We Have Never Had A Civilian Perform A Heart Transplant

Diet and exercise prevents millions of cases of heart disease every year, but no civilian has ever performed a heart transplant. Lefties would tell us that means diet and exercise are useless.

Compare vs this logic.

Ed Schultz: “We’ve Never Had a Civilian Stop a Shooting” – Leah Barkoukis

The claim is incorrect, as civilians have stopped lots of shootings. But the real problem is that the logic is flawed. Armed citizens prevent millions of crimes a year, because criminals are afraid to commit them. How many banks and homes would be robbed without armed protection? No one wants gun battles – we want to deter them.

Shooters always target gun-free zones, because they know that no one is armed. Is Ed Schultz a complete moron?

Suzanna Hupp could have stopped the Luby’s shooting and saved her parents, but Texas law prohibited her from carrying a gun.

Logic, reason, and common sense are not used much by libs as this requires critical thinking. This is hard for them. Much easier to use their emotions as a thinking tool. This voodoo pseudo feel good approach to achieve an answer means that side effects of their fake reasoning must be ignored along with facts that do not support their tunnel vision.

Not all transplant surgeons are military.

Obamacare has reduced the financial incentive to take care of oneself with healthy lifestyle. The responsible now further subsidize the irresponsible (compared to a few years ago).

Instead, health ins premiums should be risk-based like auto insurance. Speeders and accident-prone drivers pay more. So should smokers, obese, alcohol and drug abusers, etc.

Why take care of yourself if govt (i.e. other taxpayers, future taxpayers) will do it for you?

We need a system where patients have more financial skin in the game. Insurance is a different concept than this Obamacare entitlement, which does not control costs even as advertised.

  3. Robert Austin says:

A similar reasoning is presented by gun banners when they glibly claim that more innocent people are killed or injured by firearms than are criminal perpetrators and thus claiming that firearms possession has a net negative effect on public safety. Of course they ignore the crimes that are prevented by the mere brandishing of a firearm or the fear that a possible victim might be armed.

    • John B., M.D. says:

      Difficult to measure a “non-event.”

It would be nice if FBI at least kept statistics on incidences where an armed civilian intervened and stopped a crime in progress.

      • If I were the sort who used specious metrics, I would start with the country that had the highest rape rates in the world, & assume that the US’s rate would be exactly the same if not for guns.

South Africa seems to be about the highest, with approx. 120 rapes per 100K population. This means that you should expect to find >360000 reported rapes in the US, however there were only 84767 reported in 2010.

Headline: Guns prevent 280000 rapes per year in the US.

        Now give me $120k/yr!

  4. I’m not sure what he means by “civilians”. Are police considered part of the military now?
