You can’t control what you don’t have.

Senator Durbin was already hosting a fundraiser tonight. The election is hardly over and these characters are already running around with their hand out! Then, of course, they feel a need to reward their contributors when they win, at our expense and our children’s expense.

The Founding Fathers came up with a good system, but apparently not good enough to last over the long term the way it is being corrupted.

“Since the 1990s, scientists and international negotiators have aimed to keep global temperatures from warming more than 2 degrees Celsius (3.6 degrees Fahrenheit), but little progress has been made so far in concrete steps toward that goal.”

In the same light, very little progress has been made finding Bigfoot or locating those elusive UFO’s. The “Squatch” hunters and climate scientists should collaborate.

  4. NikFromNYC says:

Instapundit is reporting how Al Gore just sold Current TV to middle eastern “oil money” network Al Jezera:

“AL JAZEERA BUYS CURRENT TV. “Mr. Gore and his partners were eager to complete the deal by Dec. 31, lest it be subject to higher tax rates that took effect on Jan. 1.”

That’s Irony #1. Irony #2 is Al Gore walking away with $100 million in dirty oil money. Well, it would be ironic if it weren’t so predictable. Al’s a whore, basically. Gore, I mean. Not Jazeera.”

Yes, they did come up with a good system. Unfortunately, the system could not, does not, and cannot act automatically. It has a price tag: the majority of the members AND the politicians must remain connected to reality by thinking and acting rationally. This has increasingly not been the case in that there is a wide spread fantasy that reality is not real and that it is whatever the majority and the politicians say it is. One small piece of evidence for this is the wide spread belief that the nation can continue to spend more that it produces without limit and with only positive consequences.

The fact remains that one cannot consume that which has not been produced no matter how many laws, how many guns, and how many people believe otherwise. Even the act of production requires unconsumed prior production to be possible. This is the inescapable price of having a future. It is a price that far to many are unwilling to pay. Hence, they consume their own future as well as that of everyone else.

There is no such thing as a free lunch. All lunches will be paid for eventually. The only question is: when and at what price?
