The Incredible Heatwave Of 1921

The Great Storm of May 1921: An Exemplar of a Dangerous Space Weather Event – Hapgood – 2019 – Space Weather – Wiley Online Library

On this date in 1921, the Eastern two thirds of the country was extremely hot, with Caruthersville, Missouri at 102 degrees and Hobart, Indiana at 100 degrees.

The heatwave of 1921 never let up all summer. Caruthersville had 71 days over 100 degrees.

1921 had the third highest average maximum temperature in the US since 1895

If we had a summer like that now, climate scientists would be 100% certain it was due to CO2, and would demand immediate world communism.

Tenth Anniversary Of The Windsor Tornado

Ten years ago today, Windsor Colorado was largely destroyed by a half mile wide tornado.  I was just a few miles away and drove through there right after the tornado hit.  Hundreds of homes were destroyed and there was natural gas leaking everywhere.

That morning was warm and very humid, and the clouds were green. I knew there was going to be tornadoes as soon as I looked out the window that morning.

Arctic Ice Dangerously Close To Normal

As I predicted at the beginning of the month, Arctic melt has been very slow this month and both volume and extent of Arctic sea ice are close to “normal.”

May 22 Temperatures Declining In Iowa

Prior to 40 years ago, 90 degree temperatures were common in Iowa on May 22, including 101 degrees at Logan, Iowa on May 22, 1925.  Every location in Iowa was over 90 degrees that day. There haven’t been any 90 degree temperatures in Iowa on May 22 for over 40 years.

It was even hotter in Illinois on May 22, 1925 – when Danville reached 103 degrees.

Settled Science In Iceland

Settled science at NASA means constantly rewriting the past.  Here are a few of the NASA Reykjavik, Iceland temperature graphs I have captured over the past six years.
