Thirty Years Of The James Hansen Clown Show

It has been thirty years since CO2 hit 350 PPM and NASA’s James Hansen warned that the Midwest was going to burn up and dry up.

24 Jun 1988, 1 – The Miami News at

Since Hansen predicted heat and drought for the Midwest 30 years ago, they have had above normal precipitation almost every year.

James Hansen has an incredible record of misprediction and junk science, which is why Democrats love him so much. To his credit – he did get one thing right though.

Add on year on year the world is harvesting bumper crops due to benign weather.

How are sales of snorkels going in Manhattan this year?

Can you imagine the volume of email Hansen must receive from Ms Griff? Because we all know that Ms Griff is all about correcting errors.

  5. John Plummer says:

How much longer can the MSM keep peddling this climate-Armageddon’s-a-comin’ garbage? Do they EVER read any history?!!

  6. Robertv says:

A lot of very bad things have happend in those 30 years but not because of climate outside the ‘normal’.

  7. arn says:

Climate Science is as much about science as the Federal Reserve is about reserves and being federal=0.
It”s just the standard psychopathic trick of blaming others of the crimes you commit
and giving yourself well-sounding names and titles while calling others names like Nazis,Hitlers((no coincidence that
Al Gore,Obama and Kissinger got the noble peace prize)

  8. Kent Clizbe says:

Tangentially related, as their alarm is based on Hansen’s “science:” is a very good source for sky-related info–moon and star happenings. When they venture into the Earth side, they are in the whacko alarmist camp.

They reliably parrot whatever alarming press release NASA/GISS, etc promulgate. Thus, today they crow that March 2018 is almost “the warmest ever!”

If anyone is interested, their comments section has been opening up to debate recently. There is usually a lively back and forth, with the apocalypse-mongers out-numbering Realists.

Some real numbers, and insights into GISS’s methods for adjusting temperatures, are needed in the discussion.

    Is anyone game?

  9. Brad says:

Hot here today 73/75 fahrenheit. Tommorow the hottest with some places getting to 81/83 Fahrenheit.

      Sounds great.

I understand you are in Belgium.
Here is the April MAXTEMP trend for Belgium from GHCND.
Let us know if you manage to break the aprox 86-87F record that happened first time 1949.
We are waiting for a nice 20C here is Stockholm tomorrow. All depends on clouds.

Good timing of this article, Tony. You may know that “unknown sponsors” at the Royal Ontario Museum paid for Hansen to lecture two days ago on 16th April. But, his flight could not land at Toronto, Pearson AP. (See new clip attached). It occurred to me that the NASA-GISS un- doctored SS temperature graph that G Schmidt sent to Senator Roberts might not be the one that Hansen put up in his talk. Please can you refer me to your article that shows the December ’17 letter from Schmidt to Roberts. Also, identify the “revised, adjusted” temperature graph. It would be nice to point out the discrepancy when Hansen visits Toronto in May to make his pitch to “conditioned Canadians.” Thks 4 all you do. John

You forgot one. And as a scientist I think it is probably his
biggest claim but one that is often overlooked or not understood:

“But today Dr. James E. Hansen of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration told a Congressional committee that it was 99 percent certain that the warming trend was not a natural variation but was caused by a buildup of carbon dioxide and other artificial gases in the atmosphere.”

He states that he is 99% certain, which implies that it should be possible to make the
case for AGW just using the data prior to 1988. In 1978 they were worried about Global Cooling, yet, just a DECADE later, Hansen is up in front of THE CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES, with a claim that AGW is happening with 99% certainty and that he is so confident of his finding / determination he telling Congress about it.

As a scientist, I am really interested in what happened during those ten years, what data led him to his conclusion and where do I find it and how do I reproduce or concur with his findings? In science 10 years is an incredibly short period.

    • annieoakley says:

“Carbon dioxide and other ‘artificial’ gases in the atmosphere”? How does he get away with this statement? Good grief.

      • paul courtney says:

anniesureshot: The answer is simple, really. Ordinarily a charlatan posing a scientist who is so obvious at fudging key points would be exposed by the press. On other issues, such a fudge would be blood on the water for journalist/sharks. On this issue, the press is so thoroughly awash in progressives who believe Hansen is a climate prophet (not a religion at all, this climate science) that they don’t even see the pulitzer prize in front of their collective noses. The press is, unfortunately, the key.

