Reminder – Don’t Be A Sexist Climate Denier

Katherine McKenna says climate deniers are sexists for calling her Climate Barbie.

But it is OK for McKenna to compare anyone who disagrees with her insane ideas to Holocaust deniers.

Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe called Environment Minister Catherine McKenna “arrogant” on Twitter for suggesting politicians who object the Liberal government’s carbon tax are also climate change deniers.

New Ice Free Arctic Forecast

Arctic sea ice volume loss dropped again yesterday, so I am pushing my ice free-Arctic forecast date out to September 28, 2018 at 11:39 PM. There won’t be any sunlight on that date, but Reggie will be out there with his blowtorch.

Spreadsheet    Data

Note that my forecast is quite conservative compared to our leading climate scientists – who believe the Arctic has been ice-free for the past five years.

“our projection of (an ice-free Arctic in) 2013 is already too conservative.”

BBC NEWS | Science/Nature | Arctic summers ice-free ‘by 2013’

On the other hand, with cold weather in the forecast, the Arctic sea ice minimum volume could end up second or first highest in the DMI record.

10-Day Temperature Outlook

Ice volume melt rates have dropped 65% to their lowest level since early June.

Record Breaking Climate BS Sets Press Integrity On Fire

Early in life I had noticed that no event is ever correctly reported in a newspaper.

George Orwell

The usual criminals in the press are claiming record breaking heat in the Arctic and in Texas.

The Texas heatwave hasn’t even been in the ballpark of the 1980 heatwave, when the Dallas/Fort Worth area had 51 consecutive days over 100 degrees, averaged 105 degrees, and topped out at 119 degrees on June 26, 1980.

The number of 100 degree days in the Dallas/Fort Worth area has been average for June and July (nine days) so far. The frequency of 100 degree days has declined sharply since the 1950’s, when over 100 degrees was typical.

As far as the Arctic is concerned, temperatures near the North Pole have been consistently blow normal for the past two months.

Arctic sea ice volume is fourth highest in the last 15 years, and is declining very slowly.

Spreadsheet    Data

Hot weather is not uncommon near the Arctic Circle, which receives more solar radiation than any place else on Earth at mid-summer.

During June and July, the Arctic receives more solar radiation than Texas. The sun never sets there this time of year.

Arctic News: The Threat Of Arctic Albedo Change

Unlike the fake news of 2018, the year 1896 had actual record breaking heat, including one which killed 1,500 people in New York City. Australia’s worst heatwave occurred during January, 1896. Arizona also had their record heatwave that year, with Parker, Az over 120 degrees every day from June 11 to June 17.

End Of Summer Arctic Sea Ice

Spreadsheet    Data

Arctic sea ice volume is currently in fourth place behind 2003, 2004 and 2014.  Given the rapid slowdown in melt rates and cold weather forecast, it seems pretty likely 2018 will pass 2003 and 2014, and it is possible could pass 2004 as well.

New Ice-Free Arctic Forecast

Arctic sea ice volume loss slowed again yesterday, so I am changing my ice-free Arctic forecast to September 21, at 4:59 pm.

Spreadsheet    Data

Another theory by the New York Times is that the Arctic has been ice-free since 1989.

Expert Says Arctic Ocean Will Soon Be an Open Sea – Catastrophic Shifts in Climate Feared

However, I have noticed a competing trend. Here in Boulder at the 40th parallel, days are a half hour shorter than they were a month ago.  This means that the world will be completely dark in 29 months, which could potentially cause temperatures to drop – offsetting the ongoing increase in CO2.

Regardless of which problem is more serious, it is clear that government intervention and massive taxation is needed to prevent these catastrophic events from occurring.

Hot July 22nd’s

This date in 1926 was the hottest on record in New York State, at 108 degrees. There were 100 degree temperatures fro Louisiana to New Hampshire.

The hottest July 22nd was in 1901, with the average afternoon temperature across the US at 96 degrees. It was 112 degrees in Illinois and Indiana, and 110 degrees in Iowa and Wisconsin.

On this date in 1934, more than one third of the US was over 100 degrees. It was 112 degrees in Indiana, and 110 degrees in Illinois.

Look What Your SUV Did Before 1940

A standard trick for climate alarmists is to post before and after pictures showing what your SUV did to glaciers over the past century.

They don’t mention that the ice loss occurred before 1940.

The National Geographic Archive

And never mind that the glaciers were much smaller during the Medieval Warm Period, or when Hannibal took elephants across the Alps.

from perhaps the tenth to the sixteenth centuries, the glaciers of the Alps were much less extensive than at present.

At present they are in general retreating … almost as rapid as at Glacier Bay (Alaska)

Exit Glacier, Alaska – An Icon Of Climate Fraud

Retreating Exit Glacier has become an icon of climate change – Anchorage Daily News

The Exit Glacier in Alaska has been retreating since the Little Ice Age.  Barack Obama took a selfie in front of the glacier to highlight climate change.

In a sense, Obama was correct – the Exit Glacier was retreating much faster one hundred years ago than it is now.

The Retreat of Exit Glacier.pdf

I took the National Park Service table above, added 600 meters of retreat since 1974 based on the map in the Anchorage Daily News, and graphed the retreat rates since 1815.  The glacier was retreating much faster before 1918 than it has been since 1918.

Spreadsheet

As is normally the case in climate science, the data shows the exact opposite of the claim being made.

July 20, 1934 – Hottest Day On Record In Iowa

On July 25, 1934 Iowa set their official high temperature record of 118 degrees. The average maximum temperature around the US that day was 95 degrees, with 54% of the US above 95 degrees, and 34% of the US above 100 degrees.

US July 20 afternoon temperatures have plummeted since the 1930’s.

Eighty percent of the US was in severe or extreme drought that month.

Keeping Up With The Democrats

George Orwell introduced the language of doublespeak in his dystopian novel “1984”published in 1949. Doublespeak is the language of opposites. Up is down and down is up. The word doublespeak derives from two Orwellian words “doublethink” and “newspeak.”

Doublethink is when a person accepts two mutually contradictory thoughts as correct without being aware or troubled by the glaring contradiction between them.

Doublethink statements like “war is peace” “freedom is slavery” “ignorance is strength” are made without discomfort. Newspeak is a method of controlling thought through language – it is the language of fake news.

Doublespeak combines doublethink and newspeak in language that deliberately obscures, distorts, disguises, or reverses the meaning of words to manipulate public opinion in a mass social engineering effort.
