Record Breaking Climate BS Sets Press Integrity On Fire

Early in life I had noticed that no event is ever correctly reported in a newspaper.

George Orwell

The usual criminals in the press are claiming record breaking heat in the Arctic and in Texas.

The Texas heatwave hasn’t even been in the ballpark of the 1980 heatwave, when the Dallas/Fort Worth area had 51 consecutive days over 100 degrees, averaged 105 degrees, and topped out at 119 degrees on June 26, 1980.

The number of 100 degree days in the Dallas/Fort Worth area has been average for June and July (nine days) so far. The frequency of 100 degree days has declined sharply since the 1950’s, when over 100 degrees was typical.

As far as the Arctic is concerned, temperatures near the North Pole have been consistently blow normal for the past two months.

Arctic sea ice volume is fourth highest in the last 15 years, and is declining very slowly.

Hot weather is not uncommon near the Arctic Circle, which receives more solar radiation than any place else on Earth at mid-summer.

During June and July, the Arctic receives more solar radiation than Texas. The sun never sets there this time of year.

Unlike the fake news of 2018, the year 1896 had actual record breaking heat, including one which killed 1,500 people in New York City. Australia’s worst heatwave occurred during January, 1896. Arizona also had their record heatwave that year, with Parker, Az over 120 degrees every day from June 11 to June 17.

As far as I can tell, the press lies about essentially everything.

Come August there is a big cool down coming for Texas and global warming will have to move else where. In the US that location will be the left coast. That is until there is an Atlantic Hurricane threatening to make landfall. The chasing of weather stories to try and support the climate change meme never ends.

  2. Bill says:

Give the weather forecasters their time. There hasn’t been much to get excited about in Texas this year after the snowfalls in winter. Typical Texas July, but it gives the forecasters a chance to do something different after a few mundane months and issue advisories and get excited on TV. As for the electrical use…all the transplanted Californians are putting increased pressure on ERCOT’s grid. Doesn’t stop the enviro-zealots from pushing their 100% renewable guff.
We’re watching Germany, Australia, and Canada pull back from the edge of the renewable cliff. Meanwhile, the response from the Texas enviro-zealots while trying to implement the same policies is: “Hold my beer.”

If they want to get their rocks off looking and a windfarm then tell them to move west of DFW somewhere along I-20 or down into the Rio Grande valley north of Brownsville where they have a couple farms with the really supersized bird choppers.

      • Weylan McAnally says:

Was just down there visiting South Padre Island. On Hwy 100 I saw the MEGA bird choppers. In one farm, three windmills out of 20 were motionless.

I was reading this article : Are the using the 41.0 C REALFEEL® as the basis of that claim for the record?

Meanwhile on the political front the Trump team is indulging in a little theater to get under the skin of the leftist press and their primary sources of leaks.

Briefing room audibly gasped when @PressSec said POTUS is looking into pulling the security clearances of Brennan, Clapper, Comey, Hayden, Rice, and McCabe

This really should mean nothing material and be just optics since no matter the clearance none that are no longer in government service have a need to know and thus should not be able to access or be given classified info.

But perhaps it is a chess move in a bigger game.

  5. Weylan McAnally says:

I live in DFW currently and in 1980. I worked an outdoor construction job that summer as a teenager. The temp would be 90 degrees at 9am. I was painting a metal building with a roller. The metal was so hot that the paint would dry in seconds after being applied. This summer, while warmer than the past few summers, is nothing special.

I also spent the summer of 1976 in Valdez, AK. There were several days that summer where the temps reached the upper 80s and reached the lower 90s on a couple. The sun never sets. The produce that grows during their short growing season gets rather large since they receive sunlight 24 hrs per day.
