Global Warming Would Reduce Storms

“Some may still deny the overwhelming judgment of science, but none can avoid the devastating impact of raging fires, and crippling drought, and more powerful storms.”

Storms are driven by temperature, pressure and humidity gradients. If the Arctic warmed,  these gradients would decrease and we would have fewer and weaker storms. If the Arctic was the same temperature as the equator, the Earth’s heat engine would turn off completely and there would be no storms, like on Venus.

In other words, President Obama is an idiot.

Yes, but he’s demonstrated his idiocy in many other ways, as well.

  2. He is just reading something someone wrote for him which strategists hope will benefit him politically. He doesn’t actually understand it.

What does the Arctic have to do with the formation of a hurricane? Nothing. Yes, temperature gradients are a key factor, but not in the way you imply. It’s a vertical game where the hot air below and cool air above begin a brutal dance that, combined with moisture, create the storm. Warming water and air below amplify this effect. This prediction fits the climate change model perfectly well. Hope that helps.

Therein shows the purpose of tropical cyclones. Their role is to take heat, stored in the ocean, and transfer it to the upper atmosphere where the upper level winds carry that heat to the poles. This keeps the polar regions from being as cold as they could be and helps keep the tropics from overheating.

    • “Cyclonic Storms

In the northern hemisphere these are low pressure systems with counterclockwise air circulation that generally form at the polar front. At the front, cold polar air is moving eastward while warm, moist Pacific air is flowing to the west. Friction along the front causes waves as warm air overrides cold. A cyclone begins to develop. Eventually the cyclones spin off the polar front and are driven southeastward by the let stream. A typical “wave cyclone” has a life span of 7 to 10 days. As long as the frictional waves persist along the polar front a series of cyclones will be spawned.”

Complete off subject, but maybe Steve, you could announce the debate between Marc Marano and Bill Nye (the science guy) I was so disappointed with B.N. s involvement with Al Gore and that 24 hrs of Climate madness. As a retired science teacher that ´simple as high school physics´thing was so obviously staged and an outright lie that it has forever made me lose all respect for Bill Nye.
