The Government has more than ample power to destroy anyone or any group that chooses to resist it. It is like a fly taking on an elephant. To do so is suicidal.
The government can’t even control its own spending, much less anything else.
And if they tried Andy, the result would be total anarchy. I agree they have the means, but to attack any group of US citizens would turn the rest of the country against them and all politicians and those who would support them and their laws would be the walking dead. One by one they would be taken out until sanity prevailed or we become like Syria is now.
I have had the unique pleasure of living in Southern California neighborhoods during two riots – Watts and Rodney King. Once everyone decides to hit the streets and riot it is amazing how little power the state has. Now imagine everyone armed. All it takes is consistent injustice, a spark of outrage, and mass insurrection. No government can fight such a thing. Really – are they going to kill everyone? Doesn’t happen. What I have seen is the “Man” high-tails it until things just settle down on their own. And only then do they move in.
I would be sceptical of that. The Syrian government was a dictatorship and they are having trouble controlling their population.
Recently several US politicians have declared guns a threat to national security. This didn’t make sense to me, until I realised they were talking about the security of the ruling administration.
You got it. See above. They are scared sh#tless right now for some reason.
