Kerry Blames Global Warming And Israel For Rise Of ISIS… | Weasel Zippers

John Kerry says that global warming at 400 PPM CO2 produced drought and ISIS.  This is a familiar theme, because in 1941 experts said that global warming at 310 PPM CO2 produced Hitler.

The chart below sums this up.

  1. Global warming heat at 310 PPM CO2, and global cooling cold at 330 PPM CO2, occur at the same temperature.
  2. The symptoms of global warming and global cooling are identical.
  3. Global warming used to be cold, but now global warming is hot.
  4. Brutality has nothing to do with the level of CO2 in the atmosphere.
  5. Climatologists are complete morons who understand absolutely nothing about science, history or logic.

Sort of correct. If the last Ice Age hadn’t thawed, we humans might have perished–most certainly wouldn’t have become the dominant species on the planet. In 1744 Pierre Martel published the theory of ice ages based on his research in the Alps. Scientific inquiry eventually set the end of the last Ice Age at approximately 11,000 years ago–a lack of precision unacceptable to today’s Global Warming mob. They’ll give you an exact day, date and hour GMT that stray carbon dioxide molecules created by human activities thawed the glaciers overnight, leading to the extinction of those cute wooly mammoths and saber-tooth tigers. And it happened in an instant!

Adolf Hitler was born within a few days of Charlie Chaplain in 1889–oh, that global warming! Created Charlie Chaplin, too! Is this proof of time travel? Did carbon atoms from a thousand years in our future travel back in time like tiny Terminators to warm Planet Earth?

Or have the elite been smoking too much dope?

    • Gail Combs says:

“….They’ll give you an exact day, date and hour GMT that stray carbon dioxide molecules created by human activities thawed the glaciers overnight, leading to the extinction of those cute wooly mammoths and saber-tooth tigers. And it happened in an instant!…..”
      …………
Careful with that claim. Dr Alley showed climate switch abruptly from its cold to its warm state in just one year as shown in the Greenland Ice Core, GISP2 No Human intervention needed.

…..The ice that had formed from falling snow during the transition from the last of the cold, dry, windy ice ages to the first of the warm, wet calms of the modern 10,000-year-long Holocene climate is 1,678 meters, just over a mile, down the GISP2 core…..

“You did not need to be a trained ice core observer to see this,’ recalled Alley. ‘Ken Taylor is sitting there with the ECM and he’s running along and his green line is going wee, wee, wee, wee – Boing! Weep! Woop! And then it stays down.’ Dust in the windy ice age atmosphere lowered the acidity of the core to a completely new state. ‘We’re just standing there and he just draws a picture of it,”‘Alley said.”

“Spontaneous celebration was followed by a sudden and unexpected quiet. ‘I think we cheered,’ recalled Alley, ‘and then we were all a little sobered. Because it was just so spectacular. It was what we’d been looking for, and there it was, and then we’re sitting there. Holy crap.'”

“In the GISP2 science trench, the tray holding the section of core rolled down the assembly line and then it was Alley’s turn at the ice. “It slides across in front of me and I’m trying to identify years: ‘That’s a year, that’s a year and that’s a year, and – woops, that one’s only half as thick.’ And it’s sitting there just looking at you. And there’s a huge change in the appearance of the ice, it goes from being clear to being not clear, having a lot of dust.”

This is also reported in “Abrupt Climate Change – Inevitable Surprises”, Committee on Abrupt Climate Change, National Research Council of the National Academy of Sciences ( 2002 ) Dr. Richard B. Alley chair.

In 1999 Alley was invited to testify about climate change by Vice President Al Gore. In 2002, the NAS (alley chair) published The above book

. From the opening paragraph in the executive summary:

“Recent scientific evidence shows that major and widespread climate changes have occurred with startling speed. For example, roughly half the north Atlantic warming since the last ice age was achieved in only a decade, and it was accompanied by significant climatic changes across most of the globe. Similar events, including local warmings as large as 16°C, occurred repeatedly during the slide into and climb out of the last ice age.”

      http://www.nap.edu/openbook.php?record_id=10136&page=1

So way back in 1999 Al Gore and the rest of the FRAUDSTERS were well aware that the climate can switch from glacial ice age cold to interstatial warm ” with startling speed” WITHOUT human SUVs!

  2. smamarver says:

I agree that brutality has nothing to do with the level of CO2 and that those ideas are at leas naive. In my oppinion (and not only mine) one thing is for sure: naval warfare during the two World Wars determined two major climate changes: a sustained warming which started at the end of World War I and lasted 20 years, and the next climatic shift which started during the winter 1939/40 and caused a four-decades global cooling. The extensive fighting at sea was a real threat for the normal course of the climate. I have read a thesis on http://www.1ocean-1climate.com“, in which the ocean’s main role in the climate change is explained.

