Beat me to it. Fire arms keep people nice and polite.
The “Wild West” of America was not wild it was an anti-gun ad campaign by Hollywood.

Notice the steep increase in the 1905/1906 time period?
There seems to be all sorts of explanations for that, but the most prevalent…it’s ‘bad’ data that needs to be adjusted.
I may not panic when I see a car but when I drive I’m of the mindset that the others cars might just be the one to try and take me out and am ready to take evasive maneuvers, if necessary.

Excellent.
It explains why we used to have feudalism. Big Bubba and his thugs forcibly making slaves/serfs of everyone else. It explains why Big Bubba finally lost out in the seventeen hundreds thanks to sharp shooters.
Most of European history is one Big Bubba replacing another:
This rate is higher than the threshold for ‘major combat’ among soldiers engaged in a contemporary war. It demonstrates the intense violent rivalry for domination among historical European political elites.’
We should all remember that fact because Big Bubba and his pals STILL want world wide serfdom. Human nature hasn’t changed just the methods used. So now the Big Bubbas have agreed to cooperate in the matter of subjugating the Great Unwashed and dividing up the spoils.
The Westphalian, sacrosanct principle of sovereignty refers to independent autonomous nations. The EU shows how this the principle of sovereignty can be completely eroded and a country conquered without firing a shot and with out the citizens awareness.
…on the question of efficiency, Europe scores in my view rather highly. Thanks to the primacy of EU law over national law. Thanks to the work of the European Court of Justice in ensuring enforcement and respect for the rule of law. And thanks to a clear articulation between the Commission, the Parliament, and the European Court of Justice.
That makes it clear that the states within the EU are just that Vassal States and not independent nations.