    • Disillusioned says:

AGW isn’t about science. It’s a political agenda masquerading as science. It’s about a global government and a global Marshall Plan.

    • Bart says:

I would guess he just made that grand leap from the idea that increasing CO2 could, all things being equal, result in increasing temperature to the conclusion that it would, and all things would just play along.

An experienced, hands-on scientist, humbled by years of having almost certain conclusions nixed by experiments, would never have been so bold. Most of these guys have never gotten their hands dirty from anything but keyboard grunge.

      • annieoakley says:

If it is an artificial atmosphere, wouldn’t everything be dead? No plants, animals of any type could survive breathing or using artificial gases. And what is an artificial gas anyway?

    • R. Shearer says:

The change happened early to mid-1970’s, see for example this paper.

By 1979, the National Academy of Sciences was on board with warming and the gravy train left the station. Before then, climate scientists were relatively rare.

  13. Joel says:

Where is James Hansen now. He is out of the limelight since his Paris comments. He is a new kind of skeptic.
People forget that Hansen was a serious researcher on the Venus atmosphere. My bet is that he simply transferred his theories about Venus to the Earth.

    • Frank Lee Annoid says:

Hansen currently works as an Adjunct Professor of Earth and Environmental Studies at Columbia University’s Earth Institute, where he directs a Climate Science, Awareness and Solutions program.(brainwashing the next generation…)

  14. larry says:

Hear tell that James granddaughter will be in court, in October, preaching her grandfathers lies, here in Eugene Or. Several other young brainwashed youth will also be in the same court room, to testify how climate change is hurting them personally. No jury just a district judge.

  15. Mark Pawelek says:

Regarding Hansen’s 1988 claim that he had evidence for CO2 influence on the climate.

According Bernie Lewis “Searching for the Catastrophe Signal”: in 1995, IPCC were on the verge of being sacked as climate advisors. 1) Politicians wanted a more pliable body & 2) IPCC had shot itself in the foot by insulting all the poor countries when they had valued Western lives 10× to 15× more than humans from poor countries, in one of their reports. So IPCC had no allies & plenty of enemies. Up to 1996, IPCC said they could not confirm CO2 climate causality until global average temperatures rose another 0.5°C. Expected to happen between 2005 and 2050, depending on which climate model you believe. Up to then, 97% of climate scientists disbelieved in human-induced CO2 climate warming. Then Ben Santer, discovered some dodgy evidence. I don’t think it was cross-correlated, but within a few years 97% believed they needed to kowtow to keep their jobs, and IPCC kept their role & influence as climate advisors.

What was Hansen’s 1988 evidence, surely not one of his models?

  16. Pyrthroes says:

On the threshold of a 70+ year Grand Solar Minimum similar to that of 1645 – 1715, the question is not whether Hansen and his grotesque gang of AGW hysterics are fools or knaves, but how northern hemispheric countries are going to salvage populations in wake of Luddite sociopaths’ decades-long, willful sabotage of coal, oil, nuclear energy economies.

Make no mistake: From Paul Ehrlich’s astoundingly obtuse “Population Bomb” fifty years ago (1968) to crypto-communards such as Gangrenous’ death-eating “science advisor” John Holdren (read, slush-fund bagman), deviant warmists hate humanity– and they want you dead.

We understand that objective, rational, scientific fact means nothing to these highchair-banging thugs (as if thirty years were not a statistically definitive time-frame). But as years wear on, and even climatologists acknowledge that Earth’s 12,250-year Holocene Interglacial Epoch ended with Kamchatka’s super-volcano Kambalny Eruption in AD 1350, precipitating a 500-year Little Ice Age (LIA) through c. 1850 – ’90, the prospect of periodically resurgent 102-kiloyear global Pleistocene glaciations will prove too ominous to dismiss.

There is a lot of water in Lake Superior right now. Lake Superior could be within 2 inches of its all-time record high levels for every one of the next six months, based on the last 100 years of gauge measurements.

It was 30 years ago today

and the world is gonna fry
So let me introduce to you
the truth after all these years
    Hansen’s doomsday global warming scam

  20. gregole says:

Hansen puts the “mad” back in “mad scientist”.

But don’t worry. Nothing he predicted has happened. He’s just another loud-mouthed nut. He’s insane.