    • gator69 says:

      Not this tripe again.

    • wizzum says:

Have you ever been to sea? If you had you would realize how insignificant the effects of man are on a body so large.

I’m almost convinced that this whole CAGW bullsh*t is King Canute syndrome. People have absolutely no idea just how insignificant humans are in the earths climate cycle.

      • leedsjon1 says:

Must make a note of this particularly unique form of complete and utter claptrap. I’ve got to hand it to you – this definitely scores 10/10 for originality. So, let me see if I have read and understood your point correctly…according to you, the current global concern with climate change is completely misplaced and totally unwarranted because the human race is such a tiny, insignificant species in the wider scheme of things that nothing it does could possibly influence the global climate cycle. Is this a fair assessment of your views?

You have forgotten to include in this neat little theory the fact that the human race, the most (in evolutionary terms) successful and adaptable organism on the planet, who has successfully managed to inhabit every single different environment and geographical region – from desert to polar ice cap – on the planet and has developed CO2 spilling industries which span entire continents. So much for an ‘insignificant’ species. What you have also forgotten to factor into your theory is some basic, high school level knowledge of simple physics which can best be expressed in the following simple formulae: –

        (1) CO2 leads, ultimately, to artificial rates of climate change if produced in sufficient quantities. (2) Mankind has, after just a few decades of unprecedented carbon/fossil fuel based industrialisation, produced more CO2 than can be produced naturally (ie by nature) in several millennia. (3) The result of this is that the ‘insignificant’ species of Man has yielded a major, extremely significant effect on every other environmental & climate process on the planet which will,if unchecked, produce massive damage to both human societies across the globe and the rest of the natural world.

        • ClimateChangeisHogwash says:

Very good argument leedsjon1. Almost convincing. What you left out of your simple physics calculation is that humans only cover 1/3 of the earth. the other 2/3 are oceans and water. So as good of argument as you have there, I highly doubt with all the rain etc. that CO2 will fill the air over the 2/3 of the planet covered by ocean.

Historically, depending upon which graph you look at, the worlds climate has changed over time. Remember the ice age? Well, now we’re getting warmer, in fact, just read an article that we have been cooling over the last decade…

          So, who do we believe?

      • smamarver says:

For winter 2015/16 NOAA forecasts temperatures well above mean. 1939 was also an El Niño year, but Europe suffered under the coldest winter for 100 years. http://oceansgovernclimate.com/el-nino-shaping-europes-winter/. It did not came from heaven, or fighting in Europe’s waters was the likely cause?

It is also amazing that crackpots in 1941 were spewing the same nonsense as they do now. Even then, they must have smelled money with climate fraud.

  5. Martin Smith says:

Steven, global warming has made the drought in Syria and Iraq bigger, longer and drier. It was one cause of the war in Syria. That war has assisted the nefarious efforts of ISIS. That is what Kerry, and everyone else who talks about this, is talking about. I’m not surprised you didn’t understand them.

    • Latitude says:

I still find it absolutely amazing that global warming can do all these things…without changing the temperature

    • lectrikdog says:

This is absolutely and unequivocally WRONG. You are not aware that we are still in an Ice-Age. Aridity and expansion of arid regions is one of the effects of an ice-age climate. The medeival, and Roman warm periods saw a more vibrant, wetter climate in the Levant, as evidenced by ancient Roman bridges that now span across mostly dry river beds and dry-wash stream beds.
Granted, we are only in an interglacial period, but still an ice-age, and very close to the end of the interglacial! Kerry, and everyone else who talks about climate change in to-a-warmer-one sense, have no idea what they are talking about. So, I am not surprised (based on many of your other comments on this site) that you think they know what they are talking about.
It is a colder climate that holds less moisture in the atmosphere, and a warmer one that has greater capacity to distribute more rainfall around the worlds climate zones. But you wouldn’t know this because you don’t know how to research, otherwise you would not have posted such an idiotic statement as, “Steven, global warming has made the drought in Syria and Iraq bigger, longer and drier. It was one cause of the war in Syria. etc.”
Really. Do some research! or just stfu.

      • Gail Combs says:

        lectrikdog,

I doubt that Martin Smith understands why a tea kettle boils given the DUMB comments he continues to make. Therefore the idea of MORE energy from the sun = MORE evaporation = MORE rainfall is completely beyond his ability to understand.

