More crap science threatens life on Earth. What could possibly go wrong? The onset of ice ages is modeled as a cusp catastrophe; a tipping point is reached by which glaciation is driven by cumulative increase in albedo as more of the surface is covered by reflective ice. Admittedly, that might be crap theory itself (it was used to ‘explain’ the ‘snowball Earth’). The bottom line is that understanding of the atmosphere is nothing like adequate enough to predict the consequences of human megalomania.
The bottom line is that nothing of this stuff has to do with atmosphere and climate.
The main driver(on a non-conspiratorial personal level) is the Siamese Twin of psychopathy – narcissism.
People so fascinated by their own intellect and existence that they can only be born in a super-special era of history.
So special that they had the luck to live during a (negative) 5 sigma event(*30 in this case) – and that they can even save us.

This is an unbelievably moronic statement. The properties of water alone determine albedo and thus energy balance on earth.
Water is it, and it should be clear that it is it. I think we graduated too many PhDs and they each think that they have to do something clever (well they have to to get the PhD, whether it makes sense of not). The fact is, that only a small portion of the population is very good at thinking, and we shouldn’t spoof the rest into believing that they are good at it.
Now my tirade. Why is anyone who worked on Gain of Function still alive? Fauci and others funded and created a virus that infected the entire human population and allegedly killed millions of people. We heard stories that it cross infected other species. These stories seem to have disappeared. Why?Even if it killed no one, this is still outrageous. Elon has a great foreard thinking mind, but on this one he may have jumped a 1000 years ahead of the technolongy and understanding needed to do it right. I suggest that he focus on the things his is developing now and not on what might have a 1 out of 100,000 years chance of happening, given that we have not idea of which of those possible events might happen and that to prepare for any one of them might take the entire GNP for, at our level of development, 100 years to prepare for that one possibility of many.
As far as global climate change, it is happening, and as I see it, independently of our fossil fuel use. It appears from the graph of 500 million years of Earth geohistory, that the “Natureal” balance point for global average temperature, regardless of the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere is about 73 f. This seems to be the modal temperture which the Earth keeps going back to, regardless of the level of CO2 in the atmosphere. Our current average is about 58-60 f, so a lot more heating can be anticipated, and it is good for life, according to the biological record. Much smarter to adapt to nature rather than try to change nature. This is where God says, “Elon, I made you big, but don’t start thinking that you are bigger than I am. “
