Real Climate Science

I’m thinking about heading to Australia in a few weeks, to help educate the clueless Brian Cox about climate and the scientific method. A lot of it will depend on being able to fund the trip, which will be expensive. What do you think?

On this date in 1934, the US experienced 100 degree weather from California to Virginia, and from Texas to Minnesota. South Dakota was 116 degrees, and much of the midwest was over 110 degrees.  Almost the entire country was over 90 degrees.

Weather this hot is incomprehensible to Americans now, who are convinced that a couple of 90 degree days is proof that the planet is overheating due to their SUV. Summer temperatures have plummeted in the US over the past 80 years, but you won’t hear this from government funded climate scientists.

Peter Demenocal and CBS News did a story this year on the Petermann Glacier in Greenland, and said that it was melting at an accelerating pace due to human activities.

The entire premise of this story is nonsense. The Petermann Glacier has been growing for the last three years, not melting at an accelerated rate.

Greenland’s surface gained 250,000,000,000 kilograms of ice this year. Almost exactly normal.

Melting on the Greenland ice sheet was normal or below normal on almost every day this summer.

This is standard operating procedure for climate fraudsters in academia and the press. They make claims which are the exact opposite of what is occurring.

Greenland shattered its record for July cold, hitting -30C on July 31st, yet government funded scientists and the press continue their idiotic, baseless alarmism.

The case against science is straightforward: much of the scientific literature, perhaps half, may simply be untrue. Afflicted by studies with small sample sizes, tiny effects, invalid exploratory analyses, and flagrant conflicts of interest, together with an obsession for pursuing fashionable trends of dubious importance, science has taken a turn towards darkness. As one participant put it, “poor methods get results”. The Academy of Medical Sciences, Medical Research Council, and Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council have now put their reputational weight behind an investigation into these questionable research practices. The apparent endemicity of bad research behaviour is alarming.

Half of the peer-reviewed science is fraudulent, and 97% of the remaining science is probably just complete crap.

Brian Cox smugly pointed to a NASA graph, and said that it must be accurate because it was made by the people who put men on the moon. He said that anyone who disagreed with him probably didn’t believe we ever put men on the moon.

In other words, Brian didn’t do any research and made a childish appeal to an authority he knows nothing about. The people at NASA who actually put men on the moon aren’t very happy with the small handful of NASA climate fraudsters whom Cox has embraced.  Had he done any research, Cox would have known that the only scientist to have walked on the moon – Harrison Schmitt – is a Harvard PhD, geologist, Former US Senator, and is also a prominent climate skeptic.

This letter was sent to NASA by the people who actually put the men on the moon. They aren’t at all happy with NASA’s junk climate science or their worthless temperature graphs like the one being pointed to by Brian Cox.

Brian Cox took a drawing which he knows nothing about, and attributed it to people who disagree with his conclusions about the graph. Then he ridiculed anyone who disagreed with his unsupportable, unresearched and childish conclusions. This is exactly how real science is not done. Brian should probably leave science to adults, who aren’t as lazy as himself, and are willing to actually do some research before opening their mouths.

In 1974, the National Center For Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado showed no net warming from 1870 to 1970, and a 0.5C cooling from 1940 to 1970.

Climatologists blamed every imaginable form of bad weather on the global cooling that was occurring.

In 1975, the National Academy of Sciences reported the same thing, and said global cooling is inevitable.

In 1989 Tom Karl, the Director of NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center, said Earth had cooled from 1921 to 1979.

In 1981, NASA reported about 0.2C warming from 1921 to 1979. This was at odds with NOAA, who said that same period was cooling.

But by 1999, NASA had changed the 1921 to 1979 cooling which Tom Karl reported into almost 0.3C warming, and had erased most of the 1940 to 1970 cooling.

By 2001, NASA had increased the fake 1921 to 1979 warming to more than 0.3C, had further erased the 1940 to 1970 cooling, and showed about 0.5C warming from 1880 to 1999.

NASA now shows 0.5C warming from 1921 to 1979, have completely erased the 1940 to 1970 cooling, and show 1.1C warming from 1880 to 1999. They more than doubled 1880 to 1999 warming since their 2001 graph.

The next image overlays the 2016 NASA graph on top of  Hansen’s 1981 NASA graph, at the same scale on both axes. It shows how NASA has cooled the past far outside their own blue error bars. This indicates that they do not understand their own data and are not doing science.

Summarizing : NASA has completely erased the post-1940 cooling. They turned Tom Karl’s 1921-1979 cooling into 0.5C warming, and have more than doubled 1880 to 1999 warming since their own 2001 temperature graph. Malfeasance like this in most professions would have serious consequences for the perpetrators.

The NASA temperature record is wildly unsupportable garbage. Unfortunate that clueless people like Steven Mosher and Brian Cox believe it is gospel truth.

The Guardian actually had a sensible headline yesterday. First time I have ever seen that.

1910 was one of the coldest years on record according to NASA, and glaciers were rapidly retreating all  over the world. The Jakobshavn Glacier in Greenland was retreating more than one foot per day, and the Arapahoe Glacier in Colorado was doomed.

During the budget fight in 2013, Obama said not raising the debt limit is irresponsible and unpatriotic, and now has borrowed more money than all other presidents combined.
