What a joke. Look at the green disaster in Ontario. Wind turbines force the spilling of water at our hydro dams, and then we give the power to the Americans. Don’t let it happen.

  2. Psalmon says:

This is literally now a train to nowhere. I grew up in Sacramento, fished all over the state reservoirs and river delta with my dad. There is nothing in this part of the valley but farms and small towns. The parallel highways are excellent. The towns are not destinations like Boston or Chicago…You need a car to go anywhere. Nobody will use this train to go from Merced to Bakersfield. The people in these counties voted AGAINST the bond issue for this train. It will be abandoned with in three years if it ever begins service.

The only reason CA wants to finish this section is the Feds have provided $3.3 B in funding and they have a clause that says if you don’t complete the project CA has to pay them back. So we will build a TrainToNowhere. It will cease operations almost immediately. It will create more environmental havoc than it solves. It will replace ZERO cars.

It is like every single one of these Green New Deal “investments”…instead of creating value, they destroy, and then there is no money to solve real problems. These are policies rooted in fantasy…like a cult…that will destroy civilization thru waste…we have become Easter Island, carving statues to the climate change gods.

Saw this failure coming down the tracks when it was first announced. I wrote this four years ago…

The California High-Speed Rail Authority has estimated the project’s year-of-expenditure cost at $68.4 billion (2011 estimate).

      SFO to LAX Round-trip = $137

      The equivalent of 499,270,073 tickets

More than 6 million people fly between the Los Angeles basin and San Francisco Bay per year

For round trip, cut that figure in half, to 3 million.

So my back of the envelope figures show that for the cost of building the high speed rail, you could fly everyone for free for 166 years.

Of course projects like this can easily double in actual cost.

      But who is counting?”

I would like to see California be the Guinee Pig for Occasional Cortex’s deal. Frees shit for everyone would keep the illegals there, at least until reality hit.

  4. arn says:

Ocasio Cortex is just following the playbook of Agenda 21/30 and Club of Rome 1:1.
That’s why this laughing stock was chosen by the globalists and is now turned into the next Messiah put in place on purpose while officially they’ll claim “history”=First female&latino president&crazy(a progressives wet dream)
    Obama 2.0 -just less feminine.

Her plan trains for cars is just the next step to force rural population into mega cities as proposed by agenda 21.

But it is a little suprise that a guy from the same cabal -Newton(Nancy Pelosi is his aunt :)- is going the other direction.
Seems California is running out of money and they need it more to buy voters for 2020 with free shit(the backlash will be huge once the free shit party ends
and things can no longer be financed as millions have drained the system.
This must not happen before a dem is president)

It would be a comfort to think she is so bewildered and disconnected from reality that nobody could possibly take her seriously…if not for the counter examples provided by Macron and Trudeau.

‘Spain wants to close all seven of its nuclear plants between 2025 and 2035 as part of plans to generate all the country’s electricity from renewable sources by 2050. Energy Minister Teresa Ribera announced the move on Tuesday, just as the SOCIALIST government gears up to call an early national election in anticipation of losing a budget vote,
Overhauling the energy system, which generated 40 percent of its mainland electricity from renewable sources in 2018, will require investment of €235 billion ($266 billion) between 2021 and 2030, ‘

In a country that has to loan money to pay the retirement pensions and has 20% unemployed and where most salaries are between 1000 and 1500 euros bruto.

When the President says the MSM are the “Enemy of the People”, their open support of such blatant communism makes him look like a prophet.

  7. Gamecock says:

Seems dictatorial to me. I’m surprised Newsom has the authority to cancel it all on his own.

    • rah says:

It is dictorial. Democrats own CA lock stock and barrel.

    • dave1billion says:

But Newsome made the right call.

It would be an easy political call to boot this down the road for another few years. And the timing couldn’t be worse for the Green New Deal.

Newsome gets my respect for this.
