Plummeting poll ratings for Mrs Gillard suggest that she has borne the brunt of voter anger at a plan – designed to punish the worst polluters – that many fear will devastate the economy as the country scrambles to deal with the effects of climate change.
Australia relies on cheap coal for power generation but in the process has become the developed world’s worst producer of greenhouse gases.
Which effects? Cool temperatures? Abundant rain and snow?
This has to be the world’s stupidest religion. Faith brings no gain, only pain. It is more like a suicide cult.
The 2011 version of Heavens Gate:

“world’s worst producer of greenhouse gases”
=============================================
No it isn’t…it’s not even in the top 10…and neither is the U.S.
The correct way is per capita…
Qatar
Trinidad and Tobago
United Arab Emirates
Netherlands Antilles
Bahrain
Brunei
Kuwait
Luxembourg
Aruba
Falkland Islands
Oh wait, the UN has declared all of those countries “developing”…..
That means they don’t have to do anything, and get paid on top of it……
half of those are because of oil and gas refineries………..
So, IWB writes for De Innapennent, does she?
Seriously, what is this supposed to mean? Aussies are crappy people and they coincidentally produce “greenhouse” gases? Aussies produce the worst “greenhouse” gases? Aussies are the least capable at producing “greenhouse” gases? It really doesn’t make any sense.
It seems as if the warmist taliking points have been diseminted, and the instructions are to emphasize that the Aussie coal tax is going to “punish the worst polluters.”
Of course there is no qualification applied that the “worst polluters” are the guys that provide all of the energy that makes modern society viable. In my book that would make them the best polluters. Anyway Calling the power companies the “worst polluters” is kinda like saying that your brain is one of the worst consumers of calories in your body.
Also fuel & utility companies are just going to pass the “punishment” along to the consumers of their product through increased costs.
You can’t tax businesses…………………….

Yes, we do. Its weird businesses don’t want to go broke……. go figure.
is kinda like saying that your brain is one of the worst consumers of calories in your body.
Or blaming your stomach cos you are fat!
There was a typo in the news story. The sentence “…the country scrambles to deal with the effects of climate change.” is incorrect.
It should read “…the country scrambles to deal with the psychological effects of climate change hysteria.”
Children and academic elites are particularly vulnerable.
“This has to be the world’s stupidest religion. Faith brings no gain, only pain. It is more like a suicide cult.”
And their motto ? “You First “.
“Scrambles”, as in eggs.
The amount of difference our “action” will make is squat, ie close enough to zero.. but at least our politicians will have that warm fuzzy feeling that one can achieve by
“doing the right thing”.
What’s wrong with the Australian coal. If Chinese coal can cool the entire world, why can’t sissy Australian coal take care of a small place like Australia?
Ruling Class self-destructs. What’s not to like?
Maybe it’s time for a “where will they be in 2020?” contest. I’d imagine it will all be over by then.
(In fact, I suspect there will be much more important things to worry about long before then.)
