Greenland’s Other Famous Glacier Growing Too

Yesterday I showed how the Washington Post was lying about Greenland’s Petermann Glacier, which is growing rapidly.

Today. let’s look how CNN and the Washington Post are lying about Greenland’s other famous glacier – the Jakobshavn glacier. They recruited a Hollywood actor who is married to someone from Greenland as their expert.

Scientists just uncovered some troubling news about Greenland’s most enormous glacier – The Washington Post

Just like the Petermann Glacier, the Jakobshavn Glacier has grown over the past five years.

Note the position of the terminus (on the right side) has moved closer to the sea since 2012. The glacier is growing.

The Jakobshavn Glacier wasn’t always growing though. From 1851 to 1902 the glacier retreated about ten miles.

The people behind the global warming scam will say anything to push their big lie on the public.

How is it that CNN and the Washington Post haven’t been sued for this false reporting? Really getting tired of it.

    • Gail Combs says:

Because of the Supreme Court ruling that says the MSM can lie all they want, smear politicians and other ‘famous people’ but to sue you must PROVE MALICE on the part of the MSM.

Proving Fault: Actual Malice and Negligence

Unlike other countries that hold a publisher liable for every defamatory statement regardless of what steps he or she took prior to publication, under U.S. law a plaintiff must prove that the defendant was at fault when she published the defamatory statement. In other words, the plaintiff must prove that the publisher failed to do something she was required to do. Depending on the circumstances, the plaintiff will either need to prove that the defendant acted negligently, if the plaintiff is a private figure, or with actual malice, if the plaintiff is a public figure or official. …

The actual Supreme Court case was New York Times Co. v. Sullivan

Held: A State cannot, under the First and Fourteenth Amendments, award damages to a public official for defamatory falsehood relating to his official conduct unless he proves “actual malice” — that the statement was made with knowledge of its falsity or with reckless disregard of whether it was true or false. Pp. 265-292….

      (c) Factual error, content defamatory of official reputation, or both, are insufficient to warrant an award of damages for false statements unless “actual malice” — knowledge that statements are false or in reckless disregard of the truth — is alleged and proved. Pp. 279-283…..

In other words the legal bar is so high that unless you can actually capture the reporter on film SAYING he is targeting someone and is going to make up lies to do so, you might as well forget suing.

On the other hand Den!ers and Deplorables can lose their jobs, get their property trashed, get beat-up and even be killed if they come out of the closet.

My Cold Anger towards the Progressives is progressively getting hotter. ?

The same supreme court that declared corporations human beings in front of court with the same rights?

I guess the owners of the military industrial complex, the banks, the corporations and MSM always get what they want.
Their corporations usually do not pay taxes while you have too,
they gave themselved an eternal get out of jail card for their reports no matter how fake they are while attacking your free speech((so that you can no longer expose them))
They sell weapons for billions and wage wars while you are supopposed not to own weapons.

      • RAH says:

When Palin sued the NYT recently their excuse was that the “reporter” that wrote the story hadn’t read the paper and so didn’t know that the targeting ploy had been debunked. The judge dismissed the case. Some SOB defames me or mine seriously causing harm I won’t rely on the courts.

    • Adamant de-Nye-er says:

They can’t be sued for stories like this. If there was a question of libel, they’d pay it off, and keep on as they were before.

  3. Anon says:

It looks like there is backpedaling movement afoot:

The world has warmed more slowly than had been predicted by computer models, which were “on the hot side” and overstated the impact of emissions on average temperature, research has found.

New forecasts suggest that the world has a better chance than claimed of meeting the goal set by the Paris Agreement on climate change of limiting warming to 1.5C above pre-industrial levels.

He stated during the climate summit in Paris in December 2015: “All the evidence from the past 15 years leads me to conclude that actually delivering 1.5C is simply incompatible with democracy.”

Speaking to The Times, he said: “When the facts change, I change my mind”, as Keynes said.

“Pacific islands are less doomed than we thought,” he said.

*It is too bad Tony Heller had to waste years of his life and suffer all the subsequent derision over all of this. It is not unlike a guy who was unlawfully convicted and had to spend 30 years of his life locked up in prison.

Pathetic… and all they say is oops.

    • Anon says:

Lest anyone think this was an innocent mistake:

How Some Key IPCC Researchers View Their Science:

The late Stephen Schneider, who authored The Genesis Strategy, a 1976 book warning that global cooling risks posed a threat to humanity, later changed that view 180 degrees, serving as a lead author for important parts of three sequential IPCC reports. In a quotation published in Discover, he said: “On the one hand, as scientists we are ethically bound to the scientific method, on the other hand, we are not just scientists, but human beings as well. And like most people, we’d like to see the world a better place, which in this context translates into our working to reduce the risk of potentially disastrous climatic change. To do that, we need to get some broad-based support, to capture the public’s imagination. That, of course, entails getting loads of media coverage. So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements, and make little mention of the doubts we might have. Each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective and being honest.”

