Since he made this forecast, Antarctic sea ice has increased to record levels.

They probably don’t know much about current temperatures there, much less past ones.

Hi Steven. Generally, the Southern Hemisphere is a longer term integrator of change. It is amazing that the Antarctic sea ice doesn’t ‘know’ about the recent unprecedented warming! The lower heat capacity of Northern land masses gives the Northern Hemisphere greater short term leverage upon measured temperatures (as we see in the seasonal cycle). P. L. Vaughan.
From the same web site as you have cited, the global sea ice area is also a very interesting anomaly.
I feel that as ice returns to the Arctic the Antarctic abundance, if it doesn’t change, will pose a threat of albedo driven changes.
Dr Jim Hays is just about the first “scientist” I’m prepared to pay attention to. Cooling in the next 1000 years? Excellent. No need for a carbon tax at all.

Antarctic sea ice graph is looking hockey stickish. Perhaps the beginnings of a goalies stick?
