“The United States and the Soviet Union are mounting large-scale investigations to determine why the Arctic climate is becoming more frigid, why parts of the Arctic sea ice have recently become ominously thicker and whether the extent of that ice cover contributes to the onset of ice ages.”
Five years ago, the New York Times said 10.1 million acres burned in the US during 2015, and it was the most on record.

If they bothered to read their own newspaper, they would know that more than twice as much acreage burned in 1937.
I pointed this out five years ago, and they silently changed the text without notice or errata.
The 10.1 million acres that burned in the United States last year were the most since before 1960, and the top five years for acres burned since then were in the past decade.
Besides the deceit of their silent edit, they failed to mention that burn acreage was higher in the vast majority of years before 1960. Factual information would have rendered their story meaningless.

If they had any interest in the truth, they would have reported that burn acreage averaged more than ten times higher when CO2 was at pre-industrial levels.
The New York Times used to occasionally print accurate information, like this article from 1992. But those days are long gone.

Prior to data tampering by NOAA, afternoon temperatures this month so far have been the coldest of the last century. But NOAA adds 2.5 degrees to recent temperatures relative to 1936, and turns a cooling trend into a warming trend.
Almost 60% of the temperature data being used by NOAA in their final adjusted data set is fake – i.e. generated by a computer model with no underlying data.
In 1929 and 1931, people in Australia, Texas, Tennessee, Mississippi and Oklahoma were starving because of droughts, and people were freezing to death in Oklahoma as well.
