We speak to Wieslaw Maslowski about his prediction that by the summer of 2013, we will have completely lost ice cover in the Arctic. Dr. Maslowski says that the complete loss of summer ice may actually happen sooner. The concern we have at Beyond Zero Emissions is that without moving to near zero emissions and drawing down atmospheric carbon as soon as possible, this could cause the irreversible melt of Greenland leading to 5 metre sea level rises this century.

Hey Wieslaw Maslowski, you seem to think Greenland is flat with ice on it. It’s bowl-shaped and up to 800 meters deep with a 750km long canyon preserved under the ice for millions of years in it. Each year the snow doesn’t get much deeper on this large block of ice as it is at saturation for its elevation. Yes, you didn’t know all of this back in 2008, all the more reason to keep quiet until more research was done.
Wieslaw Maslowski have the temerity to think that this millions of years old structure will melt away in anyone’s lifetime. You sir are a fraud, deliberately spreading alarm.

The Arctic Volume Death Spiral is not what it was. 🙂 Just posted is the monthly update which continues to show that volume has been steadily increasing for a while and is now the same as at this time of year 2007.
