Show Me The Money

I keep being accused of being paid by the Koch Brothers or big oil or big tobacco. I could use the money, but have been unable to obtain any. If anyone knows where I can get some skeptic money, please let me know.

I’m quite serious about this.

Try Breitbart. Alas you’ll still have to do some work. Why don’t you become an alarmist, write baseless articles, make up quotes, the works?

  2. Richard Mallett says:

There are two paths in life. There is the truth path and the money path. You have already made your choice.

  3. Me too–but there is a long line of us, stretching back maybe 20 years, maybe more, not to mention all those in past times who were denied “justice”. We’re not quite on the level of Giordano Bruno, after all, which reminds me of a small nugget of wisdom I gleaned in my youth: You knew the job was dangerous when you took it, Fred.

    • Here is a timely reminder for us: Soon after posting the above comment, I got an e-mail from “Warren Edward Buffett”, with subject, “A donation for you”. In today’s evil world, it doesn’t take long for the internet conmen to make a play for you. Fortunately, for an old hand like me, they’re pretty simple-minded, to think I would believe in coincidences like this.

  4. Jimmy Haigh. says:

Gore made his money first in big tobacco. Then he got quite a lot from big oil. Now he;s coining it from big green.

Bank guards do not make bank robber money.

  6. Donna K. Becker says:

Why not start a 501(c)(3) non-profit? That way contributions would be tax-deductible, you ‘d be CEO, and could pay yourself a salary.

  7. Gail Combs says:

I hate to tell you Steve but the Big Oil money is going to pay the Presstitutes and Climastrologists.

  8. Gail Combs says:

Actually Steve when you get those accusations laugh and tell them you are not a Presstitute and Climastrologist so you do not get the big Oil or Big Tobacco bucks like Al Gore and the CRU.

Then point them to Ged Davis IPCC lead author and Shell Oil VP and Robert Watson IPCC chair and World Bank employee and tell them they have been had by the Banksters and Mega-corporations.

  9. Andy DC says:

The evil oil companies are well rewarded by idiotic, but high paying alarmists schemes. They know where their bread is buttered and it is not by skeptics. They are not about to be left out of their huge piece of the Government funded pie.

  10. Try Roy Spencer, he offered to send Bob Tisdale “a few excess boxes of all this Exxon-Mobil money I use to start fires in the fireplace.” http://bobtisdale.wordpress.com/2014/01/03/im-retiring-from-full-time-climate-change-blogging/#comment-14513

  11. Bob Tisdale says:

    Speaking of Bob Tisdale…
Ever since I posted my open letter to the Koch Brothers, requesting funding…
    http://bobtisdale.wordpress.com/2013/10/15/open-letter-to-the-koch-brothers/
…I’ve had visitors from Koch Industries urls at least once per month–according to the stats software I have running in the background. It could be the guard at the front desk or it could be…

Still no big check…or even a little one.

  12. Steve Case says:

The money’s to be had by joining the dark side. The U.S. Global Change Research Program has spread around well over $40 Billion so far.

  13. To a progressive, facts are irrelevant and unnecessary. It is the seriousness of the charge that establishes guilt. Then if the target of the charge objects or tries to defend himself against the charge, it is proof that he is even more guilty. Alternatively, if the target is quite, it is a clear and totally persuasive admission of guilt. If you think this is a damned if you do and damned if you don’t situation, you must remember that guilt has already been established by issuing the serious charge. In fact, you are damned simply if a progressive feels you are guilty of something. He needn’t make the serious charge public nor even be able to express it coherently. That he feels it is enough. The rest of the progressives are inclined to agree even though they can’t express the actual charge coherently either.

Question: Just exactly what and where are the progressives progressing toward?

Answer: They don’t want to know but they want to get there in a hurry with the rest of us paying for the trip.

Are you really “quite serious about this” or are you “just having fun”?
I read your blog every day. I’m not sure when you sleep.
I am going to assume that perhaps you are serious, and I hope you are.
What is the most important subject you have been writing about lately? I think it is the data tampering. Do you believe what you are writing? Given the opportunity can you really prove it? Can you look at the subject from both sides and actually prove that the adjustments can only be explained as nefarious? If you can really accomplish that goal, you will be able to get the funding.

Be serious and go for it.

  16. WillR says:

I too am interested in funding. The cheques have not been forthcoming as the warmists have stated/promised.

  17. Dave N says:

If alarmists were serious about their claims (including other prominent skeptics, such as on WUWT), they’d be posting the evidence on their sites. Also, since they claim to be honest and fair, they’d be drawing up a comparison of how much funding alarmists receive from their sources, e.g. government etc.

I’d say the alarmists are full of something else, but for now I’ll just say hot air. Ironically, the Guardian recently challenged skeptics to “put up or shut up”, and have an international conference of their own where anyone is invited to speak. I guess it’s no surprise they’re totally ignoring that Heartland have had one for years, where alarmists consistently refuse invitations.

  18. Andy says:

You’re not been paid by anyone like that, you just have extreme views.

These claims seem to be from other people with extreme views from the opposite side of the fence.

    No big deal.

If you want to be extreme, one way or another, rather than let science sort it out, then you have to take the rough with the smooth.

At the end of the day this blog has zero impact on the greater scheme of things, same as extremist viewpoints on the other side.

    Andy

  19. Brian H says:

Foolish comment, Andy. Steve is widely cited. By people much smarter than you.
