The Safest School In America

The NRA proposed that armed policeman guard our most precious asset. Piers Morgan and the rest of his communist progressives then had a world class temper tantrum, because the NRA idea made perfect sense.

The youngsters who survived the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary returned to class Thursday for the first time since the shooting rampage, settling in at their old, familiar desks but in a different school in a different town.

Classes resumed for the first time since last month’s shooting in Newtown, where a gunman killed 20 first-graders and six educators.

With their original school still being treated as a crime scene, the more than 400 students are attending classes at a refurbished school in the neighboring town of Monroe. Law enforcement officers have been guarding the new school, and by the reckoning of police, it is “the safest school in America.”

Yeah , they get right on it after the fox is gone . Carry a gun and provide your own protection . The safest school is a home school and percentage wise it is a better school academically .

Law enforcement knows what airy headed liberals just cannot understand.

When seconds count, police are just minutes away.

Have teachers and administrators carry firearms. With proper vetting and training, they are the best way (see Israeli schools). They will do this for a few extra thousand a year. Contrast that with the overtime pay of union policemen (when they are not parked on the highway guarding sign painters).

Not that I don’t value dedicated policemen—but they are caught in the same corrupt system.

I love this blog for its climate-related output but I simply can’t understand how *anyone* can think it’s a good idea to arm school staff. To my mind that’s just bizarre.

Full disclosure: I’m a native of the UK and I’ve never even touched a firearm, let alone felt the need to protect myself with one. We don’t get a lot of gun crime over here and I can’t help but feel that’s because we don’t have a lot of guns.

Never underestimate the stupidity of people, especially people who shoot themselves or others by mistake.

    • Americans are 15,000% more likely to die in a car accident than be killed by a rifle. This mindless paranoia about guns is beyond my comprehension. The world is full of potentially lethal drivers and no one thinks twice.

For someone who specialises in calling out other people for using poor statistics you’re not exactly setting a good example with that one; virtually anything would appear safe when compared with car accident statistics. 🙂

A fairer comparison would be gun-related deaths in different countries with different gun cultures. A brief spell of Googling revealed that in 2008 9,484 people died in the US through gun crime. In Japan the death rate was 11. Guns are banned in Japan.

    • You have no understanding of the US, which is many different cultures. Most of the gun crime in US is committed in cities by black gangs where guns are illegal. Switzerland has 30% assault rifle ownership and almost no gun crime.

A fair comparison would be “violent crime” which would include the weapons of choice. IN that, the US ranks below the UK. The UK is even now talking about banning Kitchen knives due to the violence committed using knives in general.
