What has this got to do with climate science?

  2. arn says:

Colin Kapernicks is sympathising with a religion that nowadays enslaves many black people and his Lady belongs to the religion.

I wonder why neither Nike nor Kapernick feel “so offended”.

Probably the reason are the same double standards as in Global Warming.

The Betsy Ross house in Philadelphia should be burned down, but this will be a difficult task since it’s built of stone.

For those not familiar with the U.S. founding documents:

The U.S. “governing document” starts with three very important words, “We The People”. That in itself is remarkable, as it should say, “By order of the King/Emperor/High Priest, I hereby declare….” . It turns the usual approach on it’s head. It then goes through 8 articles and 27 amendments ***limiting*** government power. “Congress shall make no law which infringes the right to…. etc etc”.

The U.S. “founding document” asserts, “All Men are Created Equal”, which in the history of founding declarations/documents had never happened before to my knowledge. It then continues, “and are endowed by their Creator with… Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness”. It’s interesting that Thomas Jefferson couldn’t say, “are endowed by Nature and Nature’s God with Life, Liberty, etc” because “Nature” – i.e. Mother Earth – can’t endow anybody with *anything*. You can only be endowed with Life, Liberty, and Happiness by someone who *already possesses* those qualities/attributes.

The guarantee that “All Men are Created Equal” in the historical context (late 18th century) probably meant more to European Jews than it did to black slaves at the time – but it did bring about an end to black slavery – something that was accomplished in less than a century with the shedding of much blood and destruction of much property. In the last 50 years, the nation has spent $6 Trillion of national wealth trying to right the wrongs of slavery – and many (black) people took rocks and fire hoses in the face bringing about change. Has any other nation on Earth gone to this length, and been so introspective about their past?

  4. Gator says:

The US inherited slavery from Europe. Europe adopted the slave trade from Arabs, who learned it from Africans. Millions of Europeans were enslaved by Arabs and Africans.

We didn’t start the fire, but we sure as Hell ended it. So when do we get credit for that?

  6. Psalmon says:

This whole thing was a FakeNews propaganda ploy orchestrated by Nike. This is Nike marketing now. They are doing this internationally too, stretch some boundary, get a reaction, sit back and sell shoes. They never intended to market a Betsy Ross Shoe. They created this sneaker at the same time the coordinated w K’nick and TROLLED everyone.

They will get more media mentions out of this than paid advertising. They will sell more shoes worldwide out of this than before. This has been wildly successful. Expect more in 6-9 months.

They know everyone will get all sweaty and frustrated and repost the hell out of this and it will get covered at the same level as Trump stepping into North Korea. Stop falling for it.

    • rah says:

I’m not falling for anything. I can’t remember the last time I bought a pair of Nike shoes. Perhaps for running when I was still in the Army in the 80s’?

    • Gator says:

If Nike wants to market to those that hate America, good luck to them. That leaves them less than half of the US population, and third world sh!tholes. Not a great marketing strategy. If somebody gave me a pair of Nikes, I would burn them.

That photo of Obama makes me physically sick.

There are many African Americans who have embraced American ideals and the American promise. I have am friends and co-worker with many of them. They are living the dream. But like all thoughtful Americans, they know America is not perfect and we must all work through hard times. But at least in America there is belief that we can make things better. And there are a horde of believers massed at the US border with Mexico.

However, many African Americans have fallen under the spell of people like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and those in politics that treat African Americans like victims.

I have to believe that these charlatans know exactly what they are doing, which is trying to get more votes. I have to believe it because these people have read history, and so they must know that the governmental and economic systems in the US are the best that have ever existed for allowing people to pursue health and well-being.

Instead, these charlatans accentuate the negatives. By not showing his allegiance to the US, Obama placed himself firmly in the charlatan camp. Has he never considered where he would be if he had been born in, for instance, China, India, Bangladesh, etc?

He is, no doubt, very intelligent, but is he that naive? Unfortunately, I rather believe he is that ambitious and egotistical.
