Media Matters tells their readers that time began during the 1970’s ice age scare.
Right-Wing Globe Contains Less Than Two Percent Of The Earth | Blog | Media Matters for America
There is no long term trend in zero degree weather in Missouri. As always, Media Matters is working to make their readers stupid left wing criminals, like themselves.
They knew people wouldn’t believe them if they went back to global cooling so they went with climate change instead, then no matter what happens we need to give Al Gore money.
Thanks to Climategate emails, Al Gore and official responses by leaders of the scientific community, sixty-eight years of deceptive “settled science” (2014 – 1946 = 68 yrs) are now crumbling.
1. Experts have now changed their opinion about stellar energy and diplomatically claimed they already knew the truth 40 years ago.

2. Chapter 3 of my autobiography will show that life and breath were designed into the universe by having the

b.) The long-range, weak force of gravitational attraction

When first we practice to deceive.”
Thread bomber.
Cooling the past does assist them in keeping the “change” story going.
How long until they figure-out they also have to change the record highs and lows?
How long until they demand all the old printed records be burned as “inconvenient truths”??
Wasn’t in the 90’s where the PDO went slightly negative, plus you had cooling due to the Mt. Pinatubo eruption?
This is something that amazes me about the warmist zeitgeist. They hang their hats on the 1 degree F purported increase over the last +100 years. They achieve this by taking all the temperature readings (that they have) over the globe and averaging them together. They then claim that the majority of the temperature increase occurred in the polar regions, but they act like an individual should be able to discern a noticeable change in temperature in a given locale over the last 10 -15 years because og AGW. While they hold this crazy view they remain self satisfied that they’re the smart ones.
… While they hold this crazy view they remain self satisfied that they’re the smart ones….
No, they are self satisfied because they are allied with the ones who have power and money. They have nothing but contempt for the ‘Great Unwashed’
Feminist Gloria Steinem received America’s highest honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, from Obama. Celebrating her award at the National Press Club, Steinem said she hoped Obama’s action would be “honoring the work of Margaret Sanger.”
Quotes form an ‘Upstanding’ Leader
Margaret Sanger, Founder of Planned Parenthood
“The most merciful thing that a large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it.” ~ Margaret Sanger, Women and the New Race
“We should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social service backgrounds and with engaging personalities … We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.” ~Woman’s Body, Woman’s Right: A Social History of Birth Control in America, by Linda Gordon
Hilary Clinton also admires Sanger: http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/archive/ldn/2009/apr/09040306
Julian Huxley, first director-general, of UNESCO was another Eugenicist. link As is Obama. NC Planned Parenthood director is a buddy and Obama funded NC Planned Parenthood when the NC legislature cut their funding. John Holdren, his science czar co-authored a book advocating for eugenics.
Eugenics is no longer talked of in the open but the Royal Society hosted a pro-eugenics conference in 2004.
#1 Steinem shouldn’t be anywhere near a “Presidential Medal of Freedom.”
#2 Steinem dissed errand boy Obama right out in the open. Even libtards know of Sanger’s controversial views on racial eugenics.
BHO praises a Grand Wizard of the KKK at his wake. BHO shuts down funding for African coal electrical plants. I’m sure Heinz & Soros must consider BHO a credit to his race.
It’s convenient how that comic cherry-picked only the St. Louis temperature readings instead of using the more inclusive all-Missouri data.
It’s also pretty convenient how the graph in the comic starts in 1970 and ends at 2000. Talk about cherry-picking…
The cartoon is from a website xkcd.com. I admit, I was disappointed to see it. The creator of the site is a really bright guy with a really good science background — but he has apparently done the same thing that a lot of bright people have, he has trusted (wrongly) that the big names in so-called “climate science” are competent truth tellers.
It is odd… No astronomer would think that judging astronomical distances should be done by basing interstellar distances on how far apart things are around his neighborhood — and yet lots of really bright people think that long term climate (how cold is St. Louis?) can be estimated by starting from 1970. Even going back to 1900 or 1800 is barely a decent start — but at least we have the excuse of lack of records before that.
Do check out his web site though…
Perhaps the author of this site needs a refresher on what the issue we are confronting. Global Climate Change. The problem is not the weather in St Louis or the fact that “most” of the United States had a colder winter than average. If you have a globe, I suggest you take it out of storage and try to calculate the surface area of the planet (Globe) that the US occupies. Even including Alaska it’s less then 3% of the total area. I know, I know. We are so self important, it feels like we should occupy more.
Globally, this January was the fourth warmest on record. The top three occurred after 2000.
Take a look at this page and let me know what you think.
https://www2.ucar.edu/climate/faq/how-much-has-global-temperature-risen-last-100-years
According to RSS satellite data, January was close to the post-1979 median. But thanks for the mindless hysterics.
Which part of my comment was mindlessly hysterical? Maybe you can share the site that states January was close to that median…

I second Steven’s comment.
PHodges posted this link elsewhere and it contradicts your UCAR.
But why should we be having an extremely cold winter when we’re 15 years beyond the top of the original Hockey Stick? (Have you forgotten which direction it was going?) And where in the Northern Hemisphere was it warm enough to make the aggregate temperature for January the “fourth warmest on record”? Or were large swaths of the Southern Hemisphere just broiling? (And, if so, was it enough to melt away some of that ice in Antarctica this past month? I don’t recall hearing anything about that.)
“… I suggest you take it out of storage and try to calculate the surface area of the planet (Globe) that the US occupies. Even including Alaska it’s less then 3% of the total area… I know, I know. We are so self important, it feels like we should occupy more.

