The constant barrage of misinformation coming from NOAA and elsewhere about the weather, seems to have lead a significant portion of the population to believe that all weather events are unprecedented – and due to something called “climate change.”
No one actually knows what climate change is, but it is something very bad and it is the fault of Republicans. For example, the beautiful weather last winter in the Eastern US was extreme and something we desperately need to correct, if only the Republican deniers would get out of the way.
I doubt that any of them have ever thought through how they would identify what they are trying to fix, how they would fix it, or how they would later determine if they had fixed it.
The bottom line is that the climate change religion is nothing more than a hate group – people who are looking to vent their anger. They would have been burning witches had they lived a few hundred years ago.

I doubt it’s a hate group and it doesn’t serve much purpose to speculate about motivations. I do know the claims have shifted over the last decade from plausible to just plain stupid.

Some have such fantasizes. Those who made the video of children being blown up because they didn’t believe in catastrophic global warming, or David Appeal who dreams of gulags and Thought Crime. But just as many are well meaning simple minded soccer mums. There is a lot of variety put there.

2012/13 YTD Australia has had 5 cyclones with only two making landfall. Big rain from Oswald, but not as big as Yasi, and not as powerful as Steve, Bobby, Tracy and any number of other cyclones from the last 40 years.
