Greenland’s Petermann Glacier Growing Ten Feet Per Day

Greenland’s most famous glacier, the Petermann Glacier, has grown more than 5km over the past five years.

Fake news sources and fake scientists claim the exact opposite, because they are paid to lie about the climate.

In Greenland, a once doubtful scientist witnesses climate change’s troubling toll | The Washington Post

You would have to be a complete moron to believe anything the Washington Post writes about climate, particularly when the source of their information is a government scientist.

The Post represents the political opinions of Jeff Bezos.

  2. Andy says:

    5 km, wow.
The Antarctic is down 1.3 million square km since this day in 2012 …..

Nobody mentions the Antarctic on here now, apart from me of course. Sob sob.

    Andy

    • sunsettommy says:

Andy, the reason why hardly anyone talk about it,is because warmists made fools of themselves down there.

    • AndyG55 says:

      “Sob sob”

Don’t cry, little andy, your mummy will dry your bed-sheets for you.

    • Gator says:

      Andy hates good news.

      • Colorado Wellington says:

He is a little weirdo, isn’t he? Most of us don’t think re-glaciation is such a good news but these freeze and ice cultists swear by it.

You would think he’d like it …

    • AndyG55 says:

You do know that there has been an upward trend in peak Antarctic sea ice since 1979, don’t you.

Or are you cherry-picking one year when known weather events have affected it.?

Who were you accusing of cherry-picking, little bed-wetting hypocrite. !!

    • Mr GrimNasty says:

“The Antarctic is down 1.3 million square km since this day in 2012 …..”

And more than 2 million square km above 1966, so well above average then.

As for not mentioning Antarctica, that was the CAGW crowd as the ice increased year on year, until the latter exception, when you suddenly remembered it.

There was yet another published paper confirming it was just down to random weather and nothing to do with climate change out recently.

We’ll wait and see if you want to discuss Antarctica over the next few years as it increases again, along with the Arctic!

Andy shows his ignorance AGAIN! Antarctica has gained SMB. Even NASA says so.
      https://phys.org/news/2015-10-mass-gains-antarctic-ice-sheet.html

There is no Antarctic ocean so he can’t be talking about the ocean surrounding the Antarctic CONTINENT because that ocean is the SOUTHERN OCEAN.

Now go back to school boy and learn the basics.

      • blaz says:

that was 2015…things have since changed.

        • RAH says:

Really? Why just in January this year the warmist scientists were claiming that it was the Montreal Protocol that saved the Ozone over the south pole which have allowed the SMB of Antarctica to remain healthy.
          http://journals.ametsoc.org/doi/full/10.1175/JCLI-D-17-0027.1

What has changed is the sea ice around the Antarctica which had declined. And the Western Ice Shelf which has a declining SMB. However there is good emerging evidence that volcanic activity is causing that. Meanwhile the SMB on the remainder of the continent has done just fine.

      • ridgiedidge says:

It’s only been called the Southern Ocean since 2000.

It was the Antarctic Ocean when I went to school.

    • tonyheller says:

A few weeks ago, Andy was complaining that no one talks about the Arctic. What a clown.

    • Chris Norman says:

The antarctic ice mass is growing and has been for several years. Here is just one of many links n this subject.

  3. Andy DC says:

The fact of the matter is that Antarctica recently set records for the most ice. Then the ice became so extensive that parts started breaking off (it is called calving). Only an idiot alarmist would try to spin those totally routine events into some kind of huge catastrophe. It is simply in their DNA for alarmists to cry wolf about any routine natural event. Because they know all too well that no crisis equals no funding.

  4. D says:

Great time lapse showing the obvious growth. I would be curious for input regarding the temp/press data Andreas has posted on his Icy Seas website… https://icyseas.org/

Regardless, the bottom line is the Petermann glacier has grown over the past five years. I’m certain the slight temp increases his data show at 3 specific depths is naturally occurring. They’ve only acquired 2 years (many gaps) of data, so any claims of concern are unfounded, imo, with such a small data set.

  5. Advocatus Diaboli says:

Maybe the Petermann Glacier could be renamed the Michaelmann Glacier…

  6. spren says:

I responded to a comment yesterday in the WSJ about Trump’s not pulling out of the Paris Accord. A commenter claimed that temperatures had increased between 2 and 6 degrees since the start of the industrial revolution, and posted a link to NOAA ostensibly proving it. He also claimed that 16 out of the last 17 years were the warmest in the historical record.

I expressed my astonishment at his claim of warming and the nonsense about the warmest year after year. I stated that the claimed warming each year was reported to the thousandth of a degree, adding that we have no instruments capable of measuring changes to that level of precision. I also stated that without the adjustments of the raw data we have seen little to no warming over the last century.

I received a couple of responses telling me how easy it was to debunk my denialist nonsense just by reading some science, as if that is a set document that can be read. I also had others approving of my comment. Two hours later the WSJ had deleted my comment. Apparently, you can’t even trust any of Murdoch’s media any longer as well.

  7. And the melting of ice in Greenland cited by the hysterics is from geothermal activity, not increases in temperature.

  8. Kingbum says:

2012 huh? Seems like 2012 was an all-around warm year for the Arctic it had also made the satellite era record low in ice extent that year. Fast forward 5 years and the Arctic ice minimum according to IJIS is 1.3 million Sq km more than the 2012 low. Given that Northern Greenland is at 81N and ice has increased by 30% or so off it’s lows why wouldn’t Petermann be expanding?
