I am tempted to make a comment about Gov Brown’s long history of stupid statements and stupid ideas. But let’s be honest, he knows he is using this cyclical drought to push his own agenda. That agenda is more taxes, more regultaions and more government control of everything. Personally I would prefer a leader who wanted to throw a virgin into the volcano to appease the gods, it would be less harmfull to us all (well all except the virgin of course).
Back in the ’80s, I met Gov. Brown in Century City and asked him whether he’d ever read anything by Ayn Rand.
“That Fascist?!” was his response. I replied that his was a common misconception.
Like most Progressives, he merely repeats what he’s heard, not what he knows.

Last time I flew over California I could see the remains of huge lakes like the Salton Sea.. which only filled up when the Colorado river was diverted… all others were totally dried up or a muddy puddle surrounded by hundreds of miles of desert…. no trees, no, no… nothing…
Only along the coast, where Humans artificially bring in water… do we see green… CA is naturally very dry..
California has been in a desert, been in a drought for a very, very long time now… this shouldn’t be news to anyone..
A long-lasting mega-drought would be a devastating disaster. It means all the idiots in that state will likely pick up and move east to bother decent folk and inflict more Jerry Browns on them.
Perhaps they’ll get in wagons and go to Missouri over the Donner Pass.
Brown ought to take a trip through off-highway California. It is trailers parked in the middle of streets, crack economies supported by welfare checks, and squalor.
This is the quality of life that Jerry Brown’s rampant elimination of industry brought to California.
If you travel up the California side of the Colorado River from Yuma, the poverty and squalor is appalling. You are dead right about the middle of the state. I had often wondered where those who didn’t make enough money to pay for apartment rentals of $1500 to $3500 a month lived until I started traveling through the middle of the state. People are living in old shacks and trailers all over the place.
Liberal Democrats do not see the connection between shutting industry and filth and squalor.
California’s wealth was not built upon movie stars, or gold, or wine. It was built upon the unique ability to refine and supply fuel from a crude oil that none other could process. The capability is gone
Hmm . . . think how boring life would be without cataclysms. Here’s th easy way kiddies, the aggregate human intelligence is probably immense (“they’re more than aware of what they’re goin thru”). Poll the intelligence of the masses by throwing perpetual cheapo contests and soliciting suggestions from the populace. You can’t make a human do anything but it will work it’s ass off for a few bucks and/or a pat on the head (perhaps with a litl recognition thrown in). Face it we’re stuck with ourselves, we hafta run what we brung (current genetic intelligence). It’ll be hard to erase humans from the planet (our past genetics), the true issue is the misery index.

I believe it is the eighth wonder of the solar system! It is just like the hallelieuia mountains in the documentary, Avatar! The sea there must contain all the globally warmed sea water on the planet and it is rising up!!
