OTTAWA, ONTARIO — (Marketwired) — 11/12/13 — Today, Paul Calandra, Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister, issued the following statement on behalf of the Government of Canada on Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott’s introduction of legislation to repeal the carbon tax:
“Canada applauds the decision by Prime Minister Abbott to introduce legislation to repeal Australia’s carbon tax. The Australian Prime Minister’s decision will be noticed around the world and sends an important message.
“Our government knows that carbon taxes raise the price of everything, including gas, groceries, and electricity. Prime Minister Abbott has said that, in Australia, the repeal of the carbon tax will reduce the average household’s cost of living by (in Australian dollars) $550 a year, take $200 off household power bills and $70 off gas bills.
“Our government has reduced greenhouse gas emissions while protecting and creating Canadians jobs – greenhouse gas emissions are down since 2006, and we’ve created 1 million net new jobs since the recession – and we have done this without penalising Canadian families with a carbon tax.”
Proud to say that all my work is in Canada these days.

It’s hard to believe that the Canadians share a common border with the world’s biggest open air insane asylum.

Ivan, unfortunately we have more than our fair share of loons up here but the unions, commie lights and greens have been on their back foot since the governments almost turned the Canadian dollar into a peso in the 90’s nearly bankrupting the country and the silent majority decided balance budgets were more sustainable than the socialist utopia economy.

Huffpo would like Canadians to become alarmed once again.
But then again Huffpo is pretty much like the Guardian.

Maurice Strong, a Canadian, started up the World Meteorlogical Organization [WMO] and the UN IPCC, back in the 1980’s with the sole purpose of bringing down Capitalism.
And, also to control reporting of world climate announcements, making sure that they are all part of CAGW.
They are still at it;

What you failed to mention that Maurice Strong was a close associate and mentor of the Liberal Party of Canada under the leadership of Paul Martin and Jean Chretien.
Great, But I would like to see Canada take it one step farther. Reducing CO2 output is a foolish endeavor. As Roy Spencer writes, it is an elixir of life.
I find that many people are shocked to know that CO2 is necessary for plant growth, and that it is pumped into confined areas for that purpose, and that it becomes the core structure of almost all life on the planet including us. REALLY!!! That can’t be true.
Craig Idso, an expert on fertilization effects of elevated CO2, has done an extensive study on the increased benefit of additional CO2 from 1961 to 2011.
He estimates that there has been a 3.5 trillion dollar benefit to agricultural activity.
A very realistic 12 to 15 percent of every crop grown in the WORLD; due to the aerial fertilization of the earth.
It’s good to see Canada applauding Australia openly. I hope these two countries stepping forward will encourage others to join in. What started off as UN salami tactics (thin slices at a time) is now a hacking that comes thicker and more frequently, demanding people give up more and more – all while global warming has stopped 17 years ago and opposing facts and figures are becoming well known.
Of course, as the sham is being exposed for what it is, the agenda-pushers know they are running out of time and so are forcing it forward wile they can, hoping to lock it down and chopping into economies and civilization with ever more vigour.
Time to switch them off, I think. They done enough damage to the planet and to humanity. Time for them to go.
BC still has a “carbon” tax but that province is full of greenies. However, trudeau is in the wings wanting to be our next prime minister, and will put in a tax asap
Sure Canada has not destroyed themselves with a carbon tax, but any efforts to decrease emission of CO2 is still patently STUPID> All such meaningless efforts should be canceled and their economy would do even better. If they are referring to green job creation then they are running a Broken Window Economy which is also inherently STUPID.
