SMH Claims Responsibility For One Degree Of Warming

On course to suffer global warming of four degrees

Date July 9, 2011

There is only one way to frame the weekend’s carbon tax announcement: a start. Assume Australia hits its very soft target, cutting annual greenhouse gas emissions five per cent by 2020 – and the rest of the world does everything they’ve promised – we are on course to suffer global warming of 4 degrees or more by the end of the century.

We have already warmed the planet by 1 degree, relative to pre-industrial times, and are almost certainly experiencing an associated increase in costly, extreme weather events to say the least. In Australia, while it is impossible to be definitive about the cause of any single weather event, a list of prime suspects includes last decade’s crippling drought, Victoria’s Black Saturday bushfires of 2009 and this year’s devastating floods.

Not scary enough for some, but as our chief climate change adviser, Ross Garnaut, warned earlier this year, ”if we are seeing an intensification of weather events now, you ain’t seen nothing yet”.

Ross Garnaut is a promoter of climate propaganda. An economist, not a scientist, who could tell more fairy tales than Hans Christian Anderson. I’m glad he is a spectator now, because the economic damage he has promoted for the ALP/ Greens will take years if not decades to repair.

A mathematician, an accountant and an economist apply for the same job.

The interviewer calls in the mathematician and asks “What do two plus two equal?” The mathematician replies “Four.” The interviewer asks “Four, exactly?” The mathematician looks at the interviewer incredulously and says “Yes, four, exactly.”

Then the interviewer calls in the accountant and asks the same question “What do two plus two equal?” The accountant says “On average, four – give or take ten percent, but on average, four.”

Then the interviewer calls in the economist and poses the same question “What do two plus two equal?” The economist gets up, locks the door, closes the shade, sits down next to the interviewer and says, “What do you want it to equal”?

Then the interviewer calls in the climate scientist and asks the same question “What do two plus two equal?” The climate scientist says, “A 100 percent increase in the trend, we are all doomed; tax the world and pay me to study this more.”

“We have already warmed the planet by 1 degree, relative to pre-industrial times, ”

Actually that is a flat-out lie. Half of the 1C warming happened before the 1950’s, which is when the IPCC has proclaimed that anthro CO2 emissions started to impact temperatures.

We have already warmed the planet by 1 degree, relative to pre-industrial times …

Paddy Manning, you are as stupid a person as one can imagine, an insult to the hardcore rugged Aussie that braved the harsh deserts, snakes and spiders down under. You should shave your beard, wear a pink skirt and call yourself Patty.

Scapegoating human beings for that tiny warmup since the Little Ice Age is classic Socialist scapegoating ( except this time blacks and Jews aren’t being solely singled out ). He is really saying that we’re supposed to still be in the LIA with all its associated cold and starving and moderately advancing glaciers.

His opinion is indistinguishable from Steve Mosher and others, except that everytime I ask, Mosher avoids making such a clear statement as Patty for some reason.
