Hi Steve,
The axes labels look like they should be in opposite positions.
Year horizontal and Count/number of fatalities vertical.
Cheers

The most tornadoes that have ever been recorded during November was 12, in 1958. This is 150% of the previous record in one 48hour period.
It’s a good thing for your raw-number comparison that detection methods haven’t improved in the intervening 55 years. Otherwise one might be tempted to think that this 150% is a tad misleading.
Anecdotal, doesn’t take into account observation bias from higher population and advanced Doppler radar and satellite technology.

If you’ll note, every year the number of reported tornadoes seems extreme and high. Then, the normal assessment procedures are used to assess how many reports are of the same tornado, and the number goes down.
Off topic- The N. Atlantic tropical storm count has been inflated by one more, with the christening of Subtropical Storm Melissa. This storm has no pretenses of being a warm core system, and has no business being named.
Yes, but the number of one legged donkey tails killed is at a record high!
The Global Warming Gang would have you believe “greenhouse gases” are causing tornadoes when they have nothing to do with anything.
CO2 is a “trace gas” in air, insignificant by definition. It absorbs 1/7th as much IR, heat energy, from sunlight as water vapor which has 188 times as many molecules capturing 1200 times as much heat making 99.9% of all “global warming.” CO2 does only 0.1% of it. For this we should destroy our economy?
The Medieval Warming from 800 AD to 1300 AD Micheal Mann erased to make his “hockey stick” was several degrees warmer than anything “global warmers” fear. It was 500 years of great abundance for the world.
The Vostock Ice Core data analysis show CO2 increases follow temperature increases by 800 years 19 times in 450,000 years. That makes temperature change cause and CO2 change effect; not the other way around.
Carbon combustion generates 80% of our energy. Control and taxing of carbon would give the elected ruling class more power and money than anything since the Magna Carta of 1215 AD.

Some credit for this can go to better-built buildings and houses, and improved monitoring and communication and early-warning systems.
Certainly, and those improvements can be attributed to increased energy use.
