Further south, water has been steadily released from Elephant Butte Reservoir into the Rio Grande for the past few months, but the reservoir is down to 1% of capacity and they stopped releasing water today. The Reservoir is located at Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.

No drought in South Central Minnesota. FYI we’ve had no change in long-term temperature, but precipitation up about three or four percent over 100 years. . I posted here several times and I said two or three weeks ago we’re looking at record high crop yields again. but mother nature is fickle. we went almost two weeks with no rain. ouch!! who knows why but all of a sudden we’ve got rain again and the monthly average rainfall because of today and tonight is exactly average. so once again I’m predicting… not record high crop yields …but close. bottom line I think the climate crisis has been postponed for at least one more year, at least in South Central Minnesota. PS… for the doom and gloomers.. have a look at what a cob of corn looked like 3,000 years ago and what it looks like now. what the pilgrims ate in the 1600s looks nothing like what we eat now. I was at a relatives farm this past day and what you see in the field is stunning compared to decades ago. there is no climate crisis.
The last few years we have just had this high pressure system dominate NM. Funnels all the monsoon moisture to AZ, sends all the winter storms to the NW. It never changes, I thought there might be a different pattern because of the “super El nino” but the high pressure maintains.