Therefore Martin would have ZERO understanding of a paper such as this:
Solar forcing of the Indian summer monsoon variability during the Ållerød period September 2013

        ABSTRACT
Rapid climatic shifts across the last glacial to Holocene transition are pervasive feature of the North Atlantic as well as low latitude proxy archives. Our decadal to centennial scale record of summer monsoon proxy Globigerina bulloides from rapidly accumulating sediments from Hole 723A, Arabian Sea shows two distinct intervals of weak summer monsoon wind coinciding with cold periods within Ållerød inerstadial of the North Atlantic named here as IACP-A1 and IACP-A2 and dated (within dating uncertainties) at 13.5 and 13.3 calibrated kilo years before the present (cal kyr BP), respectively. Spectral analysis of the Globigerina bulloides time series for the segment 13.6–13.1 kyr (Ållerød period) reveals a strong solar 208-year cycle also known as de Vries or Suess cycle, suggesting that the centennial scale variability in Indian summer monsoon winds during the Ållerød inerstadial was driven by changes in the solar irradiance through stratospheric-tropospheric interactions.

        Or this paper:
Simulation of the Indian monsoon and its variability during the last millennium

        Abstract.
The general circulation model ECHAM5 has been used to simulate the Indian monsoon and its variability during the Medieval Warm Period (MWP; 900–1100 AD), the Little Ice Age (LIA; 1515–1715 AD) and for recent climate (REC; 1800–2000 AD). The focus is on the analysis of external drivers and internal feedbacks leading to extreme rainfall events over India from interannual to multidecadal time scale. An evaluation of spatiotemporal monsoon patterns with present-day observation data is in agreement with other state-of-the-art monsoon modeling studies. The simulated monsoon intensity on multidecadal time scale is weakened (enhanced) in summer (winter) due to colder (warmer) SSTs in the Indian Ocean. Variations in solar insolation are the main drivers for these SST anomalies, verified by very strong temporal anticorrelations between Total Solar Irradiance and All-India-Monsoon-Rainfall in summer monsoon months. The external solar forcing is coupled and overlain by internal climate modes of the ocean (ENSO and IOD) with asynchronous intensities and lengths of periods.…..

Well no the problems in Syria have much more to do with rapid population growth

      Year Population in millions
      1950 3.5
      1970 6.3
      1990 12.1
      2010 23

Having population doubling every generation in a country with an arid climate, poorly performing economy and limited food supply is a recipe for disaster. The cities are full of disaffected young people with no jobs, over 20% of young people there could not find work.

    • Gail Combs says:

Actually the gradual cooling and return to desert conditions caused the brutal dictatorships.

      8,000-7,000 14C y.a. (about 9,000-8,000 ‘real’ years ago).
Forest extent in central and western Africa seems to have been at about its maximum around this time. For example the Oyo site in the east-central Sahara had it moistest climates and greatest vegetation cover between 9,000 and 6,000 14C y.a. (Ritchie 1994)….

It is almost beyond doubt that there was an expanded area of the central and west African rainforest areas at this time. Schwartz (1991) has found soil isotope evidence that areas now covered by savanna in central Africa were forest at this time, and a forest expansion south of the Equator is supported by the pollen evidence of Elenga et al. (1993), which shows that the present forest-savanna mosaics were more heavily forested. The generally northward movement of monsoon rains into the Sahara region can be expected to have resulted in a northward expansion of rainforest as well, and this does appear to be the case from the pollen record (Lézine & Vernaud-Grazzini 1994)…

6,500-5,000 14C y.a. Conditions across northern, central and east Africa became somewhat drier than before, but were still moister than today. For example, on the basis of pollen and charcoal, Neumann et al. (1995) suggest a mixture of semi-desert and denser scrub and grassland for the western Sahara, in areas that are now extremely arid. A similar picture is obtained by Ritchie (1994) on the basis of pollen evidence, and by Lario et al. (1997) for the Blue Nile on the basis of sedimentological and zoological indicators….

Hoezelmann et al. also suggest a very extensive area of wetlands south-east of Lake Mega-Chad, rivalling the lake itself in scale; they suggest that at 6,000 14C y.a., rainfall in the catchment area was around 300-350mm higher than today in order to sustain this high water level. Other extensive wetland areas are suggested for the interior of the eastern Arabian Peninsula….

After about 5,000 14C y.a., lake levels suggest that aridity in north Africa became more severe, culminating in an arid phase about 3,800 14C y.a., a part-way return to moist conditions 4,000-3,000 14C y.a., and a decline to aridity thereafter (Petit-Maire & Gua 1996).

Since 5,500 14C y.a., the climate across Africa seems to have been relatively similar to the present. An arid phase with some forest retreat is observed for around 2,600 14C y.a. in pollen records from Cameroon and some places in central Africa (Elenga et al. 1994, van Geel et al. 1996).