Speak for youreslf. Your Ilk are so self important that they think that they can control the GLOBAL climate by espousing superficially self depricating notions and driving a car that may marginally get a tad more mpg.
Ilk? I live in the jungle. In Costa Rica. I willfully left your “culture” long ago. And by the way, yes I ride a motorcycle and live in a solar powered house.
If you can’t stay on topic and make an intelligent comment on the facts, maybe you should go back to watching Duck Dynasty or Glen Beck. Also, you probably need a keyboard with bigger keys, pal. Quite a few typos…
stay on topic? I addressed your literal quote.
Definition of ilk (n)
[ ilk ]
1.sort: a kind or sort of person or thing
——————————————–
I’m not sure why you bristle at the term ilk. Like most warmists you are typical anti-American sort so own it proudly. Since you’ve already expatriated yourself there’s really not much point in continuing your obsession with Beck and Duck Dynasty. They’re hardly coming to get you down there.
I’m confused: are you saying that Missouri is only 3% of the globe, or that St. Louis is larger, & more representative than Missouri?
I mean, as far as I can tell, Randall Munroe is claiming that St. Louis is representative of the whole globe, ergo Missouri (as a superset of St. Louis) should reflect the same trend only more so, right?
Andre, I must admit that I am personally concerned more about that bit of the global temperature that actually effects me in some way. A bit more or less sea ice in the Arctic really doesn’t make any difference other than as a bit of an indicator.
Trying to convince people to be afraid of some sort of global average (packed with adjustments) is basically nuts. No one has any reason to care. People who live in the tropics will have hot weather all the time, they are used to it.
Oh, you mean like the USA running out of rock salt to the roads and propane to heat schools?
You mean a 50% increase in arctic ice and record breaking Antarctic Sea Ice?
Or perhaps stories like these that never make it into the US news?

I’d call that a spanking, Andre… yours. And she’s just getting started.
And after Gail gets done…”Next!”
Oh-oh here she comes, watch out boy she’ll chew you up, Oh-oh here she comes, she’s a Mann-eater!
“The 4th warmest on record.” The question nobody seems to ask is: what’s the definition of ‘on the record’? From what I know, detailed temperature records of the kind that allow one to say “warmest or coldest on record” only go back to 1880 or 1885. So one is only looking at a 135 years of record. The 4th warmest out of 135 when we don’t have comparable records of the other 4 billion does not mean a thing nor does make a trend.
Yes, every month is one of the warmest on record even though it’s close to the coldest on record.
If you want to believe that only the United States are immune from warming, I have a nice bridge I would like to sell to you.
wait!…..the red line goes up….and up means global warming
Today, geek culture guru and NY Times Magazine columnist Maggie takes one small step closer to realizing the great fraud of the green machine, reporting on the hypocricy of leftists who speak of Gaian religious sacrifice (going solar etc.) whereas it’s actually Republicans who actually outnumber them in actual real life energy efficiency efforts:
http://boingboing.net/2014/02/21/republicans-like-energy-effic.html
She wrote a book on energy policy that Amazon.com reviews indicate sidesteps nuclear.
I’m banned on BoingBoing despite having had my own design products occasionally featured there. They have the usual ban campaign readership. If you express the same opinion over time they label it crossposting and talking point spam, as they themselves parrot Al Gore.
I live in St Louis and we’ve had a few more sub zero days since the XKCD guy wrote his dopey cartoon, so he should be happy, I guess.
The original XKCD comic had the same selective start date bias. You would be better off complaining to the XKCD author who has some clue, rather than complaining about Media Matters who have no clue at all.
http://xkcd.com/1321/
I think there’s a deeper point that any hot day or Hurricane Sandy that comes along will immediately beat the drums for Global Warming. Beyond that, plenty of government departments (e.g. UK Met Office, or Australian of the Year Tim Flannery) made specific predictions about hot summers and drought that were proven absolutely wrong.
So, if the XKCD author is trying to point out a fallacy of confusing long term trends with short term events then out of fairness bashing the warmists in equal amounts would just be the decent thing to do.
On that note, if you want to complain in the forums for xkcd, they can be found at echochamber.me. It’s not listed on the front page to avoid spam.
Here’s the discussion thread for the comic in question.

Gail,
Selfishness, self-centeredness is the basic problem in individuals and in organizations.
The inhabitants of planet Earth will find a way to hang together and share information honestly, or . . .
We will die separately, unexpectedly.
Please take a minute to look at the cherry-picking of data in the 1955 textbook of nuclear physics cited in Chapter 2 of my autobiography.
Although this deceit was for a noble goal – to save mankind from possible nuclear annihilation by hiding neutron repulsion in cores of heavy elements – the consequences for mankind have been an inability to safely harvest nuclear energy when the Sun cools.
