Thousands of Houses Destroyed—Hundreds of People Killed,
The States of Georgia, Alabama, North and South Carolina and Louisiana have been visited by one of the most destructive storms ever seen in the South. Thousands of houses were destroyed in an instant, hundreds of persons lost their lives, and many more were injured. – The tornado Ras particularly se-vere in Georgia and Alabama. An Atlanta (Ga.) dispatch says: One million dollars’ worth of property, 5,000 houses, and 300 to 400 lives are the forfeit paid to the terrible storm.

The press is running with their “longest tornado in history, which was caused by a one part per ten thousand increase in CO2 over the past century” story.  They are also saying December tornados are rare.

The NOAA tornado database shows 1,612 December tornadoes since 1950 which averages out to almost one tornado per December day. Strong to violent tornadoes were much more common in December prior to 1980.

The second longest known tornado in the US occurred on September 20, 1845. The track was 275 miles long – which was 56 miles longer than last week’s tornado.

The longest known tornado occurred on May 26, 1917 – covering 293 miles of Illinois and Indiana. That was seventy miles longer than this weekend’s tornado.

The World Meteorological Organization says the Arctic Circle set a  record temperature of 100F this summer which would have been impossible without global warming.

The Washington Post says the planet’s fasting warming places are experiencing an extended period of historic cold.
