Please Help : Blowtorch Needed To Assist Arctic Voyagers
This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Bookmark the permalink.
A yes, I’m sure ships are sailing through the NW passage right now. Cabin boys wearing shorts and no shirts serving the passengers sitting on their deck chairs watching a poor polar bears drown while getting great tans in their bathing suits. Probably need SP30.
Where is Jim Hunt, I need a laugh!
I don’t think a blow torch would even help them.
Maybe they can make their way to Russian waters where Putin can show them to a nice warm jail cell.
Got my laughing out loud way over here… Thanks!!
Russian jail cells are so progressive. No evil burning of fossil fuels to generate heat and all the organic gruel they can eat.
Makes Gaia so happy.
Well, they could ask those greenpeacers for some tips on the best way to make the time pass.
I wonder how long it will be before any of that organization goes head to head with Putin again …
They are going to need a BIG blowtorch. Maybe two or more. With wheels… or perhaps wings. Well, heck, we’ve gone this far, might as well put a pressurized cabin on it and call it a jet airplane.
Yeah, that’s the ticket!
Why not just mount half a dozen jet Turbines onto a large hovercraft or two … when they hit the pressure ridges, that ought to be the next best thing to snow boarding moguls.
That sounds like great fun! The really crazy part is that I can see some of the CAGW crowd trying something like that and burning up tons of fuel in the process. Worried about the fragile Artic because of climate change? Burn a bunch of diesel fuel on a pleasure trip to the ice. For people who supposedly think there is too much CO2 in the world, they sure make a LOT of it. Their cult leaders fly all over the world (often in private aircraft) cranking out massive amounts of CO2. During the meeting that produced the Kyoto Agreement, Al Gore had his private limousine parked for hours with the motor running all the time. Why? So that when the time to leave came, he would not have to wait a few minutes before the air conditioner caught up.
My brother and his wife a big CAGW believers. How do they spend vacations? Driving a big RV all over the US so that they can see the beautiful sights.
I have a nice Wagonette that seats six and a tent I can sell them….
It gets about 25 to thirty miles per gallon of oats.
Hey Gail! Nice wagonette! If the carbon tax people have their way, you may see a better market for selling that.
The methane from the oats can be quite taxing as well… 🙂
They could drop a nuke. That should fix the too much ice problem. 🙂
I suppose the snorkelers are now stuck in ice.

From the link: “Sedna (the Inuit Goddess of the Sea) will join the 10 sea women during their Northwest Passage Snorkel Relay. From one day to the next she’ll take the form of different marine animals: a narwhal, a bowhead whale, a ringed seal.”
I sure hope they have their theology worked out right. I think they may need it.
No they got stuck in the shallows of lack of funding.

Then they changed the date of the expedition to 2016 and substituted a ‘proof of concept’ expedition this year on 12-28 July. They apparently arrived in Nain, Labrador on Jul 13th and embarked on a cruise to Nuuk in Greenland in the M/V Cape Race:
http://sednaepic.com/category/sedna-blog
On Jul 29th they appear to have gone from Nuuk to Iceland to dive in the Silfra fissure at Thingvellir on a tourist tour – no report as yet.
Perhaps their motto is: ‘Having fun diving at other peoples expense’
They realized that their pocket knives might not be quite enough to do the trick 😉

No problem, the HMS Reggie will be front and centre.
It’s not looking good so far people doing the NW Passage, having said that it has been very good in the past few years compared to the recent record.
Andy
Thanks, Andy. I was curious if someone will provide a serious and substantive commentary on the NW Passage instead of all the horsing around.
Your analysis is right on the money: it’s been not good, then it was good, and now it’s not good again.
I would only add that some had it not good even when the passage was good.
Considering this blog is called Real Science there are not too many really good posts on here apart from Real Jokers….
They are in effect dumbing down your blog Steve .. you should ban them.
As Oscar Wilde once said “Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit”
Boring
Andy
That explains the 400,000 page views this week, thanks.
Tony, you promote more real science here in one day than Real Climate and SkS do in a year. How? By showing real data — the one thing that the alarmist hand wringers don’t want to publicize. Over at Real Climate their last post was three weeks ago. Their last comment is five days old.
Oh yeah… a real bee hive of activity there. 🙂
Those guys know that if it weren’t for the moron in the White House their scam would already be dead.
The Progressive Useful Idiots are Flutterbys. Few if any have the attention span to actually read more than a paragraph or stay on a subject.
Look, over there . . A banana tree on the lawn of that big White House!
SQUIRREL!!!
“Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit”
It may be the lowest but it is still funny, when you’re in on the joke.
😉
And sarcasm is my all time favorite!!!
I don’t care if Oscar Wilde thinks my humor is of the lowest form. He’s not around to object to my humor…….
Oscar Wilde didn’t like sarcasm because he was often the butt of the sarcastic remark.
It is a shame that Andy did not finish the rest of the quote.
“Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit and yet the highest form of intelligence”
Heh. More so given my first reaction above to Andy’s properly scientific commentary.

Does the online world need an HTML tag for “nasal tone”?
And actually that is merely one person’s opinion – who said it because he never got it. But to idiots, he is a god because of his stupidity. can you imagine what that makes them?
Tony,
In case youâ??re worried about losing access to the old newspaper archive from Google, just skipâ??em.
Archives.com has a good old newspaper searching utility.
Also the National Endowment for the Humanities has a newspaper archive:
