Drogba and Cech both made some big plays, but the guy who was consistently in control of the ball (and the matches) was Ashley Cole. Chelsea was 80% defense, and he was the man behind it.
And that brilliant pass to Torres in Barcelona……

The match wasn’t that exciting, extra time a touch more so, but the penalty shoot out had me behind the sofa and watching through my fingers, Dr Who style. Ten times my blood pressure soared to extreme heights, until the instant of Drogba’s final kick. All together now!
“In München steht ein Hofbräuhaus, oans, zwoa, g’suffa!”
How will Chelsea move on next season?
I reckon they need
1) To decide once and for all if Torres is to be their Number One striker. If not, sell him diring the summer and replace him.
2) Sell Malouda and Kalou, If they want to still play 4-3-3, they need attacking wingers, that they have missed since selling Robben, Duff and Wright Phillips. If they go for 4-4-2, they need a second striker.
3) Make Cahill and Luiz the first choice defence. Terry, unfortunately, is too old and injured now.
4) Give some of the youngsters like Romeu a run in the team, even just off the bench.
If they can get a 30 goal striker and someone like Ribery, they will challenge for the title again.
Abramovich wanted his team to play exciting football. From the way he was trying to kick every ball while sat in the stands I think he had all the excitement he needed. Come on you Blues!
