When he was trying to get elected, he said the exact opposite.

Let’s see if they start minting platinum Teradollar coins (a waste of money in itself).

What kind of gun did he use to fire the shot?

  3. Rosco says:

Wasn’t the fiscal cliff the deal the Republicans did with Obama the last time raising the debt ceiling crisis was resolved ??

If they all squibbed on that one they might as well repeal the debt ceiling law and simply fire up the printing presses – at least that would assist manufacturers of wheelbarrows which will be needed to do the weekly shopping – only to carry the money to the store – not for groceries.

We were in Turkey in 2004 when 1,000,000 lira notes were worth about 80 cents Aus and our dollar was only worth about 75 cents US.

4,500,000 Lira for a cup of coffee – imagine how poor the locals were – we were told to spend all the money in Turkey as no one anywhere in the world would change it – we kept a couple for the grandkids – at least they could feel like millionaires.

    • The debt ceiling specifies how much the US government may borrow. That’s separate from how much paper money the treasury can print, which from recent statements made by Ben Bernanke, is apparently unlimited.

  6. Andy DC says:

I just heard that $430 million in tax credits went to Obama’s friends in Hollywood. $70 million for NASCAR. It is enough to make you puke. Thomas Jefferson was right when he said we needed a revolution once in awhile, like right now!

  7. As a Senator Obama said that raising the debt ceiling was “a sign of lack of leadership” and as a Presidential candidate he said “it was unpatriotic”.
They can’t have it both ways.
Either it wasn’t those things while Bush was President or it is still those things when Obama is President.
    So which is it?

  8. Tel says:

You know the debt ceiling is going to get raised. I know it, Obama knows it, the Republicans know it, all of American knows it, the world knows it. Sure, we can suspend disbelief for the sake of enjoying the theatre, but after the curtain closes, back to everyday inflationary living.

It’s a little-known fact that Australia has had one Prime Minister vote himself out of office.

    • TonyO of Aust says:

      That would be John Gorton

      • Ivan says:

It would also be Andrew Fisher, who resigned the Prime Ministership and his seat in Federal parliament on 27 Oct 1915, thereby effectively voting himself out of office.
Unfortunately, they don’t do it like that any more – they have to be dragged kicking and screaming.

    Answer:
    Warren G. Harding (1921-1923)

Once in the White House, the 29th president busied himself with golf, poker, and his mistress, while appointees and cronies plundered the U.S. government in a variety of creative ways.
