Jennifer Stahl has been a strong advocate against the smart meter program in Naperville, Ill., for the last two years. The issue came to a head Wednesday afternoon when she was arrested while refusing to let the utility workers install the controversial device.

I like my smart meter. It helps me to achieve nearly 80% reductions in power usage, compared to my neighbours.

Of course, I had to spend over 10,000 dollars for PV and Z-wave smart appliances to do it, and I will take just short of forever to get that money back in saved power.

    Tomato, tomahto.

  2. gator69 says:

According to my power provider, everything from the transformer to my house is my responsibility, which is a different situation from the one in Naperville where the city apparently owns the meters. And as far out as I live, I doubt they will be coming to see me any time soon.

It all starts with words and how they label and portray us. Why do we mindlessly accept the term smart meter, smart phone, smart appliance or smart car? Does a smart car protect your family better than SUV in an accident with a semi? See the point?

This nothing more than human programming as the mindless acceptance of words that are propaganda builds in a person’s subconscious mind until it becomes a foundational truth in their conscious mind. My headline would have “Woman Arrested For Refusing Government Imposed Spy Meter”. See the difference a few words make?

Eventually the automatic assumption will become that if you are against things “labeled” smart, even though they aren’t smart, you are a stupid human. As the masses of mindless drones that accept such dehumanization grows it creates a feedback that reinforces mass compliance. Great minds like H.G. Wells as an example used to try to make us aware not to become mechanized drones like the Eloi that responded to blaring sirens without thought.

This type of framing is endemic in liberal media. A pro-gun presenter this week in New Trier Township used a picture of Nazis in context with a gun show. The local news coverage left this point out and portrayed those defending the Constitution, some being military veterans, as anti-gun control extremists. Really! The people who defend Constitutional rights were portrayed as rabble rousing extremists while the guy calling other people Nazis and lobbying to disarm everyone, like the Nazis actually did, is the good guy. I’m sure the journalist completely missed the irony, hypocrisy, twisted logic and stupidity of his column.

Very Orwellian to come up with cute codewords like “smart” to enhance mind control over the sheeple.

  5. Andy DC says:

Remember our beloved President saying that we had no right to be 72 degrees in both summer and winter? What the smart meter may be all about is the ecofascists desire to regulate your thermostat rather than your own comfort level.

I can recall during the first wave of ecofascism during Jimmy Carter, the idiots at my apartment complex set the air conditioning thermostat at around 79 degrees, which with DC humidity in summer is not a very comfortable temperature. My solution, I put a lamp under the thermostat!

  6. higley7 says:

They set our heat low in my apartment building in the 1970s and the thermostat was at the top of the stairwell just outside my door—that’s the warmest place in the building. So, each evening I placed a small glass of ice on top of the thermostat. By the time the ice had melted and the water warmed, it was time for bed. The landlord was overjoyed, as it was the first time he had a winter with NO complaints from that building.
