A Christmas Present For Gavin Schmidt

According to Gavin Schmidt at NASA, global warming didn’t begin until the mid-1970s. His graph below shows that the 1970’s were barely warmer than 1880, with only minor fluctuations in temperature between 1880 and 1970.

I annotated Gavin’s fake graph to show how ridiculous it is. According to Gavin, ice melts when it is cold, and freezes up when it is warm.

Antarctic ice was disappearing from 1856 to 1906, during a time when Gavin says the world was cooling.

Swiss glaciers were in full retreat by 1930. Gavin says 1930 was cooler than 1880.

By 1939, the glaciers of Greenland and Norway were facing “catastrophic collapse.” Gavin says 1939 was barely warmer than 1880.

By 1952, the glaciers of Alaska and Norway lost half their mass. Gavin says 1952 was barely warmer than 1880.

By 1963, Norwegian glaciers were growing for the first time in 200 years. Gavin says 1963 was warmer than when Norwegian glaciers were collapsing in 1952.

By 1970, the US and Soviet Union were worried about ominously increasing Arctic ice and a new ice age. Gavin says 1970 was much warmer than 1906 when Antarctic ice was rapidly retreating.

In 1979, global cooling was indisputable. That was right when Gavin started his hockey stick of warming.

There was never any doubt that Earth warmed rapidly from 1880 to 1940, and then cooled sharply from 1945 to 1975. But that didn’t suit the political agenda of Barack Obama and his employees at NASA, so they simply changed the data.