      • richard verney says:

Schneider was, of course, one of the lead authors on the NASA/GISS 1971 paper (Science Volume 173) titled: Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide and Aerosols: Effects of Large Increases on Global Climate, in which NASA/GISS assessed that an 8 fold increase in CO2 would lead to less than 2 degC of warming.

Thus, back in 1971 NASA/GISS assessed Climate Sensitivity to CO2 at less than 0.7degC per doubling.

Our knowledge and understanding of the radiative properties of CO2 have not changed since 1971, and as the warmists claim, the science is based on settled physics going back more than a century, so there is no good explanation as to why that assessment should have been fundamentally flawed, and why a different and higher sensitivity should now attach.

    • neal s says:

But in that same article …

“The study, published in the prestigious journal Nature Geoscience, makes clear that rapid reductions in emissions will still be required but suggests that the world has more time to make the necessary changes.”

They are STILL trying to sell that dead horse. They are just trying to be more believable by acknowledging inconvenient lack of anything else they have predicted from having come to pass. Simply, when the old lies no longer work, they try out new lies. This is just the new lies.

      • Arn says:

When your old fairytale is not selling,
        create a new one
and admitt a bit,as you have to.

The endgoal will of course still remain the same and the savers will still pretend to save us-noe no longer from the ultimate but the junior armageddon

      • gator69 says:

Correct neal, as Gail will attest, there is more than one way to skin a horse. And if we have learned anything from the self loathing eco-fascists who wish only to help us help them, it is that recycling is key to saving our planet as well as their “science”. They know that if you cannot sell a dead horse, there are always other options…

        -Buy a heavier whip
        -Change riders
        -Threaten the horse with termination
-Appoint a committee to study the horse
-Arrange to visit other sites to see how they ride dead horses
-Appoint a project team to re-animate the dead horse
-Create training to increase the rider’s load share
-Change the form to read: “This horse is not dead.”
-Hire outside contractors to ride the dead horse
-Harness several dead horses together for increased speed
-Increase funding to help the horses performance
-Do a time management study to see if lighter riders would improve productivity
-Purchase an after-market product to make dead horses run faster
-Declare that a dead horse has lower overhead and therefore performs better
-Form a quality focus group to find profitable uses for dead horses
-Rewrite the performance requirements for horses
-Hire a consulting firm to perform a strategic study of best practices in continuous improvement in utilizing dead horses
-Promote the dead horse as a new paradigm

The options are endless when reality is malleable.

        • Gail Combs says:

“The options are endless when reality is malleable.”

Just when you thought the US government swamp couldn’t be any sleazier….
Sundance reports a rather complicated time line of who did what to whom and who paid for it. . Now tell me again why it is the TRUMP Campaign, the ONLY INNOCENT involved, who is under investigation???
CNN Report: U.S. Government Wiretapped Former Trump Campaign Manager Paul Manafort

These are the high low points of the rather long timeline.
“….in congressional testimony from July 27th of this year, William Browder, CEO of Hermitage Capital, testified about the “Foreign Agents Registration Act” (FARA).
During Mr. Browder’s testimony the origin of the Fusion GPS ‘Russian Dossier’ was discussed.  Browder stated the Russian government actually paid Fusion GPS to create the Steele propaganda dossier on candidate Donald Trump. That same dossier was used by the FBI in June/July 2016 to generate the FISA surveillance warrants against the Trump campaign…..
Bear with me on this… So the James Comey FBI paid a British informant, former MI6 operative Christopher Steele, for content within the Steele Dossier,
which was originally financed by the Jeb Bush campaign and Never Trumpers,
and later passed on to Hillary Clinton allies via continued investigative funding by Fusion GPS. Christopher Steele is the same guy the DNC contracted to research the “DNC hacking” (which many think was actually DNC leaking).

Sometime in July 2016 the James Comey FBI was denied a FISA warrant by the court (rarely done) and the general appearance is that Comey was interested in surveillance of the Trump campaign. Note Comey has never denied this allegation. However, in 2016 a FISA warrant to wiretap Paul Manafort is now the basis of this latest CNN story…..

According to the CNN report the wiretapping and surveillance of Manafort started sometime in 2014 and then was discontinued after nothing of criminal value or significance was gained.  [NOTE: FISA warrants must be updated in 90 day increments; continued surveillance involving U.S. persons must be justified….]
….Yes, that actually means FBI Director James Comey was using propaganda commissioned by Russia, funded in part by the FBI, to attack Trump, as the framework to launch his FBI investigation into candidate Donald Trump and Russian collusion.….”

(Don’t forget that wierdo meeting with DJ Trump Jr. and the Russian lawyer on n June 9, 2016, after Trump’s RNC nomination. So why was Veselnitskaya hanging out with Obama officials just days after her meeting with Donald Trump Jr.? Seems it was another set up designed to perpetuate the fake narrative that Trump was colluding with the Russians.
Is this a government for and by the people or a frecking SOAP OPERA!

Yeah, yeah, after decades of CAGW, I know, it is a frecking Soap Opera.

          My hopes…

    • David A says:

? So the changed 2 degrees to 1.5?
2 degrees was the point that the IPCC said harms would definitively out weigh benefits.

