Success Of The Paris Accords

Based on current trends, it now appears the Arctic will never be ice free. The planet is saved.

    What’s so good about ice?

I don’t really mind a bit of ice at the poles, so long as it doesn’t spread, but I wouldn’t mind if there wasn’t any either.

  2. Griff says:

all those predictions had a ‘could’ in them and were based on extrapolation of melt rate continuing at highest rate then observed.

given that the volume is still clearly decreasing yes, we will see an ice free summer arctic ocean soon – certainly by 2030.

this year is still melting, so we’ll have to wait a week or so for fianl total… a large area of dispersed ice is keeping extent high.

but look at this – ice thickness at end August for 2017, 2016, 2012

    Notice anything?

    • AndyG55 says:

Yep, I notice that there is still ONE HECK OF A LOT OF SEA ICE up there.

FAR more than there has been for 90-95% of the last 10,000 years.,

Certainly nothing to wet YOUR bed about !!

Did you know that there is 14% more 70% sea ice cover than last year , griff?

If you didn’t .. WHY are you so ignorant???

If you did..WHY are you still wetting your bed???

      • GW Smith says:

Andy– I’m on your side, but this bed-wetting insult is obnoxious and getting very old. You’re making her look wiser. Please be civil.

    • AndyG55 says:

Griff.. what SHOULD the approximate Arctic sea ice extent be in September.

      Give extent and scientific reasoning.

This should either be a total avoidance of the answer..

      Or totally HILARIOUS.

      Come of griff.

answer the question…. I DARE you..

    • arn says:

Yes Griff, and if my Grandma had a penis she “could” have been my Grandpa.

But that”s not a problem with “could”-
“Could” could mean anything and is just a rhetoric trick to excuse
      every false prediction.
You can predict any shit with “could”(mixed with good intentions) and when it did not happen you have a cheap excuse for the
When you come around with a apocalyptic scenario,a global armageddon,
which you then try to use this to create a global tax
and waste billions on it and have a 97% consensus(at least official)
you MUST deliver far better prediction.

For example: you “could” have been a better person,a person of integrity if you would use
just 1/3 of your critical thinking skills towards your climate
      doom prophets.
But you don’t as you know this threatens your world view.

One “could” think that a person believing in an ice free arctic
by 2012 and Manhattan flooded by 2018 should now STFU because
he lost every credibility as his predictions completely missed the target-instead they pretend everything fine.
Considering that this planets atmosphere had several times more co2
for millions and millions of years without ever becoming a lifeless superhot desert,
one should think that all these things+failures+data tampering+combined should raise awareness
among educated people to rethink their point of view, especially when we consider that we talk about just 0.01% co2 and co2 is a very week climate gas while most parts of our planet are convered with superstrong climate gas h2o and millions&millions of tons are released into our atmosphere each and every -but this doesn’t happen.(as every dumb excuse will be acceppted forever)

You are not supposed to post here, because none of your beloved predictions has come true.
What the hell are you doing here.
First you should stalk your beloved prophets of doom for their failures-then wait until their predictions have become true
then you have gained the right(in terms of integrity) to come back and to post here.

BTW-tommorow flowers “could” grow out of uranus.
      Or the next day,or the day after-but i’m 100% sure it will happen in 5 days,or 5 years,or 50 years,but it will happen.

    • tonyheller says:

The saddest thing for climate alarmists will be the large increase in multi-year ice in three weeks.

      • RAH says:

They will just deny it. They are the true deniers. They deny the reality of earths climate day in and day out. If they didn’t, they would have no scam.

      • Colorado Wellington says:

The global warming cult is sickening. They believe that warming is horrible and it will kill us all but they are giddy and prance around every time they think more ice has disappeared or it got warmer somewhere. It’s even more pathological how much they enjoy real destructive weather events that hurt people as long as they can fabricate some connection to warming.

I would like it if the planet got warmer and greener. The cultists have a long record of idiotic and false predictions but I find no satisfaction in saying “I told you so” to them when it gets cold. It’s just like watching American leftists destroying the country in alliance with our foreign enemies and finding no joy in telling people I knew they would.

    • gator69 says:

      Notice anything?

      Where do I start?

First, I noticed a long time ago that all alarmist scientific papers always use weasel words like “could”, “may”, “might”, “possibly” and “maybe” when discussing their doomer predictions. Yet when these same alarmists and their useful idiots work to starve poor brown people in the public domain, they always forget all about the “coulds” and jump straight to “will”.

Second, where outside of religion do you find such faithful followers of failed prophets other than doomerland?

Third, Ms Griff hates poor brown people.

    • Cam says:

Yesterday, you were all about the volume since that is what you said was important but ignored my response to you so here it is again:
You want volume…Here’s DMI ice thickness/volume from yesterday and the same day in 2012. This year is almost 1500 km3 greater than then. It’s also almost the exact same volume as the same date in 2003.

    • RAH says:

Reality is much more powerful than any equivocating weasel words. We deal in reality, you and those you listen to and believe deal in the other.

    • Scott Scarborough says:

Yes, I notice that there are little arrows drawn all around on the ice in the 2017 map. You know, don’t you, that those little arrows aren’t really there!

