Thirty Years Of Spectacular Climate Science Incompetence

Global warming hysteria got its big start thirty years ago, when NASA’s James Hansen testified before Congress on a hot day in June. Government scientists predicted increasing drought in the corn belt, cotton growing in Siberia, oranges growing in British Columbia, and a huge increase in the number of 100 degree days in Washington, Dallas, Memphis and Chicago.

Let’s look how those experts did. Droughts in the corn belt have become much less common over the past century, and 1988 was the last drought they experienced.

The graphs below are from the closest USHCN stations to DC, Dallas, Memphis and Chicago. All show a sharp decline in the number of 100 degree days.

And Siberia is experiencing record cold, not growing cotton.

The scientists were 100% backwards with all of their 1988 predictions. And Hansen sabotaged the air conditioner at the Congressional hearing to scare politicians into going along with his scam.

we called the Weather Bureau and found out what historically was the hottest day of the summer. Well, it was June 6 or June 9 or whatever it was, so we scheduled the hearing that day, and bingo: It was the hottest day on record in Washington, or close to it. It was stiflingly hot that summer. [At] the same time you had this drought all across the country, so the linkage between the Hansen hearing and the drought became very intense.

… What we did it was went in the night before and opened all the windows, I will admit, right? So that the air conditioning wasn’t working inside the room and so when the, when the hearing occurred there was not only bliss, which is television cameras in double figures, but it was really hot. …  So Hansen’s giving this testimony, you’ve got these television cameras back there heating up the room, and the air conditioning in the room didn’t appear to work. So it was sort of a perfect collection of events that happened that day, with the wonderful Jim Hansen, who was wiping his brow at the witness table and giving this remarkable testimony.

Global warming is the biggest scam in history, and the people behind it are crooks, not scientists.

And nobody but bloggers hardly ever call them out on this. In fact the media goes back to the same incompetents time and again for their “expert” opinions.

One doesn’t have to look at a bit of data to understand that the signals indicating a coming cooling period are prominent. They just have to know the history of the claims and actions of Gavin Schmidt and James Hanson to understand that such evidence must be overwhelming if those two are trying to get ahead of the curve to mitigate as much as possible what will be a disaster for the AGW crowd.

They have always claimed that the warming cannot possibly be a result of natural variation but now they claim that natural variation is powerful enough to cause a “hiatus” in warming. It really is fun to watch alarmists twist themselves into knots trying to explain why what they have said would happen, isn’t.

If a mega eruption should occur somewhere in the tropics during the coming cooling we will really see them do a 180. And that is not a far fetched scenario because it sure seems like volcanism along The Ring of Fire has been increasing.

  2. Steelman says:

It’s more than obvious that warming and cooling periods is cyclical, at about 40 years. Don’t have to look further than our recent history, say, from 1900. How can the MSM not point out the obvious?
They just have to go to their archives. Warming 1900-1940, cooling 1940-1980, warming 1980, and now it’s coolig again. Winters seems more and more like the winters in the 60s and 70s.

    Good morning,

is another example of climate change charlatans contradicting themselves. The article is insightful and focuses on a very relevant matter.

The article’s point is: State and local governments suing energy companies for “damages caused by climate change” DENIED in bond offerings government has the ability to predict climate change and its consequences, OR omitted climate change entirely from prospectuses. On the other hand, government asserts energy companies KNEW or should have known fossil fuels cause harmful climate change.

I don’t think they predicted record cold temperatures in Bangladesh either.

Junk science can work both ways.

Ban on Fracking is Causing California’s Earthquakes

Keeping with the spirit of climate alarmist fake news, I’ve decided to apply their best practices to the recent earthquakes in California. Best Practice #1: Start with a conclusion that supports your political agenda and work backward. I want to expose the Sophistry used by the Climate Alarmists. Best Practice #2: Identify a completely natural phenomenon, … Continue reading

Yeah, the Wirth comment on that hearing eloquently says who these people are. Liars. And there is such glee in his recollection of how he put his thumb on the scale. But thats OK, to lie in the service of the greater good. But then it turns out that the greater good is just the pursuit of power. Which is fine when the power is in the hands of you and your twelve best friends.

And youre convinced that because you do so much that its OK if you get some special treatment. Like youre the Vanguard of some Revolution or something; youre smarter, feel things more deeply than the plebes who fill out the ranks behind you. So its OK if you fly private, live on the beach, drive a Maybach, You dont actually recycle but you do have people who do it for you. You dont actually conserve energy but you do contribute to a foundation that pays somebody 25 cents to plant a tree in some sh*t-hole. Maybe you even sit on the board.

But all you really are is a liar in pursuit of power and the perfect post-modern xer or xim.

OT, And so it starts… talk about incompetence. !

Gees, you close down a power station capable of producing 1600MW, and then wonder why you run out of electricity.

  8. Phil. says:

The numbers reported in the Ukiah Journal seem rather strange since they don’t match the published numbers. E.g. the Washington data claimed an increase from 1 event over 100ºF increasing to 12, whereas the paper says 6+/-4 events over 95ºF increasing to 9 under scenario B by 2010s, 26 by 2030s (A) and 49 (A). Similar results for Memphis.

  9. Roger Gibbs says:

OK one thing that is settled; we have been scammed, big time. We sane people don’t need to keep proving it to each other. WE KNOW WE HAVE BEEN HAD. The next question I have is how do we get the rank and file (sheeple) to see they have been conned. Currently the media is peddling the warmist crap to the plebes, so really the question is, how do we (the enlightened ones) swing our media to tell the truth, or at least show some middle ground instead of preaching the warmist philosophy.

  10. Eha says:

Hello Tony! I honestly don’t know, why you trust any news-agency yet. Such cold, like now, for Irkutsk isn’t something new, just 17 years ago was even worse. Also so much didn’t die and … 70 people lost they legs/hands? It’s fake. There is cold, yes, but nothing so dramatic like ABC news claim. So far i could find just 2 news about 2 people died so far in Irkutsk.
