Minimum Ice Extent” graphic in the BBC article.

PS – looks like 2014 is set to follow 2013.

    Would be a keeper.

Turn back the hands of time to 2012:

    http://www.vancouverobserver.com/blogs/climatesnapshot/arctic-death-spiral-leaves-climate-scientists-shocked-and-worried

    We. Were. Doomed.

“A “radical shift” is plunging the Arctic Ocean towards an ice-free state for the first time in millions of years. One of the world’s foremost ice experts, Professor Peter Wadhams of Cambridge University, calls it a “global disaster” that will cause such a big boost in global temperatures that even such extreme measures as geo-engineering need to be considered urgently.

    Just listen to this!

The trillion tonnes of CO2 pollution that people have released into the atmosphere from burning oil, coal and natural gas has acted like a blow torch on Arctic ice. A dozen pounds of Arctic sea ice has disappeared for every one pound of CO2 we have released. This highlights the incredible heating power of CO2 which pumps 100,000 times more energy into our climate than was given off when the oil, coal or natural gas was burned.

    The incredible heating-power of CO2!

Why didn’t we listen? …… Bwahahahahahahahhahaha!!

    Morons.

  11. Jim Hunt says:

From Kerry’s article that you link to Tony:

“Scientists project that the Arctic will be ice-free in the summer of 2013”

Do you still not comprehend the differences between:

    “Scientists” and “John Kerry”

    not to mention:

    “Project” and “predict”

    ??

    • NomoreGore says:

Jim, if the pattern of thickness and extent returns to something similar to the 70s…. as it appears it might in the next few years….then what will be the “trend”? If the mechanisms that lead it one way or another aren’t understood, it doesn’t matter if the word used is predict, project, or anything else. And it ceases to matter if more recent years were more often low in extent. proponents need to quit envisioning that natural systems must trend linearly, and think more like legitimate scientists who don’t project their visions into the natural world. The mechanisms aren’t known, but the pattern isn’t going to be a simplistic linear trend based on a trace gas.

    • Billy Liar says:

      Yawn.

    • Gail Combs says:

Do you still not comprehend the differences between:
      “Project” and “predict”

      >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.
Of course we do. “Project” and “Predict” are the two words the IPCC switches around when every they get caught with their pants hanging around their ankles.
