When asked over at RC how the continent can be doing both at the same time it was explained by the authors of the paper that the continent had warmed since 1950 but has since cooled for the last 30 years. This way their paper was not actually inconsistent with the rest of the scientific literature… The only remaining mystery being how a finding like that manages to make the cover of Nature in support of global warming catastrophism…
Complete BS. The lower map showing warming is is supposed to represent 1981-2007.
It’s interesting that the NASA website makes this claim, but from the best of my recollection the published peer reviewed paper did not make that claim. In fact, they had to bring in some warming that occurred in the 1950’s to end up with a long term warming trend. (And only just. It was a small fraction of 1C.)
However, this claims seems to be coming now from a different direction. The website reads: (based on) “data from Joey Comiso, GSFC.”
However, under his list of publications on the NASA website:

and a cursory Google scholar search, I cannot establish if this claim has been peer reviewed. It could be true that if 1981 was a very cold year, and 2007 a warm year (relatively speaking), you could find a trend. An obvious question a sceptic would then ask would be if that trend held up for, say, 1982 to 2008 or something like that.
Perhaps they should have checked with UAH first, who confirm the Antarctic has been cooling in the last 30 yrs.
And of course, if GISS were honest, they would admit they had no had no data for the Antarctic prior to 1980.

The southern ocean (IO, AO, PO) convergence is what it is and the circulation/transport is not understood, which reminds me of all the missing inputs to the many models used over the years.
Determining how the full Monty of electromagnetic waveforms interact and the effects they have on gases, plasmas and matter cannot be achieved, otherwise we’d know what stimulus/stimuli are present (EMF environment) that kick off cancerous growths and exactly how the largest organ in the human body (over the many somatotype sub-classes) either block, absorb and react to bundled EMF. (IE: being chubby may have significant positive attributes, especially in heavy EMF environments as an infant and child.)
We have no test & measurement techniques of measuring what waveforms exist in a cubed meter of free air much less the 5 spheres that encompass us, nor can we measure the full Monty of EMF as it exists (& changes) and interacts throughout our magnetosphere and the inter-planetary magnetic field.
Understanding the changing conditions that lead to the many cyclical climactic events is more than tough, many are unattainable.
The science is settled, my ass:)

CO2 is heating the Earth by causing the planet to radiate less to space – radiating less to space is a sure sign of cooling.
In climate-fairyland all things are possible provided sufficient funding can be found to support clueless people attending never ending clueless and pointless meetings.
Only a small number of these people could be more gainfully employed collecting litter – the rest don’t have the talent.

I deeply suspicious of any diagram that shows weird temperature features at the end of the Ross, Filchner-Ronne and Amery ice shelves. (applies to both figures above)
Something’s not quite right there. It could be that the water coming out from under the ice shelves is hotter/colder than the shelves themselves. Colder is is understandable. Hotter? Volcanism?