    • Latitude says:

“were based on extrapolation of melt rate”

So you’re saying their “science” consists of nothing more that extending a straight line……

    • sunsettommy says:

      Griff,

I notice that you keep ignoring evidence of the many failed prediction of sea ice demise, over the last 10 + years.

      You are pathetic.

    • Gerald Machnee says:

      Griff.
      Re “notice anything”.
Yes, you are a Liar like the rest of the predictors.
Look above – Hansen said in 2008, the Arctic WILL be ice free in 5 to 10 years.
      Not “could”
So, are you going to respond?
And you have not replied to my question about how temperature change due to CO2 is measured.
So, are you going to respond or continue your BS?

    • rw says:

I have another prediction (I just made one on an earlier thread). At some point Griff is going to resemble the Black Knight in Monty Pyton and the Holy Grail. It’s even possible that the point has been passed, but I don’t want to be premature about these things.

His situation will be particularly excruciating if ideas about steady state conditions in the atmosphere being explainable without a greenhouse effect continue their development. (I’m thinking of a recent post on WUWT by the work of the 2 atmospheric physicists on this topic as well as one of Kenneth Richard’s collections of articles on the subject.) In this case, Griff may have the interesting experience of finding himself on a tightrope without a net underneath.

    • John Ostrander says:

All climate predictions, all of them, were based on computer models that were based on flawed data. The data was not flawed when it was collected, but it was “rounded off” by NOAA, NASA, and others prior to being released for reference.

Raw data is stored, and was recently reviewed ab initio revealing the disturbing bias of the official weather reporting bureaus. Was published a couple months ago.

      https://thsresearch.files.wordpress.com/2017/05/ef-gast-data-research-report-062717.pdf

While SNOPES (lol) claims this is fake and because Breitbart reported its publication it is definitely fake because it was not “peer reviewed” only shows that snopes is just another website without a purpose. Peer review is for those seeking publication in research journals, a report is something done for submission to an agency upon request or for something like a grant application. It is peer reviewed, but not published, much like a patent.

It checks out. The three authors have been working on climate science for many years, they are published experts in the field, and disagree with the political slant given “man made global climate change” of which no solid evidence has ever been recorded or published, only random observations and extrapolations

  3. RAH says:

The point being that many “experts” and some idiot politicians like Gore and John Kerry have claimed that the Arctic would be virtually ice free by now or in the very near future and that is not even close to the reality.

But Griff and others like her, in their self delusion, continue to insist on the validity of their “scientific” prognostications and defend those that have turned out to be so wrong, like Wadhams and his ilk.

Despite increasing levels of atmospheric CO2. The sea ice is still there. The SMB of the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets are growing. There has been no increase in rate of sea level rise globally. There has been no persistent hot spot in the lower troposphere. There are absolutely no indications that the run away positive forceings that they claimed would occur are happening or are about to occur. The Polar bears are doing just fine. The earth is greening and global crop yields year after year have increased. According to satellite and radiosonde data atmospheric temperatures are no where near where the IPCC climate model ensembles projected they would be now despite two strong El Ninos in the intervening period. Neither ACE nor actual direct measurements have indicated an increase in either the incidence or intensity of Tropical Cyclones. Over the last 10 years the US has had far more below average than above average tornado seasons. None of the droughts they predicted to be permanent in the US have been. Lake Meade is filling and there will be no shortage of water in 2018 as per the USBR and in fact the majority of reservoir levels in Nevada are high or 90% above low levels.
The snow still falls and the children of S. England know what it is, and even as I write this at the end of the summer for the NH there are still ski slopes open in the Sierras here in the states that have been open all summer. The Great Lake water levels are up again and their waters cooler than average for this time of year.

The list of falsified prognostications from alarmists goes on and on and on. And yet the scam continues.

  4. Lasse says:

Less ice more cooling of a warm earth!
More ice less need of cooling.
    Temperature regulating- as those hurricanes.

  5. See the Michigan paper, unhighlighted, where a politician says “But Americans are not buying it.” The Dems frothed to tax, regulate, nationalize, subsidize and send men with guns to coerce all electric generation. This is copied from the Communist and Green platforms. The Republicans pledged to protect plants that generate electricity without coercion at gunpoint. This they copied from the 2016 Libertarian party platform. So brushing aside the personalities that so fascinate small minds, pro-energy Libertarians and Republicans jointly garnered 53% of the POPULAR vote. Even if Libertarians were 50% and G.O. Prohibitionists but 3%, the election outcome remains: lying looters lose.

  6. Anon says:

Meanwhile, back in the “real” world, for every power plant that is eliminated in the United States, China creates 10 more:

One Chinese Coal Power Company Employs 4x More Workers Than The Entire US Coal Industry

A fascinating comparison emerges when putting just this one company in the context of the entire US coal industry: with an estimated 326,000 staff, the combined entity will have a workforce that is four times bigger than the entire U.S. coal-fired power industry in 2016 (at roughly 77,000).

The merged entity will account for 13% of both China’s power-generating and coal-mining capacity, according to analysts at Citigroup Inc. including Jack Shang, who pegs the new company’s totals at 221 gigawatts and about 500 million tons a year, respectively.

“The ultimate goal is to form bigger energy companies that can hedge against market risks between coal and power,” Yu said. “Or they can sell their nuclear technology or their coal-power technology to emerging markets in Asia. That’s what the government wants to promote.”
