“THE heatwave in Greece has claimed its first British victim — a 46-year-old woman on holiday on the island of Kalimnos.

The fierce sunshine that has scorched much of the eastern Mediterranean has so far caused more than 600 deaths in Greece and shows no sign of easing. Temperatures in Athens have averaged 42C (107F) in the past week and the Greek government has declared a  state of emergency.”
