Baked Alaska
Joe Romm was the top climate expert in Bill Clinton’s White House. This week he told us Alaska is burning up, and sea ice is at a record low with temperatures of -30C in the Arctic.
Alaska crushes record for hottest December as Arctic sea ice hits record low – ThinkProgress
One year ago this week, Alaska was so cold even long time residents wanted to leave. As Romm said, “the canary in the coal mine.”
It’s so cold in Alaska that even Alaskans are complaining
Alaska is celebrating the anniversary of last year’s record cold, with another blast of record cold.

Meanwhile, people in Siberia are experiencing the coldest weather ever seen outside of Antarctica.
For climate experts – jet stream ridges are climate, jet stream dips are weather, and ice melts at -30C. And all of this is due to an increase of 0.0001 mole fraction CO2 over the last 100 years.

Fifty Years Of Top Climate Science
James Hansen is remembered as the father of global warming because of his 1988 testimony before Congress – but in 1968 Tiny Tim laid out all of the principles of modern climate science. It is unfair that he doesn’t get credit for it, particularly the part about scaring children.
The ice caps are melting,
All the world is drowning
The ice caps are melting,
The tide is rushing in.
All the world is drowning,
To wash away the sin.

Glaciers Disappearing During NASA’s Coldest Years On record
One of the most popular claims made by climate alarmists is that retreating glaciers are evidence of global warming. This claim is utter nonsense – glaciers have been retreating for 20,000 years (when Chicago was under a mile of ice) and glaciers were rapidly retreating during NASA’s official coldest years on record.

2006 – A Key Year For My Understanding Of Climate
January 2006 was very warm in the US. I remember sitting outside in shorts and a t-shirt and thinking that global warming was the cause. That summer I drove through Sacramento, California at 115 degrees. Global warming was looking bad! But a few weeks later the weather turned cold and wet, and Fort Collins had their largest snowstorm on record during Christmas Week that year.
Since 2006, January temperatures in the US have plummeted, and the frequency of cold nights has skyrocketed. The century trend for January temperatures in the US is downwards.
I first heard about global warming in 1980 while working at Los Alamos National Labs. It turned out that the warming from 1979 to 2006 was not a linear trend, rather it was one arm of a cycle. In 2008 I wrote my first climate article in The Register, showing how temperature data was being altered by government agencies.
