   NASA should stick to adjusting US data and let other countries handle their own stinking data adjustment.

   While visiting Alice Springs several years ago, I took a tour of the old telegraph office north of town. It’s located outside of any UHI influences. An old, but smaller, Stevenson screen is still located at the historic park; but has not been the location of the official temperature record for many years. The official thermometer is now out at the airport south of town. I don’t know when the change was made but with the current thermometer located at the airport; you’d expect to see a negative correction to account for all that concrete and jet wash.

   My guess is that NASA makes their corrections “en masse” without care as what the history is or the siting issues are.

   NASA, DOE, etc. have a very long track record of hiding or ignoring data that falsify post-WWII consensus models of

   2. Nuclei

   From the Climategate emails. Not sure what effect this eventually had on “adjustments”, but they were sure thinking about it:
   Australia is blue on all maps for 1958-2001 as all surface data is too warm before 1967
   by 1 deg C at least.

   We are more than capable of “adjusting” our own.

   Alice springs original data is still available on the BOM 1897-1950 the station at the airport is there as well 1941-2013 – what data is supplied that is part of the ACORN data set and supplied to GISS (I presume) I have no idea. These links show the real situation – Alice was warmer 1870 – 1950 than it was 1943-2013

   Some Greek or other said that with a big enough lever he could move the world. Alarmists have their hands on such a lever and are determined never to let go or stop pulling on it (unless it is pried from their cold, dead hands?)