      Ancient Egypt
It is suggested that the gradual drying out of northern Africa followed by agriculture and then the need for irrigation canals may have been a driving force in going from hunter-gatherer to farming villages to empires. — “The Ancient Engineers” L. Sprague de Camp

For almost 30 centuries—from its unification around 3100 B.C. to its conquest by Alexander the Great in 332 B.C.—ancient Egypt was the preeminent civilization in the Mediterranean world….

      Predynastic Period (c. 5000-3100 B.C.)
Few written records or artifacts have been found from the Predynastic Period, which encompassed at least 2,000 years of gradual development of the Egyptian civilization…
Neolithic (late Stone Age) communities in northeastern Africa exchanged hunting for agriculture…

Around 3400 B.C., two separate kingdoms were established: the Red Land to the north, based in the Nile River Delta and extending along the Nile perhaps to Atfih; and the White Land in the south, stretching from Atfih to Gebel es-Silsila. A southern king, Scorpion, made the first attempts to conquer the northern kingdom around 3200 B.C. A century later, King Menes would subdue the north and unify the country, becoming the first king of the first dynasty.

Is it just possible that the war in Syria has something to do with a deteriorating standard of living, connected with the fact that the population increased, from 1990 to 2008, from 13 million to 21 million?

    • lucklucky says:

There is no evidence of deterioration of living conditions in Syria. People were fedup with system, Arab spring and all that spread like fire in most Arab world, well except Arabia itself. Then later external actors shiites vs sunni war etc intervened.

‘in 1941 experts said that global warming at 310 PPM CO2 produced Hitler.’

Indeed? And for supporting evidence to back up this outlandish claim, you reproduce an extract from a newspaper quoting the views of just 1 single scientist (who, as a professor of ‘experimental medicine’ would not seem to be eminently qualified to comment on any matter relating to climate science but perhaps that’s just nitpicking) ! You are probably correct, however, in looking back through history to see how modern trends – like quoting the views of an exceptionally small sample of scientists and misrepresenting them as the ‘majority’ of scientific opinion – may have their roots in events which happened several decades ago. And then, using an equally irrational method, you highlight vast arrays of statistical data – which will be largely meaningless to anyone not trained in advanced statistical analysis/a.k.a. much of the general public you attempt to hoodwink with such methods – as evidence for your infamous battle cries of ‘conspiracy’, ‘deception’, ‘lies’ etc. The only positive coming out of the Hitler article that I can detect is that it correctly identifies the principle, now being commented on by some of our present scientists and policy makers, that climate change may result in various levels of economic deprivation between different regions and nations leading to conflict.

I seem to remember something called the Arab Spring. This sort of started in Tunisia and spread to other Arab countries, including Syria. Were all these revolts caused by droughts caused by global warming? Wikipedia even goes as far as to say, “Some observers have drawn comparisons between the Arab Spring movements and the Revolutions of 1989 (also known as the “Autumn of Nations”) that swept through Eastern Europe and the Second World, in terms of their scale and significance.” Were the Revolutions in Eastern Europe also caused by droughts caused by global warming? Let’s go even further back. France 1968. Got to have been caused by droughts caused by global warming, n’est ce-pas? Funny though how the droughts of the 1980s which lead to famine in Ethiopia didn’t lead to any world-wide terrorism.

So it’s still only FIVE day forecasts for you.

The civil war and conflict in Syria happened because the oil ran out.
For a few decades they exported far more oil than the country used. That paid for the growing population and food when drought caused crop failure for local agriculture. It was a resource that provided the Syrian economy with most of its income.

Just before the civil war there was drought, displacing 10% of the population from the land to shanty towns in the cities. But this time there was no money from oil to subsidies food prices, or even to buy enough. The drought was widespread enough to have pushed up grain prices.

When a government is incapable of feeding the people they tend to rebel. Telling them to eat cake dosen’t work.
There was a drought before the French revolution too…

In about 1775, (my memory is not so good – so don’t bite my head off if the date is a bit off,): (thank you:) the cold weather in Versailles was enough to freeze the “Genever water” (gin) in its bottles, breaking the glass, inside the king’s palace. So, it was cold.Very. Within twenty years the king’s head came off, leading to the Napoleonic Wars. The ensuing carnage was carried out by the large scale discharge of humungous quantities of gunpowder, raising the air and surface twmperatures round every battlefield – and there were many of these. That put an end to the little Ice Age – which doubtless caused the Crimean and American civil wars, as well as the Great War of La Plata.

Right now I am feeling cold. Perhaps I should go out and start a fight. Or go home and have a hot rum toddy, and then get heated, and go out and start another fight.
