Quite simply by the standards Administrations have been judged in the past, this current one is a near total failure. More people on government assistance than ever in this nations history by any measure. This middle class is shrinking not growing by any measure. The American dream harder to obtain and fewer obtaining it as we have become a nation of renters. US credit rating downgraded for the first time in history. Highest national debt by any measure in US history. US defense capability being degraded and our southern border unsecured by any reasonable measure . US prestige and influence in the world lower than I can remember it in my 59 years. The government overtly spying on it’s citizens using assets which by law were only to be used against foreign threats. Blatantly partisan use of government agencies to oppress and silence political opposition. The list goes on and on.

And there is more and more chatter in the financial papers that the current increases in the markets aren’t ‘real’, but rather are ‘bubbles’….very similar to tech stocks in the 90s.
The reason for the market & economy bubbles is the deregulation, [both] parties have joined in on this deregulation when they adopted green policies. Regulations put into place after the Great Depression that lead to 40+ years of prosperity and economic stability were removed.

The existence of every government is constantly creating non-existing problems without which it would have no power.
I know the right thing for any American president to do right now is get back to work. But from where I stand Obama is only likely to make things worse based on his track record so far. So question is should we all be thankful for golf.
Message for Ed Martin; if you were British I would commend you for your irony; first class. But I guess you believe this stuff. But here is a lesson for both Democrats and Republicans. Governments don’t create jobs. Corporates don’t create jobs. Individuals do. All governments should do is create the necessary environment for small business to flourish and grow. Big businesses if they can’t survive don’t deserve to live. This requires regulation that protects the individual from the corporate and government. Any government job is paid out of tax on the productive side of the economy. Corporates (and here I refer to conglomerates more so than the simple corporate entity) are destroying the economies of the West by skimming more and more of the cream off and spectacularly rewarding fewer and fewer to the detriment of the many. This is not Capitalism but corporatism.
One last comment. The spectacular growth in equity values has been built on equity inflation fuelled by government borrowing and is not based on the real growth in sales or market share of the economy. Who pays for all this? The poor tax payer of course and the lower your wage the greater the proportion of your wage is paid to support the equity prices that only a few benefit from. This is happening all over the western world, but is worst in the US under Obama. History I fear will be even more damming than my words.