This info of course was never
mentioned on the IPCC summary for policy makers.

      • spren says:

Regardless if they push to hold warming to 1.5 or 2 degrees, isn’t it ridiculous that this is a supposed increase from the coldest period of this interglacial? They are saying that they want to remain closer to a time that was brutally cold for humanity and all other life on the planet and halt the progress towards temperatures t hat provide optimum conditions for life. These people are completely out of their minds.

        • David A says:

I agree. It is just the brazen arrogance; to get caught by real observations, then simply lower the bar, yet claim the disasters will come anyway if…

Ten years from now, we must contain warming to .25 degrees or catastrophe will be unavoidable.
Five years later, better analysis shows we only warmed .25 degrees since pre industrial times, we must hold warming
          to .1 degrees, or else…
          These people are parody.

  4. TimA says:

“Just from 2000 to 2011, the ice loss through Jakobshavn alone caused the global sea level to rise by a millimeter.”….that is incredibly alarming news!!…..What an absolute crock! If anyone believes this nonsense,I pity their poor offspring!

    • Arn says:

well ,in a hundred years that would be an inch.OMG.
      That’s a tsunami and lifethreatening.

I guess sea level have never been as constant and low as they are now-we really need to change this ,with a co2 tax.

  5. Arn says:

    Guys who produce fictional stuff(actors)
    are promoting fictional stuff(AGW)

    what a surprise.

BTW-Greenland would benefit so much from real warming.
No reason to moan about it sadly it’s not happening(or just a little, and only a fraction of this little is co2 related)

  6. Mark Fife says:

The 1850 to 1902 retreat is pretty interesting stuff. So what caused that? Probably something about the Civil War. Coal powered steam vessels, iron clads maybe. Maybe a few million men marching around, charging, retreating, and breathing hard.

    • JMS Martins says:

Smoke from musket black gunpowder, maybe…

    • Gator says:

      So what caused that?

      The end of the LIA.

      • Mark Fife says:

Listen Gator. You need to quit injecting actual history and science into this. Most intolerant and triggering!

Speaking of which (if this works!) this is a graph I made of the Central English Temperature with Adelaide West Terrace and it’s replacement Kent in Australia (CET left hand scale, AWT right hand scale) over laid, both on top of a proxy study by Mann among others. I have common time points marked so you can see how they correspond. It is an opportunity to compare proxy data to actual measured data. Which do you think is more accurate? The CET which shows around 1730 to be very close to the 2000 temperatures? Or the proxies which show about 1° difference?

        • Mark Fife says:

Yeah, picture did not go. Sorry about that. What you see is the proxies give a fair approximation of the actual measured temperatures in terms of rise and fall, but they don’t catch everything. Which means they miss the highs and lows, especially those of short duration. Which makes sense if you think about it. If you are digging through strata looking at layer thickness or counting isotopes over thousands of years missing the true highs and lows because they are just a small slice after all is perfectly understandable.

  7. John Niclasen says:

A good illustration of history repeating would be to find newspaper articles for a 100 years ago about eugenics, where celebrities spoke out for the flawed theory.

It must be possible to find several such articles from the past.

  8. frederik wisse says:

There is a now a new fly in the ointment . After catching NASA , NOAA , BOM ,UEA and
others on false manipulated data always in line with the CAGW-narrative the well-reputated Dutch KNMI is starting to withhold embarrasing data proving the momentarily cooling of the earth from the public . A new video by Adapt 2030 on YouTube proves the poor manipulations by these so-called experts nowadays.
Previously this was a well-respected institute with one of the worlds best datasets .since 1901 . Now they are daily propagating the CO2-carbon theory on Dutch television ,strive to make Holland carbonfree . These green idiots now control KNMI and no lie is worse enough , when it supports the mantra . Holland is sinking very deep , but it is not water whats causing it .

  9. Rob says:

Damn, it’s a shame Jaime Lannister is one of “those” people yet I guess I can’t be surprised given 97% of hollywood seems to be followers of that religion/scam.

What blows my mind isn’t that these people keep pushing this crap but that there are some people who can see stuff like what Tony does with the arctic ice and yet STILL believe in that garbage.

On an unrelated note, bummer there isn’t a post about the average U.S. temp on this day compared to previous years.

  10. Andy DC says:

Glaciers grow and then pieces break off (calve). It’s catastrophic! It’s unprecedented!

No doubt proof positive that we are all going to die! All due to evil Trump pulling out of the Paris Climate Accords. He doesn’t even care about the kind of world that cute little Barron inherits! How can he be so mean and heartless?

  11. An Inquirer says:

I am sorry. I do not understand the pictures of the Jakobshavn Glacier. If the blue on the left is the ocean, then the Jakobshavn Glacier is flowing from right to left, and it seems that the glacier is extending more into the blue 2017 than 2012. But that situation does not make sense given the lines of retreat since 1851. And I do not understand the area outlined in both 2012 ad 2017. So I do not understand the orientation of the pictures.

  12. Rah says:
