Wyoming has 60% gun ownership, and their crime rate is among the lowest in the US.
Gun Ownership, by State – Guns, by State – Gun Owners Percentage by State
The murder rate in Wyoming from 2000-2010 was 1.9 per 100,000 population, which is lower than many countries in Europe. Violent crime rates in Wyoming rank in the bottom six for the US.
By contrast, Connecticut has only 17% gun ownership.
Here in Fort Collins, just about everyone owns a gun, and we also have low crime rates. Our murder rate is about the same as the UK, but our overall crime rate is about one sixth of the UK. The crime rate in the UK in 2011 was 233 per 1,000 population, compared to only 38 per 1,000 population in Fort Collins.

The reason that we have such low crime rates is because everyone owns guns. The reason that the UK has such high crime rates is because no one owns guns.
Like everyone else on the left, Piers Morgan has no idea what he is talking about.
It has nothing to do with guns. The black murder rate is 7x the white murder rate.
Wyoming has one of the lowest number of black people in a state.
http://www.statemaster.com/graph/peo_tot_bla_pop_percap-total-black-population-per-capita
Perhaps, or it could have nothing to do with number of black people and everything to do with population density. Wyoming has the second lowest population density in the US. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_by_population_density
So why are lefties trying to blame gun violence on rednecks, when they are not the problem?
Because liberals are probably responsible for most gun violence.
It can’t be them. It HAS to be an inanimate object.
Hey left , their brain is an inanimate object . 🙂 It’s like a programed computer chip , or maybe a wastebasket ?
🙂
Sunshinehours1, I must commend you form saying what 99% of the population will not. We must investigate ALL possible parameters of the issue of violence, if we love our children more than political correctness.
I still contend it is a cultural issue, and that all cultures are not equal.
The donks will never admit it, but blacks are among the main targets of their gun control dreams. The donks have a paternalistic attitude toward blacks, but they do also have a paranoic fear of “right wing militias.” The Southern Poverty Law Center takes the point position on that front. Basically the donks want a monopoly on lethal force.
We also have one of the lowest numbers of white people in a state. The black murder rate is not 7X the white murder rate, in fact, most blacks killed by violence (Including guns that are mostly illegal) are killed by other blacks.

Crime and violence are cultural problems, because some cultures place a high value on criminality violence. Why does anyone act surprised over increases in violence, when we are teaching kids that it is cool to be a thug?
When we were kids and someone got hurt in the course of play, play stopped, sometimes for days. We would beg the victim not to “tell mom”, and there was nothing to be gained from hurting another. Now, pain and human suffering is the object of much of the play and entertainment we feed kids. High scores, and dopamine highs, are achieved through massacre.
Gator69 , you display a strong ability to grasp the important facts of situations . Now, if you could just wrap your mind around the problems with the republican party . 🙂
I’m sorry, but you are addressing a Libertarian. I have no affection for republicans, they have betrayed our freedoms time and time again, I love liberty and no party.
Gater69, I just can’t seem to find anything to disagree with you about . 🙂
I would add to that both political parties. We have a major political crisis happening in this country for which no political party is exempt.
Gator,
Here here!!!
Our system has evolved into crony capitalism. Both parties find ever more clever ways to remove you from your money, from your retirement fund, from your standard of living, all the while making you feel fortunate that you live under the best political system on the planet. The two parties are opposite ends of the same rotten banana. They just funnel your money to different things.
Yeah, We should let the Donks run wild.
The difference between Obama and Romney was night and day.
“The difference between Obama and Romney was night and day.”
That is what disturbed me most about Barry’s reelection.
“Like everyone else on the left, Piers Morgan has no idea what he is talking about.”
wrong
Like everyone else on the left, Piers Morgan knows exactly what he’s talking about. They think themselves superior to the rest of us. They love control they love power . It is not that they don’t like guns they just don’t like it that you have a gun. Just remember that ones they have the absolute power history tells us that they rule by gunpoint.( Mao ,Stalin ) We all know what their friends the ‘GREEN’ want to do with us. 10 : 10 no pressure.
No, ‘they’ don’t like guns. And they don’t know what they’re talking about.
They hate violence, even when it comes to self-defense. (Ever hear of Tony Martin?)
These people all have post-graduate degrees in evasion-of-reality. So it’s going to get curiouser and curiouser from here on.
This is not the Left of Mao and Stalin – the virus has mutated (although the situation is confusing since there are still hard-left types out there as well).
There are mobies out there trying to get the donks a permanent majority.
Today on Instapundit:
“RICH BAEHR: Rahm Emanuel Out of Excuses for Chicago’s Murder Rate.”
http://pjmedia.com/instapundit/161146/
“Chicago is 3.7 times more dangerous than New York when it comes to murder, which is obviously the most serious crime with which mayors and their police forces need to be concerned.”
Born and raised in Wyoming!
Does not suprise me at all that 40% said they had no guns.
Why – I only subscribe to “guns and ammo” to keep track of what them rightist is up to!
I give Obama my word that I do not have any assault weapons!
🙂
I really do like Vermont’s implementation of Gun Rights. There is no permit required for the purchase of a handgun or long gun, nor is there a permit required for concealed or open carry. New Hampshire is the only state with a lower gun homicide rate than Vermont.

Gun laws in Vermont – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Vermont has very few gun control laws. Gun dealers are required to keep a record of all handgun sales. It is illegal to carry a gun on school property or in a courthouse. State law preempts local governments from regulating the possession, ownership, transfer, carrying, registration or licensing of firearms.
The term “Vermont Carry” is widely used by gun rights advocates to refer to allowing citizens to carry a firearm concealed or openly without any sort of permit requirement, however this term is being replaced by the term “Constitutional Carry”. Vermont law does not distinguish between residents and non-residents of the state; both have the same right to carry while in Vermont.
The Vermont Constitution of 1777, dating well before the Bill of Rights to a time when Vermont was an independent republic, guarantees certain freedoms and rights to the citizens: “That the people have a right to bear arms for the defence of themselves and the State – and as standing armies in time of peace are dangerous to liberty, they ought not to be kept up; and that the military should be kept under strict subordination to and governed by the civil power.”

Wolves migrate to where the sheep are, not where the guard dogs are.
Wow, I’ve seen stupid conclusions before but this one takes the cake. There are lots of reasons why Wyoming is safer than south central LA but please explain why the US is 3 times more dangerous than Canada, which is ranked 7th in the G8 (guess who’s last) and none of the top 7 have the 2nd amendment or lots of guns.
Moron alert. The violent crime rate in the UK is eight times higher than in the US. Most areas of the US are extremely safe, except for those heavily dominated by Democrats.
Thanks for the alert Steven because I think you’re wrong on both points (and I notice you ignored the other six G8 nations). As this article in Bloomberg points out the US is at least four times more dangerous (that was clever of you to use the phrase “violent crime” though.
‘According to the Sydney-based Institute for Economics and Peace, the U.K. had 933 violent crimes per 100,000 people in 2012, down from 1,255 in 2003. In the U.S., the figure for 2010 was 399 violent crimes per 100,000 people. Still, while the U.S. violent-crime rate is less than half Britain’s, its homicide rate between 2003 and 2011 was almost four times as high.
A series of mass shootings, including the December murder of 20 children and six adults in Newtown, Connecticut, have revived questions about gun control in the U.S. In the U.K., where all guns require licenses and are hard to obtain legally, they’re used in 1 in 13 homicides. In the U.S., they’re used in two out of three.
“You’ve got 10 times the likelihood of being killed in violent crime in the U.S. than you have in the U.K.,” Steve Killelea, the founder of the institute, told the BBC today. “The strict gun controls in the U.K. are one of the reasons you’ve got such good homicide rates.”
According to the institute, if the U.S. homicide rate were the same as the U.K.’s, it would prevent 12,000 deaths a year.”
I have a feeling that Democrat communities are as safe or maybe a bit safer than Republican but neither is close to being as safe as at least 6 of the 8 members of the G8.
I can’t waste time on idiots.
It’s true Wyoming historically ranks as one of the least gun crime states. But you fail to mention Wyoming has some of the highest accidental gun caused deaths in the nation. The state also ranks high in suicides by firearm and gun related domestic abuse cases that don’t result in homicide, (gun threats, shots fired, and women being pistol whipped).
“Women being pistol whipped”.
Now there is a stat I would love to see someone try and verify. Nice emotional touch though. Kind of like the disabled elderly people, in wheel chairs, with whom I marched to protect our basic civil right of gun ownership.
Washington DC has the highest gun crime rate in the nation. But I’m sure, since they are predominantly Democrat, that they never pistol whip their women.
“The reason that the UK has such high crime rates is because no one owns guns.”
Idiots like Piers Morgan may like to portray Britain that way – but it’s completely untrue. According to data released by British police forces, there are several million rifles, shotguns and handguns in private ownership in Britain – with the overwhelming majority kept in the owners homes.
“Steve Killelea, the founder of the institute, told the BBC today. “The strict gun controls in the U.K. are one of the reasons you’ve got such good homicide rates.” ”
Another idiot who doesn’t know what he’s talking about. A few years back, a senior cop at Scotland Yard did a survey of guns used in crimes in Britain; he found that OVER 99.9% of them had never been licenced to anyone in Britain – in other words, our allegedly “strict gun controls” have virtually no impact on criminals or crime at all.
As for it being difficult to obtain guns in Britain – another myth. The procedure is tedious, but that’s more down to bureaucracy than anything else. Having spoken to young people who are working towards a British driving licence, I can assure you that (unless you have a criminal record or mental health problems, obtaining a British firearms licence and a firearm is quicker, easier, and a LOT cheaper than getting a driving licence and insurance to drive a car.
So why do so many British people not own guns? Because they choose not to have one – not because the law makes it impossible or even difficult to do so.
Thinking about moving there how r the schools is there strong racism there cost of living jobs etc….can anybody help me
